At sixteen the young Vladovic took a levy of forty men and a ship, heading south after the knight he has sworn to kill or die trying. Upon his arrival on the distant islands, he found many smugglers, pirates, and spice traders. His target had taken notice that he was being tracked by the bear and had done his best to disguise himself as a simple spice merchant working in the small port city's southern docks. While this clever disguise succeeded at fooling the young bear for some time, his nose did not fail him as he sniffed out his prize which he finally took after four years of being away from home. The man put up little a fight as Ostrovik took him by surprise before the knight's family, cutting his head off and sewing it to his crotch as a present to be left for his family's return. Due to this... rash action... the city levy took up arms to hunt down this ruthless killer and force justice upon him for his crimes against the citizens of said city. Mutilation and murder were not tolerated in that city and it was a rare sight to find, but it did not stop a small war from breaking out. Ostrovik rallied his forty banner men and took to a fortified manner within the noble districts and when the levy present in the city descended upon the house, they received nothing more than a swift defeat. Survivors spoke of how his men had fled the field and that bears had descended upon the field, slaughtering countless soldiers to cover the retreat of him. This earned the twenty year old Vladovic the nickname "The Black Bear". Once in the port, he and his men quickly boarded their ship and took to the seas. No ship followed them for their losses had been too great and the city was in flames, the bear had taken what was asked of him at whatever cost necessary. The ship sailed for another year until it reached the southern wilds of Athera where it left Ostrovik and his men before going to sail back up north. Oddly enough, the ship never reached it's destination due to what was believed to be a pirate attack. It mattered little to Ostrovik now, though; he was home.
