As the mars mission progresses beautifully the Chinese defense ministry finishes the development of its lightweight type-36 personal body armor.

vest-tf3-b.jpg

Capable of stopping rounds of 7.62 from any distance 20m or greater while not sacrificing agility and mobility the armor will surely prove invaluble in close range engagements where regular body armor cannot take a bullet of that caliber at such short range. The armor is quickly prototyped with with Chinese special forces with around 10,000 units. While another 400,000 await production following the test period.

Meanwhile the final j-20 air superiorty fighters roll off the production line and all 100 are shipped to various air bases across the nation

Chinese investors begin taking tours of the now deconstructed favellas and begin picking out spots for the various factories that will be placed there.

Hoping to find metals and other resources that could aid in future missions the samples are being tested on site. (Mod pls @_pok_)

On Mars, the astronauts find varying amounts of precious metals, though the fruits of such a mission can be accurately evaluated. The most abundant type of precious metal appears to be copper, followed closely by Chromium. Traces of Titanium and Aluminum have been detected in some parts of the region, though no large deposits of any single material have been found as of yet. The testing site would probably appear to be too small to really find any deposit in large quantities.

As Secretary Jinping goes out into New York, he is met with relatively mixed reactions. Most Americans don't even recognize the man, those that do either are too fearful to approach the man and his security detail, or otherwise hope to mind their own business for fear of being called some type of Chinese sympathizer. Some New Yorkers meet the Chinese president with boos and chants of varying insults. Others simply hope for a selfie or some other sort of recognition just so they can say they were in the presence of an influential world leader, regardless of their political views. Though nothing really came out of it, it was certainly an interesting social experiment conducted by one of the most powerful men in the world.

Operation Little Brother

Spoiler

The world stood silent as the news rolled in of China's fully discontinued support of North Korea. In the darkness of night Japanese Navy and Airforce alongside the American navy and some portions of its air force flooded into South Korean airfields and naval bases. All troops along the DMZ were put on high alert alongside all airmen being put on minute's notice to launch, the Navy's of the coalition forces of South Korea, Japan, China, and the United States sat poised alongside the legal maritime borders of North Korea. War was on the horizons, and once the moon settled amongst the stars the North Korean Capital of Pyongyang erupted into gunfire.

EAMdSPG.jpg

In all directions surrounding North Korea anti-missile defenses were poised and ready towards the skies to strike down any last attempts for the Kim Regime to scar the Earth.

The Coalition’s navy rushed across the maritime border as planes left flight decks, helicopters began their flight to North Korean soil, and the navy’s pounding of North Korean craft and ports began.

Armored and mechanized columns supporting amassed Japanese troops to the north flooded over the ill prepared border of the once two close nations of North Korea and China.

Japanese paratroopers aboard helicopters launched from helicopter carriers began to land on North Korean artillery positions and missile launch sites.

Along the DMZ was the bloodiest of all the initial fighting, artillery erupted alongside masses of gunfire, structures and vehicles collapsing in flaming heaps, men’s internals strewn about the landscape as they set off land mines in their charges to the other side, and Coalition anti-tank helicopters peppering North Korean armor.

In the skies Chinese and American strategic bombers flooded and began dropping mass payloads upon North Korean Strategic facilities, and Coalition interceptors and fighters began to engage the outdated North Korean airforce.

Japan and the United States

Spoiler

Prime Minister Gen Nakatani sat in the silence on his flight into Seoul the morning of Operation Little Brother. He was driven into a heavily secured command center located within Seoul and sat alongside the military staff of the Coalition. Awaiting for the Chinese go ahead once nightfall struck the Peninsula.

Once the go-ahead was received an American armada consisting of the USS Ronald Reagan nuclear-powered supercarrier, 5 Zumwalt-class destroyers, 6 Freedom-class littoral combat ships, alongside Japan’s full armada including its three helicopter carriers which were poised with anti-armor helicopters and transport helis filled with Elite Japanese Paratroopers began their strikes in North Korean waters. The armada being lead by Admiral Philip S. Davidson.

American and Japanese air force gave full support in the onslaught upon the North Korean outdated and ill-fueled air force, and began bombing operations upon strategic location in North Korea. Anti-armor helicopters flooded out along the DMZ pounding North korean armor and artillery in addition to small attack helicopter contingents aiding with Paratrooper landings.

Most of Japan’s army sat upon the Norther Sino-Korean border with a few sizeable contingents sat alongside the DMZ with Coalition forces. American forces were amassed and ready along the DMZ. Once the go-ahead was given by Chinese Government the troops began to open fire upon North Korean positions and advancing, mostly to the North which had Chinese armor supporting its initial push.

China

Spoiler

As General Secretary Xi Jinping got off the phone with the other leaders from New York he began making calls to initiate Operation Little Brother.

At midnight various bases within China erupted

Into alarm as crews scrambled to their HY-6 strategic bombers

http://www.military-today.com/aircraft/h6.jpg

Over 100 of the bombers streaked in formation across the border with various targets throughout North korea. From armored columns that might threaten the South Korean advance to any anti ship installations along the coast 50 of the newly built J-20 air superiority fighters streaked ahead of them dominating any of the MIG-29s that tried to take flight and hamper the coalitions advance.

Equipped with the brand new type-36 armor 500 of the Chinese special forces took to the skies in various helicopter and HALO insertion teams. With 50 of the operators being committed to Kim Jong Un’s palace the teams were armed with non lethal weapons as well as firearms in the hopes of capturing the leader alive.

The other 400 operators were tasked with capturing the 20 different short range nuclear missile silos in an attempt to prevent any launches.

Darting between naval ships and air bases in china and south Korea 50 Z-10 attack helicopters operated in 25 hunter killer teams to act in support of the special forces should they need it. Along the Sino Korean border more aircraft stood on standby to attempt to shoot down any missiles launched.

Xi Jinping put on his coat and went out for his walk.

South Korea

Spoiler

Park Guen-Hye and her military commander would stand side by side, watching the jets roll into the airfields, as people ran around the command center preparing for what was to come. They had prepared the best possible anti-aircraft alongside the coalition of other countries, that the world had to offer in the event that the North tried to send out and missiles. Hopefully the missiles would be shot down close to the border as to not bring harm to the people of Seoul. Their own jets would fly alongside those of the Chinese, escorting them and helping them accomplish the goals of the night.

Park Guen-Hye, and her advisors would meet with the other leaders of the coalition as they watched the events unfold in her command room, hoping for the best.

Sweden

The room was well lit, uncomfortably bright for some. It was hazy with cigar smoke. A few very select members have ever made it this far. Few have entered this room, heard the truth. Several men and women were seated around a table. The table was imposing, crescent shaped and black. Besides that nothing else was in the room. Artur Carlsson -prime minister of Sweden- is the source of the cigar smoke. And the power. He was by no means physically imposing. At the ripe age of sixty, Artur looked rather old. But he took it in stride, did not let it bother him. In fact he still looked good, in a warm grandfather way. Thats how they all looked up to him. The grandfather figure of a benign Sweden, shepherd of the flock. Alongside good old King Carl, the two are respected. But things were tense in Sweden, they always were. The ruling party of leftist had gradually been diminished. As immigration crisis continued, restrictions were needed. People blinded themselves to it, but a full 15% of Sweden's population was foreign born. And so led to the achingly slow but steady rise of the Centre-Right Party-(CRP/Alliance for Sweden).

Things were not radical though, at least not yet. In the Riksdag, seats are hotly contested for. A more conservative party, Alliance for Sweden, actually managed to get the majority. Only by a few seats, but it spoke volumes. However the Left was not about to let a fight go so easily. They were always campaigning, collecting support. Sweden's smaller parties have formed a minority coalition, merely trying to remain relevant. The CRP did were not stiff conservatives by any means. But many were, though they knew not to rattle their pens too furiously. They instead worked with the other parties, kept furthering Swedish glory. Through much fiery rhetoric and simple logic, the CRP passed a few laws. Immigration laws would begin to tighten. Swedish troopers not engaged in global actions would be called forth. On a volunteer basis, these troopers would patrol Sweden's borders. Besides the initial men needed, border patrol will receive extensive training and receive specialized equipment before being sent it. Another point was lowering the amount of money Sweden put back into her people. For now however it was staunchly blocked.

All of this was mere politics to the people in that bright room. Finishing his cigar, Artur put it in an ash tray. Still lazily trailing smoke, it gently smoldered. Sweden's politics were troubling, seemingly getting more complex and aggressive. But there were darker stains. Artur and this small gathering of politicians formed a elitist group. They were puppeteers, working on mutual agendas to further political goals. Some were Leftist, others part of the CRP. Artur himself being a CRP member was their first among equals. He was more centre then right, held the love of his people. But in reality he manipulated their perception, went his own way. After hours of discussion, concluded with cigars, their plan was ready. It would begin to be implemented on Sweden soon enough. Their first priority was to make sure a few key votes swung their way.

-Sweden's stance on the EU plan to have joint military was answered by Prime Minister Artur Carlsson.

"No, I say!" The old man said in his warm voice. "I mean no disrespect to the idea, or the planners behind it. But no. Like sticking to our own currency, some elements of our own cultures or government should remain..diverse. The EU is not like other alliances, not meant to kick in doors and have armies. We are better then that, we are European."

-[!] U.N. - [Sweden] [!]

[Yay]

-Sweden's government makes a majority vote. The topic is addressed to their commitment to the Nordic Council. A large majority voted to add more, to expand the ideas. Championed by the CRP, it was a appealing idea. They wished for other members of the Nordic Council to have 174 seats intead of 87. This would double the Council. It was hoped that more power would be allowed by all members to the Council. Sweden agreed to loose some of it's autonomy, alongside others if they agree, to allow a more centered group. Nothing drastic is proposed, just the beginnings of expanding a Council that could benefit them all. No huge designs like military, government, or economies is sent. Instead they focus on smaller things. Smuggling laws, water territory, resource rights, open borders. Sweden wanted it and her fellow Scandinavian sisters to take it a step at a time. (Mod Please)

-The U.K is contacted by Swedish Riksdag representatives. Though they still support the EU, Sweden had always had a independent attitude. They too had kept their own currency. No actual choice or vote would be made to leave the EU. Sweden was happy where she was, but wanted to also branch out. Swedish interest were mainly in establishing trade, and purchasing military hardware. It is proposed the two nation's monarchs meet in London for an official ceremony.

-The CRP begins to push for Sweden to return to a partial conscription. They argue in times like these it would be better to have a higher percentage of troops/reserves. Nothing severe is hoped for, just a gradual climb in men taken into the armed forces. (Mod please) besides that Sweden depends on a highly motivated and equipped but under strength army. Their hoped edge is to increase focus on mechanized infantry. A new /type of aircraft/ helicopter. It's primarily build will be heavily armored in the front and big. Each Bumble Bee will be armed with modern weapons mainly of anti-air. Some guns and missiles will also be implemented for ground targets. Their main purpose however will be to carry troopers. Equipped with parachutes for high deployment, squads ride in the rear. It is hoped a squad of troopers and a small AFV could fit int he rear. They're called Bumble Bees due to their tradeoffs. Though armored well and able to transport/pack a bite, these helicopters would be less maneuverable. It is hoped air superiority can negate that. ((7 pages))

In regards to the Nordic Council, the nations of Norway and Denmark openly embrace the increased integration and even suggested more cooperation in the future. Though the other two full members of the council, Iceland and Finland, approved these measures with some hesitance, citing some fears of losing their national identities. While they support these ideas, they may not be so enthusiastic in the future.

The military recruitment drive goes relatively poorly in Sweden as the population has grown rather in complacent in a society that has limited its participation in armed conflicts since the end of the 19th century. Though recruitment does increase, it does not do so at the desired pace and a more immediate threat would have to strike the Swedish people in order to incentivize them to enlist.

The Kim dynasty was on its last leg. No North Korean contingency planned had accounted for the betrayal of China and the invasion of Japanese soldiers from the North. The Northern forces quickly sweep through the bitter cold of the Northern Korean frontier, driving through such legendary regions like Chosin where U.S. Marines once fought Chinese forces in the first Korean War. Now they fought together.

It was said that the United States was capable of completely capitulating the North Korean side of the peninsula in 23 hours without any allied involvement. With the Chinese, Japanese, and South Korean forces though the city of Pyongang was all but surrounded in the first 13. Kim Jung-Un stepped out to meet a congregation of his people assembled throughout the capital, and ceremoniously committed suicide, promising that he would lead them all in glorious heavenly afterlife. Hundreds of thousands of Koreans, especially those within the armed forces, commit mass suicide almost as soon as they hear the news, and soon the North has all but collapsed. Now they greatest task would begin, the reintegration of a people whose cultural identity and way of life was nearly the exact opposite of their neighbor and whose reality had been warped for above 60 years by an oppressive regime.

Though Operation Little Brother was a resounding success, the human toll on the side of the North was unprecedented. It would now be up to the allies to solve how they would settle this issue.

The Republic of Turkey

A huge smile had formed onto Erdogan’s face as news of the multi-purpose fighter jet had finished, and it was to soon begin construction. This jet would revolutionize air combat as it was known today. Air superiority was within reach again. The Turkish Air force academies would immediately begin training with these new jets in combat simulations to prepare them for the new generation jet. Details of the jet are kept in private for know. No nation would know of the jet until the time was necessary. Anyone caught attempting to leak any information on the jet would be imprisoned for treason. A cyberweb team was set up for this specific situation. To moderate Turkish civilians to cover the tracks of leaks.

State of Japan

The loss of life within the North was staggering and crushed any of the numbers predicted by the statisticians of any of the Coalition forces. A state of mourning is declared in Japan for innocent lives lost in North Korea and those whom lives have been forever altered.

Prime Minister Gen Nakatani leaves with a small Japanese armored convoy to Pyongyang the location which trials are to be held against members of the Kim Regime who committed crimes against humanity.

Military and Civil

  • Admiral Katsutoshi Kawano is the man whom is given the prestigious honor of christening the first Japanese fixed wing aircraft carrier to be constructed in Japan since World War 2. The name of the new line of advanced naval carriers being the Momotaro-Class.

  • Japanese military begins the withdrawal of its air force and navy from Korean Peninsula.

  • In less prestigious news, outside of environmentalist groups, Japan's publically revealed its finalized prototype of small commercial ships specialized in the combating of multiple forms of waterborne pollution.

  • Within the former state of North Korea hold outs of North Korean resistance are obliterated and vast networks of refugee camps begin construction, most of which are manned by Japanese volunteers.

  • The outdated armaments within North Korea which were captured by Japanese Army are sent to captured harbors to be loaded aboard cargo ships and be transported to Northern Japan for storage. Most of the armaments are then given to the authority of Japan's Intelligence Agency, Naicho.

  • Large Japanese media companies are hired out to film the liberation of North Korean work camps and recordings of the fall of various monuments of the Kim Regime, and the footage is offered to various international news agencies for the world to see. [Mod Plz]

  • Japan also sets up a global and national food and clothing drive to help feed and clothe the Korean refugees residing in refugee camps littering North Korea landscape and amassed along the strict borders of nations. [Mod Plz]

While the mars mission is becoming more of a reality each day, the Swiss public looks to the east, at the devastated North Korea. The government has passed new legislation to hopefully help the affected areas recover. 25,000 Swiss francs are offered to the coalition forces to be distributed among both South and North Korea. Also, Swiss volunteers have been sent via train and plane to Korea to hopefully aid those involved in the war. [[Mod Please]] [[5 pages]]

While Switzerland was neutral in the war, President Dietrich has made a national address to the Swiss people. Though there is some push back from the finance ministries of these member states, the leaders of those nations accept the proposals. The same approval passes for the foreign policy task force. Anti-corruption commissions are instituted in all member states as well.

The three nations offered membership: Gabon, Eq. Guinea, and Mauritania, accept the offer but request slower integration so that their nations may more appropriately adjust to the ECOWAS conditions. Angola, eager to escape the encroachments of Brazil, accepts the half membership offer from ECOWAS, chiefly the unified currency and such.

The reaction of the global public is one of absolute terror and horror at the conditions of the North Koreans within the prisoner camps. [!] UN - UNITED KINGDOM [!]

The British diplomat rises once more, soon after the Brazilians finish their speech, and begins his own sharp retort.

"We do not doubt that it is the right and prerogative of the Brazilian state to defend its people, and mobilise in order to maintain the security of its borders if threatened. Nor do we deny that the Argentinians made a response that was far too militant - though this may be out of fear due to Brazil’s self-proclaimed ‘position of strength’. All of these facts that the Brazilians proclaim are indeed truths are we recognise that.

However, what we do not recognise, is Brazil’s right to invade Argentina due to this slight. While your response in mobilising is one that we would copy if threatened, it is quite some step to then invade! Are we truly to believe that you, with your boastful display of strength and demand that we do not show empathy, are defending yourselves? Is it not Argentina that now needs defending, given your utmost aggression?

An offer for a union is not mere, and nor is your full invasion. Unless you withdraw your forces to the original borders and issue an apology to the Argentine nation for invading, we shall propose the following motion:

[] In order to preserve peace, employ economic sanctions against the Brazilian state, along with military sanctions and the deployment of troops beneath a British-led coalition to defend Argentina. A 60% majority shall be required for military action, and any majority for economic sanctions.

THE UNITED KINGDOM

The time is 2:30PM and at Sandhurst the PM watches a delegation of soldiers assemble upon a thin, tarmac strip, each holding their new rifles. The dozen-strong group each shoulder the weapons before bringing them down, cradled in their arms, as they fire off a couple rounds each to the targets - each with an alarmingly well trained accuracy. The new rifle, CH-12, has been distributed widely to new troops, primarily to those based in the Falklands.

Meanwhile, in northern Scotland, another launch is made close to the naval base of Scapa Flow. This one is a far more grandiose occasion though - attended to by the Defence Secretary, Tristram Hunt, as the various dignitaries assembled witness the launch of the UK’s second aircraft carrier, HMS Atlee, as it sails away - headed to join the rest of the RF at the Falklands.

Accompanying the ship, primarily transported by plane, go three divisions of paratroopers, two of marines, and a squadron of SAS soldiers - trained for special forces based missions. Given the recent swelling of support, the new count of forces assembled at the Falklands Islands comes to:

Aircraft Carriers: 2

Destroyers: 4

Submarines: 6

Fighters: 76

The United Kingdom also makes a number of purchases: a set of Eurofighter planes, [[5 PAGES]], two new destroyers [[6 PAGES]], and the research of a new set of amphibious landing crafts, the brief of which will be revealed later. [[8 PAGES]]

Diplomatically, the United Kingdom responds to the Australian offer to reinstate knightly titles positively, though the Queen makes an unusual (and likely politically motivated) request: she will only send off the Prince of Wales, William, to complete the ceremony personally once the situation in Argentina has de-escalated. The purchase of naval bases goes ahead smoothly as permanent personnel are transferred over.

The U.K. responds to the United States offer with glee, the idea of reaffirming the special relationship is welcome as the Prime Minister arranges a state visit and offers the transfer of the new CH-12 rifles in exchange for some equivalent piece of technology. An open hand is similarly offered to both India and Canada, both important nations in the Commonwealth, to engage in technology sharing.

Dan Jarvis, the PM, accepts Sweden’s generous offer to meet in London - arranging a date - while also proposing that the pair engage in a bilateral trade agreement to allow the newly produced and cheap British exports to flood the Swedish market - raising their citizens’ standard of living.

The British make an offer to Guyana, given the relative unrest in the region, of temporary governance by the British - involving a military and economic pact with political aid - to strengthen their local position. While not annexation, and more an offer of autonomous governance, it is clearly stressed that any arrangement will be temporary and last only as long as the local government desires. [[MOD PLEASE.]]

With the economic boom that had occurred the British allow themselves to breathe a sigh of relief and turn their gaze to other markets. As the fiscal stimulus and investment bill begins to stimulate growth the effort turns towards debt reduction, dangerously high after the Brexit event, and the only remaining sector that is boosted is agriculture - both in response to the Swiss actions and a need to be self-sufficient. Should debt reduction occur sufficiently, and to a reasonable extent, any remaining money would be spent upon an expansion of the conditions for servicemen and a recruitment campaign. [[MOD PLEASE.]]

[X] Nay, do not provide the information of all multi-national corporations in order to prevent corporate tax havens.

[X] In order to preserve peace, employ economic sanctions against the Brazilian state, along with military sanctions and the deployment of troops beneath a British-led coalition to defend Argentina. A 60% majority shall be required for military action, and any majority for economic sanctions.

[!] U.N. - [United States of America]

"Our first issue will be the British proposal to make the economic profiles of multinational nations available to all auditing organizations, with a universal method of taxation being instituted to close loopholes in regards to corporate tax havens and international tax evasion. All nations are expected to vote on this matter."

[
X] Yay, provide the information of all multi-national corporations in order to prevent corporate tax havens.
[ ] Nay, do not provide the information of all multi-national corporations in order to prevent corporate tax havens.

"The next issue present for the General Assembly is the issue of the rising conflict in South America. After a meeting of some non-partial U.N. security experts, several approaches have been suggested as a path to take. Today two will be proposed, though do not hesitate to present your OWN solutions for which we may vote upon."

[
X] In order to preserve peace, threaten the Brazilians with U.N. military action as well as economic sanctions which will greatly hamper its already volatile economy. Such an action will require a 60% voting majority to deploy military forces, though any sort of victory will enact economic sanctions.

[ ] In order to preserve peace, require the Argentinian government to cede a small strip of land along the border for starting the conflict with war games and hope the Brazilian government will accept such a concession as enough to stop any further military escalation. This is at the cost of a potential humanitarian crisis in the region.
