Kitten, I don't believe a subtype limit has ever been set since the MAT went poof. There are lots of folks who know many different types of magic.

After looking for it I cannot find it though I do believe it was discussed. LMs can give an official statement but from my knowledge you can have more than 3 now but the more you have (or even dabble into) the less proficient you become in all of your magics.

Edit: excluding household

As for my character Silus, so it is Fire evocation, Arcana (as he likes to say to both evocation and shielding) and sensory illusion.

I know Edgeism, the magic to seek out those of the edge and the benign.

Put it on the list or so help me I will put my military skills as a lesser Mortal Kombat combatant to use.

But really, all I know is a bit of Earth Evo.

I can confirm that the rule was removed with the end of the MAT. The rule right now is pretty much "If you know a lot of magics, it's a lot harder to be good at them."

A simple 'yes' and 'no' would be more effective in gauging who is a magic user and who isn't, right? Because there are a lot of repeats on this one, so it's skewered towards magic users.

Well if I wanted to know only those that know magic and those that don't then yes. But I was bored and wanted to know what magics people do as well.

Well for my characters, Ramza use to have household and medicinal magic (mostly all the arcane magic but only non violent) but Now he uses Clericism. Prishe uses Druidism. HAPPY NOW JIST AND GRIM!?

This is actually really interesting. Before the unlocking of magic there were two arcane evocationists and one shielder.

It's both really cool that the subtype picked up interest at a quick rate and sad that I wasn't involved with the learning process for any of the new peeps. That may have been the only good thing about MAs. You could trace your magical lineage. Now it's "I taught myself" which isn't bad! Heck I self-taught those two subtypes when they were first introduced. It's merely different.

Maybe I will make a "which magic interests you the most thread"

I learned Arcane shielding from a 30-40 pg. book and self-teaching in Anthos. I wish I could recall the author of the book, but I can't :(

Fire evo- Hiebe

Arcane Shielding- Arcane shielding book

Illusion- Kardel

All my other void magics in my sig aren't practiced actively/would have to drop one of the current to practice again.
