THE UNITED KINGDOM

 

For a country that had teetered so close to the edge, she hadn't done a bad job. Of course, the vote to leave the European Union had been an economic disaster - the pound had fallen to 1.15 against the USD before slowly, gradually stabilising and gently crawling back from the edge. The decision to leave had caused an enormous influx of migrants, 800,000 in two years, but now the borders were “controlled” and annual net migration was down to the tens of thousands again. Manufacturing jobs had been lost in their thousands, along with financial sector employment, and the City of London took its largest hit ever. The country looked ruined.

 

 

From the ashes, though, struggled forth survival. With Theresa May installed as Prime Minister just four weeks after the 23rd, Independence Day according to the late Nigel Farage, a hardline approach was taken to economic recovery. Crabb’s failed leadership bid had held a single worthy element - an investment fund - was carried forwards by May in a shocking use of Keynesian thought by the British Right. With historically low borrowing rates the UK government had begun to borrow upwards of £200 billion and pump them into manufacturing jobs in Wales, northern England and Scotland. Sturgeon’s abortive bid for independence had totally collapsed, leading to a couple of shocking by-election defeats for the SNP a parliament. Glasgow East saw a 35% swing to Labour, allowing them to retake the seat, following an intense and engaged campaign, while Glasgow South saw a 25% swing, leaving the SNP hanging on by a thin thread.

 

As manufacturing jobs struggled back, the country saw a brief respite from recession, barely struggling on to its recovery. Only six months after the sudden boom May undertook an emergency cabinet reshuffle and instated Leadsom, a rabid right-winger, to the position of Chancellor. While the political ramifications of such a move and the abandonment of the economic centre-ground are yet to be seen, her decisions to slash British corporation tax to a level of 12%, historically low and labelled by Opposition MP’s as an attempt to make Britain into a “supersized tax haven”, is soon to be seen. Only two months into her premiership May had shuffled in the disgraced former defence minister Liam Fox to Defence Secretary, bringing with it a number of controversial moves. Construction immediately began on a new aircraft carrier, given the failure of Cameron’s government to invest in defence, [[6 PAGES]] and over 2,000 British servicemen were deployed to Gibraltar given the new troubles with Spain. With a controversial vote tabled in Parliament in 2 months on Trident renewal, likely to cause issues for the struggling Opposition beyond lifelong nuclear disarmament campaigner Jeremy Corbyn, a public stance was taken to put research into improved conventional rifles in order to support ground troops. Perhaps the greatest issue though, and the one that would be most defining to May’s career as Prime Minister, would be a ‘new deal’ with the EU. In hopes of achieving one she has dispatched Philip Hammond, Foreign Sec, to Berlin to meet with the Chancellor Merkel in talks. Similar efforts are made towards Canada and Australia, however these are in regards to the creation of a similar free-trade zone within Commonwealth countries.

Swiss Confederation

Despite being economically weakened after the stock crashes that followed Britain's exit from the EU, Switzerland is coming into a golden age of prosperity. Nations once again have faith in the Swiss banks, and agriculture is at a decent state to where they can export grain and other commodities. [[MOD PLEASE]]

Despite Switzerland's infamous neutrality, the president, Dietrich Morhart, has taken the hold of a new policy. This policy is meant to establish peace to the world, and hopefully stop WWIII as tensions between it's neighbors once again threaten the peace and stability of Europe, and indeed the world. Thus, the Swiss people have voted in favor of creating a new peace organization, the European Peace Organization, or the EPO. Know though, that the organization is not strictly for Europeans. Invitations to join the "alliance" have been sent to both Canada and New Delhi in the hope that they would join the peace movement.

Switzerland shall remain as the emissary of the US to countries not on good terms with the superpower, including North Korea and Cuba.

Brazil had awoken after the military coup d'etat of May, that helped Dilma Rousseff regain her presidency amidst turbulent economic times. The nation's long political struggle was eclipsed by the Brexit and the crumbling EU, by the election of Donald J. Trump, and so forth. What remained behind the courtains of headline news, were relevant developments across the entire world.

 

For Brazil, Dilma meant good news. Her middle-class oriented policy brought great things for the consumer /and/ vendor. As re-instated president, she reduced the taxation from 21% to 15% on products and corporate taxes. This of course caused a emptier treasury for some years, until the average consumer had massive amounts of capital to spend. It was the beginning of the economic ascension of the middle class; Poor people wouldn't be able to afford keeping the Capitalist market afloat otherwise.

 

 

  

 

Apart of her newly instated presidency, Rousseff intends to rework the Slums into a functional middle-class hub that is near large manufacturing, selling or producing organizations. The Brasilia Police is send to aggressively assault cartel-controlled areas and establish zones of safety for the second phase of the plan.

 

Within a year (page), these zones should provide enough security for contractors to start demolishing the vavela residences of Sao Paulo and replace them with cheaply crafted but orderly housing with bettered infrastructure and proximity to large job suppliers. Existing private enterprise, such as car mechanics or plumbers, will gain extreme autonomy but will be forced to integrate into the state's commercial network for registration.  Supplier is linked to seller, and the local labour force would be guided into being employed in the right company for the right job. The Federal Republic of Germany

 

After the recent Federal Elections in Germany the incumbent Chancellor Angela Merkel was defeated, rising crime rates, her failure to heed the word of the majority of the German people in her unpopular decision to take on so many refugees and migrants during the European Migrant Crisis that began in 2015. Merkels Political Coalition was sounded defeated with the Alliance of Progress and Renewal and the Alternative for Germany Party now forming a new coalition, due to the increased integration into the EU the Parties dropped their former Euroskeptic ways, instead looking further to democratize the existing EU structure using the German influence in the EU Parliament to do so. With a new Strong Majority Government formed the two parties chose Bernd Lucke as the new Chancellor of Germany with members of both parties forming the other leadership positions in the upper and lower houses of the German Parliament.

With further EU Integration on the horizon, Germany decides it will lead the way in further federalization but shows the rest of the member states of the EU that there must be change. Influencing Democratization in the EU to influence the EU Commission to hand over the powers of introducing legislation to the EU Parliament to the EU Parliament itself and further legislation that would create an elected upper house of the EU Parliament to replace the EU Commission. Lastly it is influenced that the creation of a full EU Military is put to EU Parliament [All EU Players will be required to give their Countries support or opposition to this kind of legislation].

 

With the Wars in the Middle East coming to a close, the New Government would adhere to the promises made during the election campaign, they would begin move to resettle the migrants back in their respective Countries, the New Government not interested in resettling the Migrants in Germany or forcing the German people to adopt to their ways. Likely being unpopular with Liberals and those left of the centre but the Migration issue needed to be settled for crime rates to go back down and for the people of Germany to feel safe once more. 

 

Germany would receive the United Kingdom Foreign Secretary and would begin immediately to negotiate a new deal between the United Kingdom and the European Union, with Germany being the mediator rather than Brussels.

The Portuguese Republic

The people were tired of the growing federalisation of the EU, they were tired of their loss of sovereignty, they were tired of the increase of immigrants, particularly the refugees of muslim descent, as they now took to the streets as the minorities felt out of place. This created a culture clash, something never seen in the nation, a them or us mentality, and it was clear that there would only be one victor of this battle, be it ‘them’ or ‘us’. Extreme rightwing groups took to the streets, Falangists, Salazarists and tamer groups such as the PNR (Partido Nacional Renovador) become highly popular. The left and liberal parties become worried, they ran propaganda and slogans such as “Say no to Fascism!” yet the people’s fury against, mainly the EU, could not be held back.

 

 

In June 2017 massive riots took place in Lisbon, Porto, Braga, Évora and other cities, a coalition of the PNR and smaller parties such as the United Falangist movement and the New Nationalist Union, said coalition called for the prime minister to step down.

 

 

António Costa, Prime Minister of the country denied to step down, calling the protestors “Brainwashed” and the leaders of the parties “Wolves in sheep’s clothing.”. Around this time a poll was done, 68% of the population agreed that the government was inadequate and should be removed in favour of either the PNR coalition or the PC (Partido Conservador).

 

In August of the same year the government was ousted by a branch of the GNR (Guarda Nacional Republicana), with connections to the falangist movement.

The United States of America

 

Under President Trump's leadership, the country had fallen into a slump of sorts, and the American populace was wishing for the power they once held. To solve these issues, 250 billion USD are to be invested annually into infrastructure for the next 6 years. In addition, 120 billion USD are given to the U.S. Department of Education to increase the standard of Education, as well as letting the Bush Tax cuts expire for only the top 2%, which will hopefully lead to an increase in tax money without causing too much of a recession. [[MOD PLEASE]]

 

The US also completely legalizes marijuana and collects tax revenue from marijuana sales through a 25 percent tax on producer sales to processors; a 25 percent tax on processor sales to retailers; a 25 percent tax on retailer sales to customers; a state Business & Occupation (B&O) gross receipts tax for all states; and varied local sales taxes. The total effective tax rate to be about 44 percent.This will save an estimated 7.7 billion USD annually. 

 

The US also passes a bill requiring everybody receiving unemployment checks to volunteer for a nonprofit organization and do volunteer work to ensure that every citizen is being productive. This will lead to an increase in jobs and a drop in homelessness as volunteers acquire skills and are no longer incentivized to remain homeless.

 

The United States will send ambassadors to China (@TAKEHESHOT) to see if the US can aid them with their real estate situation. They will also send ambassadors to Switzerland (@WALRUSGAMES) to inquire about the EPO.

"Mr Dahze clears his throat. "Mars, the goal america never reached. It would be very beneficial to us to make sure that this political economic and scientific achievement belongs to us. Starting in 2017, The Republic of South Korea would slowly but surely put more and more soldiers on the DMZ, preparing for the war that was sure to come. Many of the populace was not happy of this, but understood the necessity of this movement. To make up for it The Republic would begin to invest a small amount of 10 Billion USD, sure to rise higher in the future, into improving roads, schools, and the like. [[MOD PLEASE]]

 

In an effort to make the people feel better about the growing threat of North Korea, and increase their chances of survival, South Korea would send out ambassadors to Japan and the United States, asking for a good amount of help to wipe out North Korea should the need arise.

The Turkish Republic

 

President Erdogan appeared at a podium in front of the capitol building within Ankara. The crowd had appeared a new wave of nationalism was surging through the country. A long time enemy had finally been subdued. Erdogan cleared his throat as he waved to the crowd as he stood at the podium.

 

“Today is a wonderful day, it is my first time being able to speak to you, the people, following the defeat of ISIS. An entity that had caused us much pain and death has finally been removed from this earth. We shall no longer be burdened by their actions.

 

We will extend our economic help towards the rebuilding nations of Syria and Iraq. As we must show that we can be different and how we must not allow another weak government to form, and allowing these terrorist cells to spew forward. The middle east has always been portrayed as weak and a warzone. But we will not allow it to be one any longer. Today we shall propose a middle-eastern task force that is built to stop terrorist cells from ever becoming a persistent threat to Middle Eastern nations again.” (MOD PLEASE TO SEE IF OTHER MIDDLE EASTERN NATIONS WOULD JOIN THE TASK FORCE).

 

As the crowd cheers in excitiment Erdogan would step back to catch his breath and to speak again, “Today is a new day for us. We shall rise. I wish you all well.”

 

As he was escorted off the stage he was led to a meeting room, to discuss potential technology projects that the country would research and nations to renew trading deals with such as Brazil which was one of Turkey’s big business partners in South America a new message is sent to them requesting them to meet and discuss a new economic deal.

King Snoop releasing that the great Isis threat is gone, now focuses on maintaining that peace in the middle east. A new program was founded code named ‘ Khalid bin Waleed project’ after the great leader this project includes adding more animated forces to the Saudi Arabia army. The first step of this 200 billion project, that will probably last year’s,  is the research of sophisticated artificial intelligence. King Snoop has also announced that the great costs the royal family has used in the past (Roughly 10 million a year) shall be severely cut back the money that would've gone to the Royal family will be divided into various charities.

Following the KBW project new drone and AI compatible Tank’s, Airplanes, and infantry models shall be created. King Snoop’s 69’th child was born today, a health boy. The newborn prince was named George, after americans first president George washington, as a thank you to the USA for solving the terrorist threat in the middle east.

The agricultural industry within Switzerland continues to see a steady gain in market share across Europe as other nations struggle to maintain a healthy agricultural economy. Meanwhile, the Swiss military fundraisers see minuscule success as the public has very little interest in increasing the size of its standing army. The general consensus is that the Swiss government should divert funds elsewhere rather than bolster the national army

With several already well established tax havens across the globe, many billionaires and large corporations struggle to understand why they would want to move their money from already established locations. It would take a bit more incentive of some kind in order to draw more multi-national corporations into the United Kingdom.

The poll is met with great enthusiasm in most of Portugal and thousands of Portuguese citizens turn out to poll for this preliminary referendum. The results are rather clear though - about 60% of Portuguese citizens favor staying within the European Union while only 40% prefer to leave. It is assumed that the economic crisis that arose out of the British exit may still linger in the minds of those who voted to stay.

The Republic of South Korea

 

Starting in 2017, The Republic of South Korea would slowly but surely put more and more soldiers on the DMZ, preparing for the war that was sure to come. Many of the populace was not happy of this, but understood the necessity of this movement. To make up for it The Republic would begin to invest a small amount of 10 Billion USD, sure to rise higher in the future, into improving roads, schools, and the like. [[MOD PLEASE]]

 

 

 

 

While the public appreciates the support of the government in infrastructure and the like, they do not lose focus on the issue at hand: war. Not a soul within South Korea really wants war with the North, especially since the North could pose a legitimate nuclear threat to most of the country; Seoul in particular. A widespread campaign supporting the war would almost certainly have to be held in order to justify it in the eyes of the Korean people. Meanwhile in the North, armament ramps up to new levels as the threat from the South increases.

The Kingdom of the Netherlands

When the pound dropped after the event known as the Brexit, Euroscepticism in the Netherlands dropped drastically. Instead attention turned towards further cooperation with other European nations to create a strong currency and continental economy. The Dutch government looked into creating a tax haven similar to the City of London in Rotterdam, next to the harbour of Europort in order to draw more of the economic power from Great Brittain to the continent [[MOD PLEASE]].
 

Apart from speaking in favour of further EU integration, the Dutch government also spoke in favour of creating a united EU army. To initiate this process they began the research for a new type of Frigate [[8 Pages]]. As well as requestion permission and funds from the EU council to build an Aircraft Carrier to support their Union Navy.

The Dominion of Canada

 

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

 

"This session of Parliament is now concluded." Joseph Kennedy, the House of Commons speaker said as he rose from his seat at the top of the dais. A cacophony of wooden chairs sliding backwards filled the House as MPs rose to take their leave. Prime Minister Trudeau followed the gaggle of politicians out of the House into the hall and made his own hasty exit, towards a separate section of Parliament Hill. It was late in the evening, yet his duties for the day were far from over; he still had a Cabinet meeting to attend to, which typically lasted for several hours.

FOREIGN AFFAIRS

 

"Are we missing anyone?" Trudeau asked, shutting the door behind him after entering the meeting room. 14 Ministers sat around a large mahogany table.

"No, Mr. Prime Minister. Everyone is in attendance."

"Excellent." Trudeau took his seat at the head of the table, laying down several manila folders onto the table. "Let's get down to business, then, shall we?" The room was quickly alive with the sound of shuffling papers, pens clicking, and brief cases opening. The first Minister to speak was the Minister of Foreign Affairs Stephan Dion, his french accent very thick.

"We have several things to discuss, the first being a missive sent from the United Kingdom. Their Prime Minister wishes to establish a free-trade zone between our two countries."

Trudeau nodded, looking over the sheet of paper the Minister had handed him. "I see nothing wrong with it. Send word back that we will are willing to work together with them and draft up a suitable agreement." 

 

"Next," Dion continued, "we have received word from the Swiss ambassador. Switzerland is seeking to create a 'European' Peace Organization, its goal being to keep the peace in Europe, and eventually the World."

"Very ambitious." Trudeau mumbles, scratching at his neck. "For some time, Canada has had very little involvement in international peacekeeping operations. I've been wanting for Canada to get more involved for years now, however. Send word to the Swiss emissary that we are very interested in joining this organization, but wish to know more about would be required of us and what the goals of this group are."

 

"Annnd finally... the Chinese." The Minister pauses, clearing his throat, "Are attempting to go to Mars. In what seems to be an effort to improve relations, they have offered up space for two Canadian astronauts to join their landing party."

The Prime Minister chuckles, running a hand back through his hair. "And I thought the Swiss were ambitious, christ. Send work back and say that we accept their offer, and wish to know what they desire of us in return."

"That's all for foreign affairs, Mr. Prime Minister." Dion says, opening the floor for the next person.

"Alright, good. I want diplomats sent out to the US, South Korea, China, the United Kingdom, Australia, the Netherlands, Brazil and Portugal. With the Canadian dollar being 25% lower than the US Dollar, this would be an excellent opportunity for them to look at further trade with out country."

 

DEFENSE

 

The Minister of Defense, Harjit Sajjan assembled his paperwork on the table in front of himself before speaking.

"The United States and Poland are continuing to urge us to up our military spending so that it at least meets the minimum NATO requirements. We are currently spending less than 1% of our GDP on our Military, whilst the recommended is 2%. Now, I know they've been recommending this for years, but I truly believe that now is the time to do so. If we don't bump up our spending, our forces could be entering a new 'dark age'. There is a lot of new technology that we should be taking advantage of."

After a wave of murmuring made it's way through the group, Trudeau spoke.

"I see where you're coming from, and I agree with you. As unfortunate as it is, in order to be a major player in World Politics, you have to have a sizable military. Luckily, the legalization and taxation of Marijuana is already starting to pay off majorly [[MODERATOR]]. We will definitely spend a large portion of this tax revenue on Military. I want renewed research  to be on the Air Force, the Navy, and Infantry equipment.; i want our scientists working as much as they can on finding a more modern Fighter, more cost-effective yet respectable Cruisers and Aircraft carriers [[7, 8, and 5 pages, respectively]], and modernized rifles and arctic gear. I also want more money spent on military propaganda; stress how respectable our Military is, how we use it on peace keeping missions, et cetera [[MOD PLEASE]]." As the Cabinet members wrote or typed all of this down, Trudeau leaned back in his char. "Who's next?"
