- the undead struggle to find roleplay amongst the players and are as a whole shunned both OOCly and ICly. The players manning the role have been bashed against, hated, and despised because of it. Not just this but the undead were an original concept that was pushed in order to solve a problem of decentralized roleplay in Aegis by removing inactive settlements and crushing those that were way out of the way. Athera does not have this issue

I've heard stories of the Aegisian Unead from afew people and they were treated the same way until the GM staff had to broadcast "Hey, Undead arn't a kill on site anymore!!" there are still inactive settlements in Athera. If you boys just acted like a cleaning crew, coming in and whiping the land up that would be fine, but you don't really need an Undead for that, and a GM would be better with cleaning up messess like Hanseti and Angren. Both of which I would have rather have seen been edited to fall into ruin like Greywynn except they haven't.

I'd probably go for a more lenient B, less GM and ET support overall I think is what is needed due to the bias it creates. As was the problems with the Harbingers before them I recall

Sadly many of us said we never wanted an antagonist, but that you are considering their removal is the first step towards new grounds.

The other is a smaller map, now many people want land, it is in their nature, if you give the possibility for divide then it will happen and slowly RP will dwindle, if you make a map where there is space if you have enough people and commitment but not if you want a manor to prove you have some kind of power. Making it so power and land can only be gained by interaction with the nations is a key factor, making it so people have to invest in the nations (even if this is to rebel for change etc) for them to advance, of corse there is some freedom but if you put it how it is now the playerbase will never have a solid place for them to focus.

I give a brief example is Senda's origional idea, Aldersberg, Werdenberg and petrus. RP for humans devided between three cites and all military RP coming out of angren. All things centralised. Peaceful, farming and lumber RP from Werdenberg, Mining and industrial production from the port of Aldersberg, and all cultural, nobility, church and knight RP (high society as well as trade) comes from petrus.  The entire military is in Angren, there is always trainign RP, rigid systems etc. Every other plot in human lands was expansion if needed(But not unless we actuley needed it) a tavern, an abbey, a shop and the rest were event areas maybe one or two watch towers for army to patrol.

How would this work? Ask yourself the question if there were only the nation capitals where would you go?

Other moves are to change war rules into a FAIR system one where if you don't want war you won't get it, but if you do then you accept all consqenses of War. (its a system I wrote up but never posted becuase just cba to when most didn't care) A system with alliances, warfare and politics having alot more gravity upon the playerbase.

Glad to see you still bare hope

Well actually I mostly said that for effect, they should have got me on board right from the very beginning.

This undead failing is not the fault of the players or the server 'changing' - the undead messed it up. The undead consisted of people not up to the task being 'managed' by people even less suited to the task. No worthwhile Undead were chosen from Aegis, because those who were chosen were terrible choices. A complete lack of understanding from top to bottom of what is required to make Undead good is ultimately the reason why this undead has completely dragged the Aegis Undead name through the dirt.

B, downgrade.

I don't like them having special pew-pews when others cannot.

I think, honestly all we need is to do more events that don't focus on war and killing players. Being an undead, I still think the Undead as a whole can be fixed to fit the players opinions. I've been working hard the last few days planning an event that I think would really help Undead reputation. It would be a shame to just let it go without the chance to see of it works. If the Undead are going to be removed I have a very simple request. I want to wait until after the event I have planned to do this. If that fails I don't see anything else working. Give it a chance because I'm almost 100% sure it will help our cause.

A. Too bad people couldn't live up to their word.

People have a hard time understanding the benefits of dynamic RP and that you can't please everyone, but on a liberal server like LoTC I'm not sure what else I expected.

Now personally, I have taken part in 0, zip, nada, not a single Undead event in Athera whatsoever (as I started avoiding them quickly after their release, and only recently returned after being gone for 4 months). So now as I've said, keep in mind that I have no personal, first-hand experiences with these new Undead at all.

However, I did have one run-in with an Undead whose name I never bothered to receive because I was only watching, and the altercation was very brief. About eight armored warriors had a single Undead before them, and it became obvious this would turn into a PvP brawl (this was in front of the path that leads to old Anni'sul, near the tree-top inn where Haelun'or stands now). I hid in the trees and watched as PvP was declared, and from what I witnessed, the single Undead slaughtered them all relentlessly by summoning mobs, lightning, and at times taking out an enchanted diamond axe to finish them off. In my mind, this event was no different than what a Harbringer would have done whatsoever.

"But what choice do I have? They all want PvP and I have godlike plugins to help me, I can't possibly lose!"

- Now a theory of mine is that perhaps an antagonist could be more enjoyable if they PURPOSEFULLY although not PATHETICALLY lost sometimes. You have about 8 armored men in front of you, and they are respectably "close". An old member of the Undead would have been finished if this were the case, as once you got in close the fight was generally over. Perhaps you would've taken a few men down with you, but you certainly wouldn't have won (in my opinion).

After that, coinciding with my experiences roleplaying on the server declining as they have before, I generally avoided the Undead as they seemed no different from the Harbringers with a new name, and a new storyline. After that I left the server for a while in silence, and here I am again! I wish I had more feedback to give, although as I've said I have really, very little experience with the antagonist.

I'd just remove them now. You tried bringing them back as a positive antagonist for the server, and you failed. I don't blame you.

D/B. (Guessing that was supposed to be B)

I would love a downgrade of the Undead, as I feel Undead should focus more upon there magic roleplay and be forced to use no plugin until a magic plugin is released (#One day #Hoping4magicpluginsinceAegis), as from what I have seen in the past fighting them it is either really good or completely terrible. I would like to praise half the Undead for their roleplay, but there are others who have completely disappointed me. I still have hope for the Undead, but I think there would be less player-side hate and more fun roleplay if the Undead did not have a magic plug-in which makes them able to kill multiple people in PvP with little to no effort. I do understand that if there is multiple people, PvP may be necessary, but having a plugin that completely kills the opposition or the majority makes the playerbase mad.

I'd like A or B. It seems like that every Undead event is the same mob events again and again, and it's just not fun. Honestly, I've had more fun with the mini-antags that some ET have been setting up around the Dwarven Capital, as those are more RP than PvE or PvP. The undead events just feel meaningless when they have an incredibly overpowered plugin which can destroy us. Either they need to be removed or toned down and have much more a focus upon RP, and not PvP or PvE.

Certain Undead did mess up, certain Undead should not have been chosen for the job. I'll wholeheartedly admit to that. As a player who plays an Undead, it's disheartening to see most people picking "a" for reasons such "they're a dying breed that should be extinct" or "they all want to kill the descendants therefore they're just a nuisance that deserves to die, they have no character" or "they killed a bunch of people in PvP one time in the middle of the crossroads" etc, etc. I just sigh in depression, because that's not always and shouldn't be the case. One or two Undead doing asinine bullcrap doesn't represent the Undead as a whole, which it sadly does. Yes, the Undead hold a small group of people, but they're not a goddamn hive-mind, we don't all think the same.

Again, I'd like inform the misinformed and unknowledgeable, that not every Undead are alike IC and OOC. They Undead not even staff supported in the slightest, apart from the plugin support. Just because the Undead have 3 staff members (even though I personally consider 1-2) looking over us, doesn't fabricate much of an issue. Need I remind you, that second-gen necromancers and other holy factions bare staff looking over them too? Especially the second-gen necromancers, mainly because I play/played one myself.

Understand that creating something doesn't come as easy as destroying something. You can stack a magnificent stack of wine glasses. However, you must be cautious, knowing that one asswipe can purposefully or accidentally knock it over. OR, it's akin to one individual of an ethnic minority trying to represent their minority in a good light and show that not everyone is the same, but a bad egg shows up and shouts 'ooga booga where da white wimmen at!!' which results in the ignorant judging an entire minority due to an individual's single action. That is the situation most of the Undead are in.

Don't seek their removal because of ONE Undead shooting up the place. Yeah, that specific Undead messed up and (like everyone else,) can mess up again. They're open to improvement, and if they don't improve, they deserve a removal from the group, much like how most holy/dark art groups would do if they had a bad egg. We didn't "fail" because of a single Undead messing up. Heck, Undead don't even get a group vote on who becomes an Undead. We're divided into sects, and sect leaders have a final say on who is made an Undead.

If Undead are removed, then I'd like to see the other things removed too, such as the Ascended. They were designed to combat and slay the Undead and leave when their time was over, they did their job, similar to the Undead, but the Ascended didn't go away. They remained up until now. Now they have to do their job again... And if the Undead are successfully removed and the Ascended still remain, then eeehhh, I'd be hardly chuffed at that fact. They'd be another 'special snowflake' (notice the quotations pls) group; it's just an uber-unique faction or w/e we special powers just for the sake of it when there are others alike out there, only weaker. Not that I strongly have anything against the Ascended, I'm down with 'a' or 'd' (mostly 'd'), it'd be nice having an EQUAL ying-yang tension between both Ascended and Undead.

Sorry for the spelling errors, a bit tired, I repeated myself like... 10 times.

Oh, and, Dalek, if you think you can improve the Undead with your presence alone. I'd like to see you try, really. I mean no offence, it's the fact that you personally feel you'd be a good addition. I'd happily like to see you aid them.

Edit: Not that I strongly have anything against the Ascended, I'm down with 'a' or 'd' (mostly 'd'), it'd be nice having an EQUAL ying-yang tension between both Ascended and Undead.

Edit: Some Undead, and if not, most Undead try to strafe away from "grr grr mortals". Trying to please different players of different timezones is a task for those Undead that do care, but some get triggered upon seeing "Undead" on a character card or seeing that one player who does play an Undead. Their OOC instincts take over and they either avoid the Undead wholly or just silently judge them as they walk past.

FINAL Edit (I promise!): I managed to get some good words out people by spending a freaking hour of RP on their character. ONE character, whilst I have paranoia on my mind of another Undead being the 'destroyer' and ruining the reputation formulated of glass, (that adittional Undead are trying to construct along with me) in five minutes or less due to PvP or some "Grr grr mortulhs!" bullshit.

I /personally/ vote D, the plugin should be removed and it should be /completely/ an RP thing, except POSSIBLY during warclaims they could be readded to the plugin.

It should be a PLAYER RUN GROUP!
