Community Points sound interesting- What will they do and what can they be used to obtain?

We are currently unaware of any rollback issues that occur. There have been a major decrease in the amounts of chest wipes so LWC was definitely a factor. However, some wipes may occur because of bukkit itself.

As for rollbacks, we are quite sure they do not happen, if they do happen it's because of a major crash that has occured in Minecraft that we can not truly fix. We've spent many weeks testing plugins to find out the reasons for some older crashes such as MCMMO which we have fixed. Until now the crashes seem with Minecraft not being able to deal with the amount of players we have in the game doing the amount of things they are doing. These crashes are harmless, we simply give it a nice restarting boost and things go back to normal.

And in regards to the rollbacks, I just got one now. This time around it was a complete rollback, as far as I could see, since the house I built earlier today was gone. Nothing big at all, perhaps half an hour or so, but still a rollback :)

These last three days or so, I've had four or five other minor rollbacks, but those have just been placement- and inventoryrelated, ranging from ten minutes to one hour. Again, nothing I can't live with, just a tiny annoyance.

I experienced a partial rollback yesterday, it rollbacked my inventory and location about 1,5 hours, but all I had built in that time still remained. Weird.

I have also experienced some of the minor 30-60 minute rollbacks like Tarannon explains.

To Availer and Team,

Thank you guys so much for all you do for this server. These new additions are fantastic and I know you guys must be really working hard to make this server amazing. Thanks for that.

Guys they can't really do anything more than they have already done about crashes. It's Minecraft's fault. All you can do is complain to Notch.

Thank you for addressing my concern. This is exactly what I was afraid of however. I was afraid that you and perhaps other GM's weren't aware of the number of rollbacks that occur on a daily basis. I've heard so much hype about "skills is awesome be ready!" and "Magic is going to be revolutionize this server!" but I really want to hear about any type of action plan that is going to be/could be taken against these rollbacks. I just wanted to make sure you and the rest of the GM's are aware of the number of rollbacks that have occurred (more frequently over the last couple weeks). At least 2-3 rollbacks on average per day with an estimated average of 1 major rollback of 1-3+ hours of work, inventory, chests, completely gone. We discussed this in ooc last night just a fair bit with the GM Tristen. Both of you seem to have come to the same conclusion that minecraft just can't handle the number of players on the server with all the things that this server is doing (Not that that's a bad thing :P this server is like discovering cancer while planning to start a colony on mars in terms of how much this server is pushing the limits of minecraft). When I joined about 4-5 weeks ago, there were either no rollbacks period, or one in a blue moon. Of course the number of players since then has escalated very nicely perhaps a reduction in the player cap to maybe 180-199 would have some effect on the magnitude and number of rollbacks. I admit, the rollbacks were at first a laughing matter "haha 3 hour rollback it's cool we'll deal with it" but it's gone from a "I hope there isn't/aren't any rollback(s) today" to... "I hope I'm not online when the rollback(s) happen". Again, this is more of an informative/hopeful post to make sure the right people know what's up.

To stay on topic:

I'm very glad that there is going to be more development in the main storyline! There have been many a lot of battles, deaths, crownings, etc. Definitely good to help some of the new players keep up with what's going on on the server in real time.

Ok, I'm going to have to stop you there. It seems a lot of the updates concerning the server are going to be implemented into the Vanilla game anyway; hunger, skills and sprinting. I assume you know this, so why are you choosing to add these things when they are going to be added within three weeks? It just seems pointless, plus making a plugin from scratch and adding it to the game when it already has it is just going to cause all manner of hellish bugs.

Personally I think the updates should cease until 1.8 is released, because when it does release almost everything about the game is being changed.

I login this morning after purchasing 3 full diamond sets. Placed them in my chest for storage last night and of course they are roll backed to being completely gone. I know many players have lost buildings they've spent hours on, players who have spent weeks gathering minas to purchase some items only to have them roll backed I can't remember this happening before at this frequency or magnitude a month ago.

Just an example of the fact there are rollbacks, they do occur, and it's gotten to the point where you pray every time you log out not to lose your items :3

skills are great but in the future update there was something about community points unlocking new area's. i hate anything with restricted access. personally i want it to have an elder scrolls feel with you being able to explore the map instead of doing a whole bunch of quest's to open a door to finally learn that you to weak to go there. instead you should be able to go to those areas but understand that i am to weak. that's just me though if you wanna eat a whole bunch of points to unlock that really awesome place fine but i dont so find another way to accomplish that like adding giants and zombie pigmen everywhere so you are immediately screwed if you go to those places

From what I can tell, community points are meant to reward people for helping and contributing to the server. If everyone gets these new areas, then the only ways to reward people who contribute is giving them Donator perks or giving them Minas, so I think the "restricted area" idea is pretty good, considering.

@ leftclick (sorry quote doesn't work)

im pretty sure your right and its just me being inconsiderate but with corrupt weapons and enchanting im pretty sure there are thousands of other ways to do it. i honestly think that things like unique weapons are pretty sufficient for giving a great idea on the forums. and if they really wanted restricted areas they could rp it with something like you aren't allowed in the kings court because you aren't trusted. with that you could sneak in and create an rp that was destroyed by this system. also look at this. for the first time minecraft has allowed the people to make a world out if their imagination. lord of the craft created a world of fantasy for fellow players to play in. because of this the lore is written by us so if the system blocks access to the ministry of magic or any other place the lore is less open making it just another map in a game. i honestly love loc but i dont want to not be able to go places because im not full of good ideas

@brilegend

If it is instituted, I expect it'll be things like "visiting the Undead/Aengul head city OOC" or something like that, that you couldn't possibly visit IC.
