It's rather unfortunate that our community has long forgotten the courtesy of something known as a "warm welcome". You're welcome to your opinions, and you're welcome to have your issues with our choices, but it really is not hard to just say "congratulations" and then either PM what your problems are to us or even just vent quietly. It's really disconcerting when literally every single staff member we've added in the past year has been greeted with "good additions but how the **** did X get GM?" or "X is literally the worst choice wtf so bias". Sure, in the past people would say "there are some choices I don't agree with," but no one was ever specifically named, and now it just feels like these "new staff addition" threads are little more than chances for players to personally attack people. Think for yourself how you'd feel if you were greeted with such response upon your own promotion, because I'm sure you'd be upset if people didn't even give you a chance to prove yourself before tearing you apart.

 

Seriously, common courtesy is all I ask.

Likes and comments mean squat, really. Not saying that those who have a lot of support aren't worthy of GMship but quite honestly, you don't get to choose. The existing staff do. If you don't agree with that, then that is fine.

Out of curiousity, why is a highly +1'd application, former GM, current ET/FM not being added when you let in far less qualified people, in this case, lolita (I support lolita, but like, Sky is far more qualified and has been proving himself these past months >:I )

What defines a qualification for a GM though? Popularity? GMs don't HAVE to be liked by players. They do not HAVE to be popular. If they know how to use the commands and seem to want to learn, that's a good start. 

 

A GM needs to be able to do modreqs and have some problem solving skills in my mind, as there's a lot of conflict.

 

You don't have to like them, but you're expected to give them some form of respect.

 

There may be a logical reason for staff not giving X player the position quite yet. Unless you sit in the GM chat - you have no idea.

I do agree that those sort of posts clutter and tend to make those that got accepted feel less of themselves, I do apologize to the newly made Global Moderators if they indeed feel this way. I personally am flattered that people are upset that I wasn't given the position but I assure you that there should be no need to worry and that if my past experience was anything to shine a torch at, then I will be rejoining the team in no time.

Also Zero is so level headed he has been a great AT member and if you speak to him rp'ly or ooc'ly you will see how much of a good person he is! He is always considers both sides of an argument and gives a level verdict in our town skype chat and in rp this is also reflected through Gorn

 

Personallly i dont know them but ill aplaud them for getting the job of course im going to show respect! How do you get the impression im not going to?  Because ive posted my opionon about reviewing an app from a long time ago?

It should be reviewed, but from day dot there have been GM posts not ever reviewed. That's always been a thing.

Perhaps the GM team have their reasons, maybe they don't.

 

I haven't met him, from memory, and I am sure I probably would. But I have known players like that who I would not want on the team. Not saying Zer0 is like that, again, never met him.

 

I never said that, I was backing up what Alan said. I wasn't targeting specifically you, iI simply do not understand the mentality. If you have an issue, especially like this, take it to PMs or a separate thread. I'm aware you have opinions but this thread is not the time nor place for them. 

 

Say congrats and move on, or don't say anything at all. Don't make drama in a thread that wasn't made for it.

 

It would be nice, I agree, and I never fully understood why some apps sat there. Some may be under consideration, they may be being watched by staff, but they may not want the player in question to know. There may also be a scenario where the GMs like the look and smell of a person but feel like they have other choices before hand. In which case the app is not denied or approved.
