The Big Skills Update

Hello everybody. We are hoping to release the LoTC Skills system tomorrow, 31/08/2011. The release will occur around 9-10PM GMT. With this release we will be upgrading our forums and website to include a myriad of new features. There will be some expected downtime tomorrow.

Things to note:

- Downtime for site and forum tomorrow.

- You will need to RESET your password when we move to our new forum. We can't move old passwords since they are encrypted. So either create a new account if you lost your e-mail or reset your password TOMORROW when the new forum is up.

- Skills will most likely be buggy, please post any bug reports in the supports and bug section of the forum.

- There will be some downtime on the server.

- A dedicated wiki page will be added for information concerning the skill system.

Check old news posts for details on whats to come with the skill system and new site and forum.

Future Developments:

With The Lord Of The Craft: Rise of The Undead 1.4 patch coming out tomorrow we have averted our gaze to further updates we are interested in adding. Feel free to discuss and comment on the following:-

- Naming and Enchanting

- Automated Game Panel - A myriad of amazing implementations, it'll be discussed further in another news post.

- Adding new world content. Unlockable areas that can be unlocked with "Community Points".

- "Community Points" can be earned in many ways including in and out of game.

- An event schedule with a website Calendar with all events.

- New YouTube videos, Podcasts, Newscasts and Weekly Spotlights.

- Add community videos to the LoTC YT channel.

- Development of main storyline, adding new twists, story development and more.

- Development of Religion in Aegis, adding Sacred and Corrupt items that affect gameplay in various manners.

- Perhaps a Stamina / Fatigue system.

Looks Great, but I would like to ask if there is any plan in the future to deal with the rollbacks that occur on average twice a day. Some only a minor 5 minutes, others rolling back a morning's work of building,mining,organizing items, gathering supplies, etc.

Again, not to steer too far off topic I'm glad to see the server pushing forward, it definitely looks like LoC is pushing the limits of Minecraft, again. :D However, I'd really REALLY like to see these rollbacks disappear. I also believe someone mentioned their chests being wiped again, after having items in them for weeks so I'm not too sure lwc was the issue with chests being wiped.

Magic isn't going to be released with skills, it will be released a lot later... I think they done this so we could test out if the skills worked properly so then they know magic would be ready... Sad i know but we are going to have to deal with it...But either way skills looks amazing and I can't wait :D

We are currently unaware of any rollback issues that occur. There have been a major decrease in the amounts of chest wipes so LWC was definitely a factor. However, some wipes may occur because of bukkit itself.

As for rollbacks, we are quite sure they do not happen, if they do happen it's because of a major crash that has occured in Minecraft that we can not truly fix. We've spent many weeks testing plugins to find out the reasons for some older crashes such as MCMMO which we have fixed. Until now the crashes seem with Minecraft not being able to deal with the amount of players we have in the game doing the amount of things they are doing. These crashes are harmless, we simply give it a nice restarting boost and things go back to normal.

I know that magic isent comeing out with skills but has the original magic for all of the races been changed any from what it says on the wiki?
