On the Godlessness of Elves

Thesis by Theodosius, Acolyte.

Upon researching into the faith of Elves and Elfkind, one would find a universal truth: the Elves are without faith in our Holy God or others of different name. I conducted a large-scale study of Elves, using many interviews that I collected to come to a very worrying conclusion. From my studies, I have come to see that within the Elven race, one in two men are without a deity.

In the Elven world, half of the population are godless in nature, without a deity or deities to worship for their own. This is evident in the lack of places of worship found throughout the Elven world, much of which is centered in the center to south-eastern portion of Athera. When one enters an Elven city, be it made of wood or marble or cave-stone, they will notice that most communities are without any altars or holy sites.

It is a huge characteristic of the Elven race, godlessness. It is truly only found within their own race. We Humanity are quite clearly a majority if not completely Canonist in faith, or perhaps a different interpretation of the texts, but the fraction of we without faith is most definitely less than a single percent. The Dwarves call upon the council of Brathmordikin to guide them, and the Orcish brutes of Krugmar rely on their shamans to bring them strength. The Elves, however, are different. They adhere to none but themselves, or, as many put it: "take the Druidic deities with high regard, but do not worship them." The Druidic nature of Elves has certainly faltered since the days of its prime in the previous realms, and I do believe there to be several factors into this truth.

The godlessness of Elves can be contributed to a certain number of factors. The factor that I see as being the largest in this is the whole-sale subjugation of the Elven race over the course of at least a century. After the subjugation of Malinor by the Dragon in the realm of Anthos, the Elven race has truly never recovered its previous power once seen before. It has become a race of weak-willed men who see no purpose in defending their independence anymore, and is a race which swaps hands between the empires of Oren and Urguan, one day being under the influence of a king and the other a grander one.

I believe that the endless subjugation of the Elven people and their lack of independence and strength to be a prime cause of their lack of belief. The people believe that no God, be he Canonist or otherwise, is willing to save them from their fate. They are an eternally damned people, people who are punished relentlessly and without regret, a people subjugated by the followers of the Book and otherwise, a people who are hated by all others in this world. They have chosen their deities, they have prayed, they have sacrificed, but it all ends the same: they find not salvation, only punishment. What purpose, an Elf asked me, is there to believing in an uncaring divine?

The Elven people demand a divine which will care for them and bring them to the light. Until this divine arrives to them, I cannot see this trend of godless cynics ending. I believe the Elves to be a prime potential target for conversion and canonization, but our efforts have come to very little conclusion. In order to spread the light of our Holy God, the Canonist Church must now come to focus on our newest brethren which also call the Kingdom of Oren their home- the Elves forsaken.

A large smile creeps upon Noah Wheezer's pale face as he reads the thesis of his good friend, Theodosius.

"This is progressive."

Aeran reads it, frowning loudly. "Well that's just like, your opinion, man."

((Back in the day they sorta worshiped Malin. It makes a lot of sense for them to worship nature spirits though, since they basically become nature spirits themselves when they die.))

((We do?))

((That is what I was told a while back. I can't remember who it was that said it though. I think it might have been one of the old Alrasian people or something. The gist was that when Elves die they turn into something like wisps from Warcraft if you know what I am talking about.))

Garahel sits on the edge of the battlements atop the keep of Siegrad, the snow gently drifting down on his head as he read the thesis, thoughts echoing in his mind."The elves won't follow our faith because it's been made clear that it is man's faith and not the elf's," he thinks to himself, reading over the last paragraph and nodding to himself in agreement, "The elven people need to be given a want to believe in our canon. The Church ought to show them it's goodness and it's charity, not it's sword wielding zealots." he thinks before shaking his head, casting them off as weak thoughts and returning downstairs.

"Most Elves are lazy and cowards. They steal all our money and plot behind our backs. They run all the banks, especially the Dark Elves." Justinian remarks.
