Grim Dark: Warhammer

xwdqyED.png

In the year 2100 by the calendar of the Empire, the world is in a slight disarray. In the Empire, the Elector Counts have long since turned the Empire of Sigmar into a mess of states, with some even declaring themselves Emperor. It is chaotic and would take an exceptional individual to repair the Empire.

-=-

Meanwhile, Bretonnia fares much as it always has. Small hordes of Greenskins pillage and destroy only to be annihilated by the Knights of the realm. As well, the Red Duke continues to wage a war of his own in Aquitaine. The Blood Dragon refuses to give up, and has slain thousands by this time in his quest to secure his duchy.

-=-

The High Elves must elect a new High King, and quickly. Should they fail to do so, surely Malekith, the Witch King of the Dark Elves will descend upon them. It would be a disaster if the High Elves could not find a king who could pass through the Flames.

-=-

The various Dwarven holds continues to survive. Digging new tunnels, many seek to reunite with their brethren and open new mines. But they must be wary, for Skaven are a constant threat, and the Greenskins love to meet Dwarven armies in combat.

-=-

As it ever has been, Norsca is filled with savage marauders, hulking raiders of monstrous proportions and a demeanor to match. Many follow the teachings of the Chaos Gods, others the ‘spirits’ of their ancestors which more often than naught are daemons of the Chaos Gods. Further north are the Khurgan tribes, utterly devoted to the aspects of Chaos, these horsemen raid from the Chaos Wastes to Naggaroth and everything in between.

-=-

In the southern continent, the Tomb Kings send their undead armies to conquer land, waging war among each other and the living, often assaulting the Sultanates in Araby. The deserts as well are home to vampires still bitter over a centuries old dispute with the Tomb Kings.

-=-

Tilea fights naval wars with the Pirates, and the city states are in a state of constant economic warfare, for whoever gathers the most wealth and the most land may in fact unite the continent and bring about a golden age for their people.

-=-

In the New World’s southern edges are the endless jungles. The Lizardmen rule here, following the teaching of the Old Ones and waiting for the day when they return. But they are not alone here, for Amazons also live in these jungles and pirates on the coast. It is a place just as chaotic as the old world, and in some ways far more deadly than the Old World ever can be.

Rules

  • Don’t be a jerk

  • No Meta

  • No powergaming

  • Keep it semi-canon (no fighter jets or things that don’t make sense for the universe)

  • Realize that your nation leader may very well die

  • Ask if you have questions (be it on the history, lore etc. I am a plethora of knowledge here)

  • Don’t overspend, I will feel no remorse for bankrupting your nation and killing it

Some tips and hints!

Imperials are feudal, and as such, many of the Electors are in fact grossly independant, and in turn, their own vassals are. The division of the Empire has only strengthened this. Keep this in mind when playing an Imperial

Bretonnians are a classic french-chivalry ideal. They uphold the virtues, and are almost like a King Arthur nation. They believe in upholding virtues, but this means that they are extremely willing to trust others, making them susceptible to being tricked and fooled

Think of the Norscans like Vikings, because that’s what they are. Not all openly follow Chaos, and many don’t even realize they do. They are fearsome raiders, and bloodthirsty brutes of men. As they become champions of the Chaos Gods, they in turn actually get larger until their dwarf even their own kinsmen.

Khurgans are mongols who worship the Chaos Gods, and often act as mercenary horsemen for the Norscans. Otherwise, there isn’t much original depth to them, but are still extremely interesting.

Dark Elves are sinister, and foul beings. The only legal mages are female witches. They are savage raiders and love slaving. Despite this, they vehemently oppose Chaos. Despite this, there are some pleasure cults that almost border on Slaaneshi worship.

Playable Races and Nations

Anything and everything! Feel free to pick what you like, just make sure you play is in the proper fashion.

An OOC note:

If you'd like, you can always form your own nation. Keep in mind you likely start small. As well, the more rural the area the easier it is to start a new nation. You are also free to change the character of the nation you choose, say you wanted to be the King of Bretonnia, but wanted your own character and house. This is perfectly accepted, and for those seeking to keep it more canon, I can find quite easily the canon ruler or figure of the nation you’d like.

However, the Dark Elves may only be played as the Witch King, Malekith, for reasoning that he is probably one of the single most important and constant living characters in the universe.
