In Regards to the Recent Monks Announcement

It is clear how the community has received the addition of AT Monks. Believe me it was not goal to upset the community, rather I wanted to help new players with a new take and a twice failed system. I am going to take your concerns to heart and solemnly ask that the general toxicity that is occurring on the forums to die down.

I am retracting AT Monks, whether or not the GMs and Admins voted on it, it is now my jurisdiction and by that I can remove them as the community have so strongly suggested. I apologize for any sort of salt this may have caused, again: it was my last intention to cause such a disdain. For that I apologize.

Nice to see the staff take the community's opinions into consideration and actually do something with it c: I'm actually impressed and I will say it (The AT monks thing) was worth a try Tau

Could've just asked the monk leader to let interested AT members join easier... it's not like joining the monks is hard...

... wait, the monk order died and our home got deleted from existence. Nevermind.

Honestly I'm just mind boggled by this whole thing. Did a monk kick the GM team's puppy or what.

EDIT: You're not really to blame though, I guess.

Thank you, Will. I'm sorry the idea was so violently rejected, and thank you for listening to our feedback. I, for one, understand you only had the best intentions.

Also, it wasn't so much this idea that caused salt. The salt came/comes primarily from monk magic being axed. This idea just seemed to be another jab at the monk community.

No, but, like, if the staff took the community's opinion into consideration, the staff would have maybe made a thread asking for opinions, something, not just made it, saw the reaction, and then reverted it.

You don't wanna be like Riot Games, y'know?

Basically what Ventusyr said. Your version of monks who exist to help new players is fine. But making it AT locked, draining the fun out of it by limiting the RP capable of being done with them, and leaving out the older monks was not fine. If you folks had done taken some time to think, I'm sure you could have reached a sensible compromise that not only helps new players, but also doesn't kick the removed monks as they're down.

Communication, time and time again, is what is lacking when it comes to upper staff. It's honestly not that hard to get the opinion of folks before doing something or to create a way to have clear communications between teams. All it takes is a bit of effort, maybe poke the admins and remind them that?

Oh, I agree, but something is better than nothing. Baby steps, eh?

When one has a taste of power with no real limitations, the only support that will rise is that of an opposition.

You guys as a team really need to learn from your mistakes.

You guys have community meetings.

You have multiple forms of a feedback thread.

What more do you guys need to actually understand the player base instead of using your own ideas thinking it will benefit the server without properly weighing the pros and cons and how it will effect everyone? Why make a huge overhaul on something that was never truly broken in the first place anyways?

Something is clearly wrong here, and as everyone says, it's the communication from players to staff.

I urge you guys on the team that are looking to implement your ideas that will affect the player base to an extent actually talk about it for awhile BEFORE you implement it? Please? I am sure that's what everyone wants in the end.

Edit:

And yes, I do like the way the situation was handled where it was promptly retracted as quickly as it could have been. It  shows there is some semblance of proper communication going on.

I am confused... A thread is made to address the monks and bringing them back with large support on it and here you're saying "A large number of the community reacted negativly to this" where are you getting your facts?

Holy moly. First off, calmer down. Staff tried to do something new, no reason to slam them all down.

Monks shouldn't be a playable thing. Their purpose is to help new players and such, they shouldn't be played by normal players. They should be dedicated 100% to monkey like things. Not living their own stories, having their own adventures and benefiting themselves. If you want to help people, do it without being a monk. Having the AT do monks is a wonderful Idea, and I think it would be better for the new players.

You all ***** about communication, but it works two ways. If you all act this way to everything the staff does to try and benefit us, and it does happen most of the time, they arent going to want to do anything. Every time something is changed, you all act like a bunch of children and cry until you get your way.

This was a good idea. Shouldn't have been change back.

I feel like voicing your opinion on something, or trying to engage in some sort of dialogue about the issues you see, is often mistaken for 'acting like a bunch of children.' On LotC that is. It seems to be just an insult that is thrown around a lot.
