The Elven Cigar - " Belvederes "

The Elven Belvedere

In contrast to the common Orcish narcotic “Cactus Green” and it’s nigh-endless varieties, the Elven race held it’s own similar form of anodyne. Though bearing likeminded affects, the nature of the belvedere is a more exotic model; delivering a calming, light-headed sensation to the mind with a slender, lighter look at a cost to potency that common Cactus Green would have rolled up in abundance. Though it is classified under a singular name, the Elven Belvederes is often concocted with a variety of crushed herbs and filters that deliver differentiated kinds of effects.

Creation

Unlike Cactus Green, belvederes often require some degree of patience and craftsman’s skill to shape properly -- exact measurements and ingredients necessary to perfect each stick and assure one is as satisfying as the other. Because of this, a brand of belvederes may consist of different ingredients which produce different, minor effects while retaining the original intention of the creation of the belvedere.

Use

Belvederes are used to calm the mind, having been used in the old ages by Elven sages to reach a mental state able to achieve meditation, or by Elven soldiers to relieve the stress of the battlefield. They are lit with flame and emit a smoke as a result of the ground herbs within being burnt, of which it’s own pungent, distinct scent could be caught; able to hang in the air like smoke itself until it’s stagnant stench is fanned away by passing breeze.

Hindrances of Smoking

The use of Elven “cigars” can ease the mind and body in times of stress, but long-time use comes with a variety of unsavory drawbacks. Among these are;

roughened or gruff voice; rasped by the continuous inhalation of smoke,

“lung sickness”, or the erosion of the lungs; inducing a permanent condition in which erratic coughing or shortness-of-breath is commonplace among those who smoke frequently,

stagnant breath,

yellowing of the skin,

yellowing of the teeth,

yellowing of the eyes,

a lack of energy,

bouts of unforeseen light-headedness,

and brief instances of lung-failure, in which suffocation is induced and able to kill.

[ I thought something like Cactus Green for Elves or humans would be neat, so I wrote up the equivalent of fantasy cigarettes. I don't think it warrants a lore post, so I threw it into roleplay ideas - if that's incorrect, I'd like an FM to place it where-ever it's supposed to be. Thanks!
