Discussion: Recent Ban

Too often GMs make decisions based on undocumented rules who's existence is frankly rather questionable these days. Where is this 'no leaking' rule written down? Was Sky informed it was a rule when he became a GM? Or at least given a list of GM-specific do-not-do's to read?

...Or did this just come out of nowhere?

I have no real opinion on the case itself, and had no part in the original decision. However, this is one of the first things you are told the second you get on the GM team. We have our own separate forums with posts on team protocols, such as how to handle modreqs, not to leak, etc.

If it isn't obvious that the admins are saltier then the dead sea because sky did a thing for someone. They are salty and there isn't much we can so unless someone has a nice zombie network.

Just saying.

what about the one about evidence not being more than two weeks old?

If they are punishing for this that is what months old? They be looking at alot more people than just sky for leaking logs from staff chats

The situation is ridiculous, he's an Aether VIP and a previous admin. Where is the comradery anymore among the staff members themselves? Bloody hell

You fucked up on this one, Freema, and honestly reacting to chat leaks is the only thing I've ever seen you actually do, literally that's it.

2 points to address here:

1.) just because he is ex admin and aether vip does not mean that he should be excused from punishment in anyway, thats not called comradely that's called favoritism.

2.) Freema isn't the one who banned him, it was a decision by both the admin and gm team, freema was just the one who executed it, something which he is getting too much flak for.

1. The 2 weeks for evidence rule was removed a long time ago, so the argument that Sky should not be banned based on the age of evidence is invalid.

2. Leaking staff chats is against the rules.

3. It doesn't matter if he was an admin and a donator, he broke the rules.

The ban is really long. Is it because the staff have a problem with him? Probably. Do they arbitrarily decide ban lengths and contradict other similar cases? Yeah. Is that going to change? No. The staff have been arbitrary and don't abide by the rules like it's the United States Constitution -- it's a ******* Minecraft server. The staff are going to continue to be inconsistent and contradictory and arbitrary, not much we can change there.

Out of all the things we could complain about, Sky's ban is not it. He broke a rule pretty clearly and got banned for it. Waste your breath on a more important issue.

1. The two weeks rule was never removed, if it was then that's yet again an unspecified rule change.

2. It's hardly a leak if it involves the report, a leak would pertain information that actually mattered to more then one person, which isn't the case as this /leak/ only included things that involved Moogle's ban.

3. It doesn't matter, that's right but it's still weird to ban him weeks after this actually came up or happened. You'd think that because of his past services that he'd atleast be treated like a well-thinking person instead of a Barnett.

4. /More important/ don't take opinion as fact, I for one care more about this than any other shitty argument that involves LotC at the moment, and so do many others although I am able to separate opinion from fact.

5. Lists are redundant.

If leaking a staff chat is a bannable offense then there should at least be equal treatment, I leaked the ET chat to players and only got put on hold, I didn't even officially get removed from the team - I just left because **** that noise.

Either unban Sky, or ban me, frankly speaking. The situation is ridiculous, he's an Aether VIP and a previous admin. Where is the comradery anymore among the staff members themselves? Bloody hell.

On top of this, the 'evidence' given passed the two week threshold, it's from a Skype log, and the player is now unbanned that it was leaked to.

Theres been so many leaks, this was such an overeaction.  However, this was against the rules, why wasn't the ban handed out at the time, if it was known that it happened?
