Mines Empty With Ores.

Alright so after a few days mining with buddies I noticed that iron is extremely rare to find. Some other minerals such as emeralds is easier to find than iron. The mines have either been xray'd or simply just strip mined. This is very iritating to me considering you need iron for basically most things and right now its just impossible to find some iron.

There are several Ways to fix this:

  • Revamp the mines. Though I would say this is my least favorite suggestion considering the fact that people will still use xray and strip mine everything.
  • Would suggest Minecraft generated mines where you can have a moderate amount of iron. In addition to that, we will have a simple system that can just ease on the server.

If you have any other suggestion please comment because this is really a big issue in my opinion.

Perhaps when you mine stone, their is a small chance of finding minerals?

The mines are not empty you are merely not branching your mine wide enough. There is also a specific level in where there is a iron "Sweet spot" so to say.

And there is a probability that ores drop when mining stone when you hit the appropriate level.

at masterfull I have never seen said happen. Maybe change the mines so that instead of having ores you have a drop chance from mining stone so even with the xray protect if people get around it they will still find nothing and making a 1x2 whole wont be as good as making a proper looking mine shaft

That was my idea from months ago! (the stone dropping ores and no ores existing). It was not used because "players like the feel of mining ores."

I think either change up the mines or refresh the mines every week.

There have been so many threads about this I honestly feel like the admins just refuse to do it out of laziness.

All I want is a refresh of the mines. It is annoying to spend all of this time mining only to find out there are these dark 2x1 strip tunnels branching across the area you were mining. So you spend another 30 minutes mining in hope that they missed something but you don't find a single ore in your 3x3 tunnels with supports going out in all different directions.

There's ore but it you need to go to the far away and obscure mines and travel for about 20 minutes to find an area that hasn't been touched.

I think the server has anti-xray plugins too. I know we had one in Anthos, dunno if we have it still.

The current systems favours strip-miners, as they can tell where every single ore is. Not only does it give them the minerals, but also the large amount of EXP you get when you mine them.

Also, are the staff not going into the mine and checking who is making these 1x2 tunnels so they can ban the X-ray users? If not, I would recommend checking them now before we replace the mining world.

And as I have noticed, the mines have been dug clean. There may be one or two ores left that X-ray users have just missed or simply ignored, but that are impossible to find for the rest of us. As suggested change it so that there are no ores and make it so stone drops ore randomly. The deeper you go, and the higher your mining level, the more chance there is for ore to drop.

I really dislike the fact we have to rp mine with support. I blame your omi.

There are sweet spots for all ores, ive found them I have no trouble coming out of the mines with stacks of ores.

I have an alternate option that might fix all of our problems, but is pretty hard to code.

Make it that there is no ores, and that there is an appropriate chance that everytime you break a stone block, depending on your mining level, you get a console message:

"You have run into a vein of [name here] ore!"

Then a system of commands replaces, say, 5 blocks around the block you mined with the discovered ore (coal ore, iron ore, eg). This way, players get that feel of mining ore and people cant x-ray. So when you break that block and if the random chance to get that ore happens, you now have discovered a vein of ore.

This system could roll a random number and depending on this number and the miner's skill level, sufficient ore would be generated. The higher your skill level, the lower the total number that is rolled, allowing for more ore to be found.

For example: You roll 256 out of 1000. This is a roll sufficient for 3 blocks of coal to appear around you. But, if you roll 256 out of 1000 when masterful miner, this is sufficient to generate 2 blocks of iron ore or more coal or something.

You could also make it so that small rolls, like 1 out of 1000 result in cave ins and the blocks around the player are turned to gravel and they fall on the player. This would force players to make supports, so the gravel does not fall on them if they roll low numbers!

Its a complex idea that I can see clearly, but I dont think I'm explaining well enough. Maybe I'll make a dedicated post. I think this mining system would be perfect.

I like the idea of mining cobble and getting a certain ore but if I know the staff as it is, they will probably make it /really/ rare which I still find annoying because iron shouldn't be this rare.

If I know the staff, they may accept this idea, and then never implement it.

Allow me the privileged of modifying your original idea please Jistuma. "What if when mining stone there was a chance that it would convert the stones around it into Ores." This way we can get the best of both worlds.

Just hit me really hard, Kardel beat me to it.
