The masses of Urguan gather at the base of the steps of the inner city. At the top of the steps stand the Thane's council and Court of Mountains. Guards are posted at the base of the steps so no random lads may run up the steps to do stupid things. A thane steps forward clearing his throat before shouting to the crowd "Lads! Weh again come t' elect our leadeh frum among our own. T'ose runnin, as dictated frum th' T'anes council, accordin t' th' articles, beh Onar Ire'eart, Balek Irongut, Lat'ros Oilbeard, Grunmin Starbreakeh, an' Fimlin Grandaxe! Vote well lads fer th' winneh will beh yer Gran' King! An' remembeh! Onleh dwarves may vote!"

Clan Father of the Ironguts, Balek Irongut, leans back into his chair, placing his hands behind his head as he chuckles. He sits all alone in his home, listening to the loud shouting dwarves in the streets of Kal'Agnar.

 

"Oi dun even 'ave tae' lift eh bloodeh finger tae' win dis election" he mumbles for himself, shaking his head.

"Amusin' 'ow ignorance festers in dis kingdom. All tha' candidates er blatant criminals!"

 

He sighs loudly, leaning forward as he picks up the mug of ale on the table, lifting it up towards his mouth as he chugs down a large portion of it with a loud gulp, leaving froth around his lips.

 

"But unloike dem, Oi conduct moi croimes more elegantleh. Discreetleh! Nae' eh single cookie crumble is left be'oind."

 

He carefully lowers his mug, reaching out for a nearby handkerchief as he gently wipes the froth off his lips.

 

"Ah, Oi'd make eh bloodeh foine king. Wot wonderful changes Oi'd implement! Oot wit' tha bloodeh capitalism, in with tha' guilds again, aye! Nae' fookin' nonsense loike tha last guild system we 'ad, just tha workforce, tha smithin' guild, and tha' rest intergrated intu tha royal court! That's 'ow we'd do it. Keepin' it simple and effective, wit' nae' bullshite."

 

He slams the mug of ale on the table, running his fingers through his beard as he stares blankly into the flames of his hearth. He could see it before him. The endless, magical vaults, filled with gold as far as the eye could see. Ingots of the purest metals, gems of the finest quality, the glimmering beauties of the cavernous depths. The never-ending wealth that would be in the possession of the Kingdom. His Kingdom... His wealth.

 

 

His eyes flicker gently as the thought of the capital abruptly enters his mind. The damned, mountainous peasant city of a hold. He shakes his head, taking a deep breath as more words blurt out from his mouth, speaking only to himself.

 

"Nae' dworf will eveh 'ave tae' suffeh tha grim fate of living in such eh run-down bog, tha loikes ov Kal'Agnar. Simpleh eh bloight upon dis world, which reflects neit'er beauteh nor productivity. Even Lathros must know dis, dat tha' citeh is eh disgrace tae' INDUSTREH itself."

 

He shakes his head.

 

"Eh new citeh would be built. Under tha mountain. Halls ov stone, loike our forefathers intended fer us tae' live in. Built by slaves made from lesseh beings. Tha treasures ov tha depths will run loike rivers, carried oveh tae' each ov tha four corners ov tha world, and back again! New dwarves provin' deir worth in da moines, free 'ousin' fer evereh'un. Eh DWEDMAR ROIGHT!"

 

 

Leaning back into his seat, he sighs once more.

 

"Oi'd be eh great king. Tha greatest King 'oo evah lived. And yet, Oi will relinquish moi nomination dis deh. Fer now, Oi am tha Clan Fathah. Moi responsibilities loi wit' moi kinsmen, n' dis is nae' tha toime Oi 'ad planned tae' ascend. Fimlin will fill in, eh 'onest n' noble dwarf. Until tha deh Oi will fulfill moi bloodeh destineh."

 

Balek Irongut smirks for himself, taking another sip from his wooden mug of ale, before he rolls out a blank scroll of parchment, and dips his quill into an ink pot, before he begins to write his formal letter, a public letter for the nation to see.

I trust he will guide our nation into a better future, and wholly support him in his campaign. Perhaps in the future, if I am ever nominated again, I shall take on the responsibilities of being the monarch of our Nation, but as Clan Father of the Ironguts, my kin must always come first.
