In all seriousness, she's been a very good FM for a long time and I think she'd make a fantastic GM. I'm a little concerned about being biased towards friends but if she can get passed that, I know she'd do amazing.

You're definitely capable of handling yourself - I wouldn't say there's any argument you aren't capable of handling any responsibility that's thrown at you, staff wise at least. I will say this, however, I'd hate your track record with aggressive forum warnings (which don't really mean much) carry over into needless banning. As it stands, I think the staff as a whole could do for a little less policing. might be time to take ourselves a little less seriously. With that aside, sure, you'd do a damn good job moderating maybe too good,  and I'm sure you'd do a good job delegating your own team if it came to it.

I disagree with the role of a GM. You're looking at it too one sidedly, which is fine since it is an open question. It might stand for Global Mod, but it still stands for Game Master. Have fun, loosen up, do what you want. I hope that you take this into consideration and treat this less formally. You've said it yourself, you dont want to 'come online to work instead of relaxing'.

 

Why are you applying for GM? Just because you have a good grasp of what the server's behind the scenes are doesn't show us any of your wants, or goals.

 

 

 

She was offered this position for GMship by 3 admins but willingly turned it down before. I dont see how she has changed much since then, so I dont see why she shouldn't be offered it again. But I hope you keep in mind that once you start playing as a GM, it will be difficult to revert back to playing casually. Think it over Bird.

In response to those saying I used to be harsh or aggressive, I'd like to just tell a little story to explain things. When I made my FM app the forums, particularly the RP forums, were in a horrible state. 'Says man', flaming, memes (not text memes, just straight up pics of memes with no other rp), OOC comments with a thin veneer of RP to disguise them, or just flat out OOC were the norm. I personally don't care what people do in the OOC forums, so long as they're not being mean to other players, but the RP forums need to be taken a little more seriously. My entire motivation for joining the FMs in the first place was to get rid of this stuff and restore the RP forums. If you check back on the comments on my FM app you'll see that the biggest concern from people at the time was that I'd be too lenient. But my intention going in was indeed to be harsh.

 

So yeah, I was pretty hard on people then. But the RP forums are no longer quite such a hot mess, so I no longer need to be as harsh. And even when I gave out warning points more liberally I rarely ban people from the forums, so I don't think anyone has to worry about me going ban happy in game. I also remove warning points almost every time someone appeals (probably at times when I shouldn't let them off so easily...) and for New Years this year I went through as many players as I could and removed any warning points I could justify removing. Really, I just want people to be nice to each other and respect other people's RP on the forums and in-game.

You're right I've been offered the position and turned it down, and I've told myself and others, often and loudly, that I'd never go for GM. I believe when you offered me GM the first time it came with being the new FM lead, and in some ways I regret not taking that just cause I love the FM team and working with the forums. But I'm also not sure that I see myself as a leader. I can be given instructions or something to work on, or tasked with maintaining the status quo and that's what I'll do, it's where I'm comfortable. Though perhaps if I'd accepted I could have risen to the demands, we'll never know, and that's partially why I regret turning it down. I'd like to see what I'm capable of. I might not lead a team, but perhaps in time I'll grow more comfortable in the position and do something bigger. Or, at the very least, I can contribute to GM grunt work.

 

And that's the basic 'why' behind it: I could contribute. There's also being able to add in your opinion and have it mean something when the staff make big decisions. Though as I've seen each individual GM doesn't have much say on their own, they still have the opportunity to shape the direction the server goes and have a bigger positive impact for others than a normal player has the power to do. You bring up that GMs are also Game Masters, and that's why I mentioned in my app my desire to work with the ET should the opportunity come up. It'd be nice to be able to work with other GMs and ET to provide players with cool events, and perhaps when I've gotten more used to the position (and ET training) do some events on my own.

       Absolutely support this one, BIrdwhisperer is a very mature player. She will be able to handle the stresses and achieve the objectives that are to be made as a GM role. I have no doubt if Bird is to be accepted the position of GM she will work her hardest to continue to grow the server and establish good staff and player relations.
