The County of Owynswood, a feudatory on the eastern coast of Oren, has become a contested territory on account of its location and its absentee Briarwood lords. It was a year hence that a rogue knight and his band staked their banners in the place of Briarwood’s, but were unmolested by any martial attempts to reclaim it. This self-same man has since surrendered his claim to the land to Victor de Montfort, who, concerned with the lawful ownership of the territory, approached the Duke Olivier de Savoie of the Duchy of Savoy to determine proper redress of the situation.

It was found that, by crown law, the Duke Olivier de Savoie had de jure hold over the County, which would have defaulted to him upon the Count Gawain Briarwood’s lapse of duties to crown and abandoning of his holdings. Ser Victor de Montfort, seeking both to develop this easternmost land alongside the neighboring provinces of Dragon's Peak, Woldzmir, and Eastcliff, and to uphold the crown law, made parley with the Duke to determine how both sides could benefit.

After long hours of discussion, it was decided that the County of Owynswood, on account of its distance from Savoy, its absentee tax burden and debts, its lack of productivity under the Savoyard vassals, the desire of the Duke for Savoyards to focus on relevant and central lands to the Savoyard capital of Leuvaarden, and the desire of Ser Victor de Montfort to develop the land alongside the House Dystov, nearby to the other Adrani settlements, be legally deeded to the Ser Victor de Montfort, parallel to his existing de facto control over it. It was also determined that, in order for the Duke Olivier de Savoie to be justly compensated for his vassal holding, a sum of 9,000 minas be paid to the treasury of Savoy, who also would now be free of the added tax burden.
