Seems like a ok idea but I always thought monks as the lotc medics and I don't think new players need that much help I managed fine without a AT telling me this and that but honestly I don't mind I'll be nice and give a good ol' +1

Hahaha what a slap in the face to the old monks.

Ok, so, in that community meeting transcript there was a bit of talk about the monk situation, and it was mostly 'wait a bit.'

Now, this implementation is 1 of 2 things. Either the staff have no ******* clue how to appropriately gauge the reasons why some people get mad at certain decisions, or some sort of alien has come down from Mars and infested the minds of all people in the 'GM staff chat.'

For the most part, the majority of people who were upset about the monk business weren't upset because some sort of group that helped me players was removed basically. They were upset with the way it was handled, the reasons behind it, etc. So, to like... Say that something will happen, and then basically implement something that is nearly unrelated to any concerns that most people had is... Well, it's pretty silly. Actually, it's incredibly stupid.

The monks as a whole were created as a group to assist and guide new players whilst in the Cloud Temple. The magic given to the monks was given exclusively to heal those whom came to the temple needing healing, and wished to roleplay it out. Yet, in the recent past, the monks have failed to act as consistent guides, consistent healers, or simply consistently at the Cloud Temple helping out. These problems, along with the friendly, intimate, and continual interaction, and even recruitment of unsavory in-character individuals has even further shown that the monks are not serving their purpose.

What I find mind-boggling is that instead of contacting the current Monks and letting them know they are not doing their duties as correctly as they should, you,  and all forms of staff ceased(if there was any communication to begin with) any form of communications with the Monks. This is no isolated incident either, for the past few years since early Anthos communication with the staff with the Monks have been the most cancerous events I've had the pleasure of going through throughout my time with this community. Instead of contacting the Monks like responsible staff members you've decided to wait for them to fall prey by various teams and pick at it like vultures, gutting the Monks for what they were for a lifeless husk. Though as the voices of the community clearly do not matter, there is not much to do here.
The communication through this process was cancerous and the morality concerning. I haven't cringed this hard in a long time.

I brought forth this idea several times in the AT chat. Where is my recognition @Will (TauFirewarrior) ?

why do you want recognition for a shitty idea jonas

You seem to underestimate my desire of attention.

I was salty before but now that I find out that there's some 20 characters apparently that're being told 'you can't play your character' now, y'all are jerks. What's better is you don't have the ability to say it to their faces, either? You just make a super passive-aggressive post on the forums for ~positivity~? This is subtweeting taken to a whole new level of immaturity.

1) No, they can't have their monk magic. They can still play their character.

2) This isn't passive aggressive. It was known that AT would be getting Monks before the community even knew. We didn't just want to remove them outright.

3) We believe the AT will effectively be able to fulfil the original purpose of monks better.

Honestly, my opinion is the player monks didn't feel like monks. The we're more like dudes with their own circle jerk magic, it didn't seem like they fulfilled any sort of RP agenda. Most of the time rping elsewhere doing other things. Which is cool and all but you don't need to be a monk to do it.

Also, if you feel that not being a monk ruins your RP you could become a cleric, or a Druid.

1. Predictable, the LMs have been trying to take that since Asulon.

2. It's extremely passive aggressive. Let's pretend this is all ~fun~ when we're eliminating a player group.

3. You're wrong. The AT have tried this role no less than three times, and each time they've failed swimmingly. I would know: I was the leader of the organization for one of these times.

Just because they didn't /feel/ like your view of monks doesn't mean it's okay to just nuke their group.

If you're gonna bring them back just to make them unplayable still makes 0 sense to me.

I agree.  The staff have a lot to answer for.  They need to actually address the issue at hand rather than try to misdirect.

Being realistic here, what incentive does the staff have to play Cloud Temple Monk characters with all of the limits put on them? Active staff members have their own characters they would probably rather play. After the hype this won't last very long unless you have a handful who really don't give a **** and just love helping people all the time.

Probably better off getting in touch with those who actually liked and role played the CT monks to fulfill the goals made. Set some ground rules and go from there.

I can't speak for the druids, but the clerics have an incredibly different moral system than monks. Monks believe in true neutrality; Tahariae clerics are big fans of the genocide of a specific set of people. The only similarity between them is that they are healing magics. I'm tired of hearing this argument.

Also, if the staff had issues with their lacking an RP agenda (like how the clerics have "Purge and heal!" and the druids have "Save the forest!"), why didn't they provide one for the only unique magic (and the first of the healing magics) on this server? Just because characters don't fit a specific mold doesn't mean that you should ax the entire group, and if it does, well gosh, that's awfully hegemonic. Give incentive for the characters to become more "monklike". I've spent months encouraging change within the clerics so we're actually religious and a somewhat-organized RP group with set goals. Do so with the monks.

That said, this is simply a poor idea. The AT have other things to do. Monks having magic didn't hurt anybody, and now that the Temple has been moved to the docks, they'll have phenominally more presence than putting them someplace that requires you to go through a wagon to reach, or telling them not to host festivals so people have little to no incentive to go to the temple.

LMs have too much power.

They should only handle the lore that doesnt interfere with player's characters until said characters want to add or remove something of their group/magic.

Going as far to touch something that players have put their heart and souls into, without their consideration, is literally a shotgun to the face and subsequently bringing them back to life with monk magic, then being told that they cant do their stuff, and then killed again with said monk magic and set on fire and shat upon to put out said fire.

It is clear how the community has received the addition of AT Monks. Believe me it was not goal to upset the community, rather I wanted to help new players with a new take and a twice failed system. I am going to take your concerns to heart and solemnly ask that the general toxicity that is occurring on the forums to die down.

I am retracting AT Monks, whether or not the GMs and Admins voted on it, it is now my jurisdiction and by that I can remove them as the community have so strongly suggested. I apologize for any sort of salt this may have caused, again: it was my last intention to cause such a disdain. For that I apologize.
