~ The Monks of the Wilven Sanctuary ~

The Monks of the Wilven Sanctuary are those who have been inducted into the Order through an arduous process to test the body and mind, and more importantly their devotion to the temple. These Monks are bound by oath above all to remain unbiased, neutral, and passive towards the descendants and any sentient being. Breaking this oath would eliminate all ties to the Triumvirate, and ultimately, the Order. These Monks are the foot-soldiers of the Order, often seen bustling about the Temple doing various tasks like creating the Monk bread that can be found in the hands of those spread all across the realm. Other tasks include the retrieval of corpses past the boundaries of the temple, transporting them to the crypts for the ever faithful Monks of the Crypts. It is not unheard of for these Monks to travel the lands for other tasks as well, handing out food to the hungry and aid to the needy.

~ The Monks of the Crypts ~
The Monks of the Crypts are professional beings who have worked in the temple for eons--predating the Wilven Monks themselves--lending their aid to the Aegis Monks. Their titles and positions are bound in tightly woven circles and very rarely, if ever at all, do they ever venture off of temple grounds. These people are beyond dedicated to their profession. They put their duty first and foremost. To the outsider's eye, the Monks of the Crypts appear only to be selfless laborers of the Temple, yet they are far more integral to its inner workings. For countless years Monks of the Crypts have worked, allowing the descendants to exist and prosper as they create life where there is death and enabling those to stand once they have fallen. The process of becoming a Monk of this magnitude has been lost to mortal men long ago, the knowledge locked away for the eldest of this Order. In the recent times of need from the Monks on the surface, the devout Crypt Monks have ascended in small numbers to assist. As their bonds are far stronger to the Triumvirate, the Crypt Monks dare not betray their trust, remaining within the Temple at all times with very few exception other than to guide the needy.

~ Attire of the Monks ~
Both sects of the Cloud Temple Monks while different share similar forms of clothing. While performing Monk-like acts and duties, all Monks are required to wear their robes. All forms of Monk robes come in the well known brown style. This bland and uncreative fashion is meant to to in a way project their earnest bonds to the Triumvirate, giving a sense of humbleness. In the early age of the Monks Order, it was decided to give these brown robes tiered trimmed stripes about the robes to discern which sect they belonged in. In some cases with the permission of Elders, Monks can slightly adjust the style of their robes, giving it a more personal feel to the Monk.

~ Monk Tiers ~

Throughout the Monks of the Cloud Temple, there are roles put in place for a sense of guidance and order. Both sects, Wilven and Crypts, each have their own set of the rankings below.

  • Caretaker, Highest role of the order. Typically those in this position are the most devout to the Triumvirate and are never seen leaving the grounds. They oversee the Order in its entirety, hence the name ‘caretaker’.

  • Elders, the next ranking who operate on a lower level, focusing more so on the smaller workings of the Order. They are responsible for evaluating all Novices and guiding Monks as the Monks themselves have the job of guiding individual Novices. There are usually only three Elders--one per Triumvirate--ever existing at one time.

  • Monks, this group makes up the majority of both orders. They come at varying degrees of knowledge and age. Their sole purpose is to worship the triumvirate, guide Novices, and help all and any who roam the realm.

--The tiers below only apply to Monks of the Cloud Temple--

  • Novices, members of the order who have taken a step beyond the dock workers, choosing to devote their lives to serving the Triumvirate. They are not yet fully initiated and it is typically at this point where individuals determine whether or not they are ready or willing to continue.

  • Dock workers, those who are not entirely a part of the Order yet fulfill the duties alongside the Monks. These workers typically are the brawn of the Order who possibly do not feel wholly devoted to the Triumvirate but have decided to serve them in the ways they can, or simply wished to assist out of goodwill. As the Temple lies among the docks, these workers oversee the incoming shipments and maintenance of the boats that lie in harbor.

~ Rules of the Monks Order ~

  • The Monks of the Cloud Temples first priority is to help those who are recovering from the after-effects of monk magic for the first time, or traveling to the lands of Vailor. Usually forgotten in memory, or having none, the Monks help what they call "newcomers" to traverse the land and teach them of the land of Vailor, helping kick-start their memory for the journey ahead.

  • It is not uncommon for the Triumvirate to bless the Monk and the Newcomer during their travels around Vailor, outside the Temple. While a Monk shows these newcomers around outside of Temple lands, a passive and invisible barrier may be cast around them, much like the one found in the Cloud Temple. Abuse of this grace will result in immediate removal of the Order.

  • Monks are banned from any form of combat or participation in wars. They will remain neutral in all affairs.

  • Monks are allowed to have relationships, however relationships and time with a significant other may not be spent on Temple grounds or during any Monk duties. If duty does call while with partner they should be required to leave immediately and return to work. If a relationship begins to influence how a Monk does his/her duties the Wilven Elders will talk to them and make sure things change. If change does not occur punishment will be discussed among the Council.

  • While representing the Order and preforming Monk activities, all Monks are required to adorn the robes given to them. Monks may not alter their robes without permission from an Elder.

*The Monk remains by the notice board, looking to you if you had any questions or concerns for him or the Order.

If further information was required, the Monk would point you to the direction of their library.

If inquired about joining the Order, the Monk would offer a piece of parchment and a quill to fill out your information, and looks to you when you have finished.*
