Instead of doing this, how about you make a poll for it, like a normal, sane person?

Wipe it all. People who know how to grind can grind back to aengul, and it makes it so there's more incentive for other people to start profession grinding rather than just recruiting somebody bettter.

I prefer a partial skill wipe, probably to Legendary. All the people who have spent their time grinding their professions will feel like they have just wasted their time if the complete skill wipe happens.

Wipe skills, remove nexus professions. Done.

Go back to the good old days.

I have 3 Aengulics and even I think it should go.

We have a poster boy for the movement.

In theory yes it promotes RP with custom foods and different levels of weaponry. But since it's been released you know how many RP moments I've had improved or even made because of professions? None.

Example I'm building a tavern with my workers, can't makes the stairs for the roof. "Oi any of you able to make me some stairs?" I ask. "Nope" they reply.
Well bugger we now have no roof- oh wait let's make an ad looking for a woodworker. Woodworker shows up, gets his minas,
craps the stairs on the floor and walks out.

I know in theory we're theory we're meant to go through the whole RP process of working together with a new person etc etc new RP blah, but we don't because it's not fun. The only two things I ever really hear when it comes to Professions is

"**** I can't make that"
"I'm busy grinding"

Scale down or remove the whole system, it will just continue to reduce rp more then it is now if players have to focus on grinding to remain relevant

nexus literally does not encourage RP

i spent days trying to ICly locate a blacksmith to make a blade as a gift for someone

when i did locate one who was active and willing, they didn't even RPly make the blade.

RIP.

If you're like me, then you want the whole damn system abolished because YOU HATE GRINDING. I hop onto LOTC to RP, not grind skills. If I want to do that i'll hop onto Black desert or Runescape.

Cam we all take a minute to appreciate the arguement I had last month about ooc skills? The one where I got shot down for calling people out for having characters that don't follow RP when it comes to skills? Like SquirtGun who has 2-3 SuperCal skills on a 19 year old character?

My character isn't 19 years old.

Nor was she 19 years old a month ago.

My character's age is set to the age she would appear in RP as she's an Elf.

It's not nice asking a lady her age.

Would you be in favour of or opposed to a complete skill wipe? (That means resetting all currently accumulated exp for all professions to zero for all characters)

No.

Would you be in favour of or opposed to a partial skill wipe? (That means that all currently accumulated exp is scaled back. An example being something like “All Aengulic crafters are now set to Veteran”)

Yes.

If you are in favour of a partial skill wipe, how far scaling back do you think would be reasonable?

Depends, explained below.

Would you be in favour of or opposed to no skill wipe at all?

Depends, explained below.

Can you tell us why you are in favour of a particular system?

Nexus-Skills is far from perfect. I have no issues agreeing with that, as there are many faults to it.

Whether it be long cooldowns that gate you by time and prevent you from having that instant-gratification, allowing you to move onto the next thing. Or whether it be the short cooldowns, that force you to stand next to your work station for hours making items instead of roleplaying. Or whether it be certain items only being accessible to certain groups of players based on regions/biomes. Or whether it be certain items simply not being in the game and developers unaware of this. Or whether it be the huge spike in PvP % weapons and armors for later levels that force players to have a high smith in their group or good OOC relations with one to have a supply of competitive PvP gear. Whether it be at the highest level possible, it still takes hours to feel like you've collected a decent amount of *insert resource*. Or something completely different.

However, Nexus-Skills still brings something unique to the server that many other servers do not have, putting LotC on a different level than other servers. However, the unique and interesting leveling system should not be the core/center of the server's functions, but an add-on. It should not prevent players from doing basic, day to day things, but should also reward those players who do invest their energy and time into it.

These rewards should not be +60% Weapons, because that makes it a necessity to have. Such bonuses should cap out at lower levels. We have increased health to have longer "more exciting" fights, why introduce weapons that 2-hit people then?

I believe the gathering professions, for the most part, are sound. A slight chance at getting a random drop while mining, it isn't game breaking and few feel the /need/ to grind higher for that extra .5% chance of getting an extra glowstone.

I'd like to see some other helpful, non-gamebreaking, bonuses be added to crafting professions. Say for blacksmithing, when you craft a chest plate, there's the chance that it will use one less ingot than normal to make. A simple example that's still a nice bonus, but is not needed to have an even playing field.

A few arguments I've seen being thrown around, A skill wipe will let new people have a fair chance! We'll have new people at the top and in control! New players don't have a chance at getting on the Top 10!.

All of these are nonsense.

I've been on the server for less than a year. During my first month or so on the server, I was legendary farmer. I then erased my farmer skill, and a few months later I became Demonic Miner. Few months later, Supercal Miner. New players have the exact same chance that I did, the exact same chance that any player has, to level a skill. It simply takes determination and drive.

As for saying we want new people to start fresh, to get all the old people out of the top and in control of the market.... We don't do this for anything else. Nations revolve around the same select group of players that control every movement and thought, magic groups keep their guild locked spells to their cliques and OOC friends. New players have a harder time getting into the actual Roleplay aspects of this server and actually make a difference, than trying to level a skill and getting on the list.

To those that say Nexus-Skills doesn't provide profession RP, its what you make of it. Anytime a new player asks for a job or an item, I direct them to "PlayerX, they run the InsertProfession shop in town. You can get what you need/you can learn the trade from them." If you don't want to do that/feel its a waste of your time, that's your decision to leave an avenue for potential RP to go underutilized.

At the end of the day I'd like to see Nexus-Skills reworked. I'd like it to maintain its framework as it helps set LotC from other servers. However, I'd like to see the bonuses, the cooldowns, the numbers in generally really, all looked at closer and adjusted. I feel some basic things should be available to all players, like construction blocks, and encourage those die-hard grinders to go for that slight bonus instead of the entire player base feeling the need to grind to just be on par as to everyone else.

As said before by others, if you do wipe skills completely, those at the top will simply grind to the top once more. It's what we do, it's what we enjoy.

As always, I'm more than willing to sit and talk and test numbers, experience, and bonuses to help ensure a fair and fun(ctional) plugin is provided. I'd like to see some of the data I was asked to collect for hours and my comments/suggestions actually be used as well.

(Gonna stop before I start rambling too much from sleep deprivation.)

A full skill wipe. Keep it traditional like the previous maps.

A new start doesn't mean a new grind. It means it gives other players a possibility to set a foothold on the server and not be outmatched so quickly.
