Time to say Farewell

Hullo guys and gals,

I’ll keep this brief since if I take too long the addiction will make me delete everything I’ve typed and log back on.

In September 2013 I joined Lord of the Craft. My first moment RPing was me metagaming a thought emote. My experience on the server started with a little low, but I soon ignored it and became hooked in the community that I would spend a lot of my free time amongst in the two and a half years that followed. I learned a lot from a lot of people, became permanently fixated within the Druids, had an Arcane Delver alt that I played nearly as much, and eventually began looking into staff positions.

I went from Media, to Events, to Forum Moderating, then to GM at the end of 2014. I became well-situated as a Moderator and did what I feel was a fairly decent job. Then I got carried away and began using things like worldedit and creative for things that could easily have been done in survival. I felt I needed a break, so I stepped down, took a break for mock exams and such, then later returned and, after getting back into the swing of things, reapplied for the role of GM. I felt I could handle the responsibilities and devote as much attention to it as I had before. After spending a month or two back in the role, I have come to realise that that isn’t the case, not only with being a staff member, but with playing on the server in general.

Things have changed since I first joined LoTC. The community has evolved, the server and those that run it have changed, player-bases that I was well-established within have all but diminished. Minecraft itself has grown away from what it was when I first started playing in 2011, and I’ll be the first to admit that the new 1.9 update has ruined the game completely. I know that changes are good, but the fact of the matter is that I simply don’t enjoy playing the game anymore, and as I move on with my life I have no time to devote to something like Lord of the Craft.

I will miss you all deeply, and I have truly enjoyed myself on this server for the past 2-3 years, however it is with a heavy heart that I must depart.

To the Druids:

Don’t resort to petty squabbles. Have fun, roleplay, refrain from constraining our magic and lore and try and make things enjoyable for all who interact with you. We are the oldest guild on the server. Be sure to act like we’ve learned and matured over the years. You’ve been fun.

To the Arcane Delvers (those who remain):

You were undoubtedly the best group to RP with for events. I’m proud to say I was a part of you.

To the Human playerbase:

Stop being so mean to people. Instead of warmongering and being racist to elves, try being more friendly and establish great cities or something. I don’t know, just stop being so oppressive.

To the Monks:

Also one of the best groups on the server. So friendly, I enjoyed every second. And Spike, you’re an awesome teacher!

To the Media folk:

The Media Team has always been the best team. The purple tag will never diminish!

To the GMs:

You lot have a tough time dealing with some of the issues on the server. Remember, it’s only a game. Don’t let it get you stressed.

To the Admins:

Make good decisions. And make a nicer map (like Anthos).

To the Devs:

BRING BACK THE OLD BREWERY PLUGIN

To the Players:

You have been good at times, bad at others. Remember that this is a game. It’s supposed to be fun. If you’re making modreqs, be kind and patient. If you’re approached by a struggling new player, offer a bit of advice instead of ban-reporting. I know this doesn’t apply to all of you, but just remember to be friendly. This is a community, not a warzone. Enjoy yourselves.

And with that I give my farewell to you folks.

All of my characters are henceforth missing (not dead), as are their personal possessions.

Take care and have fun.

Ta ra.

Honestly... I don't know what to say - You've been such an amazing part of the community as a whole. I remember seeing you back when I joined the server, a nice and friendly guy who promoted all the things I believe in. You're truly going to be missed Gigarun, and although I haven't worked with you much, I still wish that I had.
