Prime Minister Gen Nakatani appeared before the people of Japan in Tokyo for a live televised speech. He informed the nation of the stunning legislation that had just passed through both Upper and Lower houses of the National Diet, the rearmament of Japan. A controversial decision on an international scale and a national scale due to it effectively revising Article 9 of the Constitution, the decision sure to stir civil unrest and protests. The Prime Minister promised to the nation that this movement is not meant in aggression but in defense of the nation. The Korean Peninsula is unstable, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea field nuclear missiles capable of striking the Japanese homeland and in addition to Chinese aggression in the Sea of Japan over territorial disputes. Which were true justifications, all of these risks to Japan were the only reason the Diet had passed the legislation.

Despite what many appear to believe, the taxation of marijuana and its legalization has a very minuscule impact on the Canadian economy. Instead, it actually appears to be hurting the youth of the nation as youth productivity and work force participation decline at a steady rate. Homelessness among young people has also been on the rise since the legalization of marijuana. The government of Canada would have to make a decision regarding the well-being of its people or of its coffers. This occurs similarly in the UNITED STATES.

The efforts to glorify the military generally do not go over poorly, however it does very little to inspire the populace to enlist with just a 3% increase in enlistments per month. Though a small number, it is a start, and these numbers should prove encouraging if they wish to continue such an effort.

Though the campaign sees very little success internationally, domestic support reaches a near frenzy as wealthy Chinese hope to gain prestige and favor among their government by investing varying sums of wealth into the project. Those lacking large amounts of wealth simply contribute to the well organized crowd-funding campaigns underway. The Chinese people, and the world, wait anxiously for the next great chapter in manned space flight, and the Chinese people cannot help but feel great pride in their country being the one to take this next bold step.

Such efforts worldwide have never gone over well and often end up as a bit of a punchline across the globe, however the Japanese appear to have struck a cord with their people and though one cannot see the results yet, there certainly is love in the air all across the home islands of Japan.

• Nigeria calls upon all nations in ECOMOG (This is most West African Nations) to begin integrating their militaries into the body. The military organization acts as a major peacekeeping body in west Africa and has served the region well, carrying a good reputation in the region. The organization is currently mostly Nigerian dominated, but would change with integration. This integration would mean west Africa could act as one when combating terrorism, and pool resources together to fight any threats, and essentially bind them all in a strong defensive pact. (MODS PLS)
• Research into a new, mobile infantry transport vehicle is to begin. The vehicle carries mostly light armaments and is designed to traverse harsh conditions across Africa with ease.

 

The several ECOWAS actions undertaken by the Nigerians are generally well received without a whole lot of skepticism from the governments of other ECOWAS nations, however the general public does express some fears about working with regional rivals and increased cooperation. The governments of Chad and Cameroon announce that they will hold referendums on such membership and will return with the results soon (after your next post). 

The effectiveness and results earned by the new legislation can still not be definitively judged, and more time will have to be elapsed to see whether or not this legislation was effective.

The results of this effort are largely ineffective, though some smaller businesses are incentivized to stay within Turkish borders rather than move to cheaper labor areas across the Middle East and the Balkans.

This referendum for a unified language is met with a heavy amount of criticism and skepticism, and when the Swiss people go to the polls they almost unanimously strike down the effort with an unprecedented 90% vote in favor of not changing the language. This is for several reasons, but most prominently is the lack of a genuine alternative or otherwise refusal to detach from their ethnic heritage.

From the southern shores of Argentina, Australian Naval Forces are called in to bombard the coast and land their pacific divisions. Brazil already got a greenlight from the Australian PM to call them in, but their decision has yet to be formalized. (Post to be made).

War or not, the Brazilian economy had positive forecast given by a variety of financial institutions. The favela reformations for example, realised by heavy Australian funding , proved to be excellent for the enlargement of the formal sector in the urban economies. Cartel's and 'dark' business were reduced gradually as government-ran corporate networks allocated enough contracts to the people involved in the reformation, sector for sector. With several years since this program passed, a proud 500.000 were now living in low income housing with bills paid and jobs provided. A great, but unpopular feat with the citizens of the slums themselves.

 

The stagnant market of the EU-Portugal was flooded with cheaper Brazilian products, who outsourced their job to Portugal to get into the EU market. The 12.4% unemployed in Portugal were offered, like those in the favela's, a free crash course in a specific marketable expertise to aid in these outsourced Brazilian industries. It would create sustainable jobs and grant Portugal 49% of all corporate income from these Brazilian companies; who wouldn't utilise tax havens like some of  the alternative un-brazilian ones. Due to the success so far, Brazil offers even more to the Junta of Portugal:

 

- Synthetic reducation of lumber & oil exports to Portugal, also allowing many stagnating Portuguese corporations to merge into the international corporate networks provided by Australia & Brazil. 

 

- Portuguese Tourists do no longer require a visa to visit Brazil, a campaign is mounted to increase Portuguese tourism. 

 

- Portuguese Companies are considered 'native' in settling in Brazil, on the terms they integrate into the corporate networks of M.A.P.  Free movement of labour and goods is also provided. 

 

Australian technology companies gain massive favourability in Brazil, as most enter marriages of convenience with Brazilian ICT companies to counter the troubling Indian/Chinese corporate imperialism. Separately, I'd be hard to compete even internally.

The Brazilian delegation to M.A.P has invited Canada to enter bilateral talks with the Bloc. about membership, and potential Commonwealth integration. With Australia a fully pledged member, President Rousseff considered it much easier to involve their biggest allies for mutual prosperity internationally. The economic benefits were positive as of now, but were threathened by the slow integration of all European States and Nigeria's growth in the Africa's. 

 

 

Angola is also approached due to M.A.P growing worry with Nigeria's boom of influence in the region, appealing to their mutual ancestry of being a Portuguese colony. Angola is offered M.A.P membership and massive investment from the other members states, if it is to allow M.A.P officials advise the government towards a path of prosperity and free movement of troops, goods and services. Angola would become a very state with a lot of investment, with a political cost.

President Rousseff uses the commotion and confusing with the war and favela reform to push through controversial laws with a parlaimentary majority. A set of laws, called the 'The Statist Five', were legislation that would impose higher government control on corporate conglomerate's native to Brazil, while loosening regulation on enterprise outside of the umbrella. Economic nationalism would be the tone of M.A.P's Brazil, but other countries were still very able to invest in the Republic.

 

The bureaucracy surrounding the democratic process in the parlaiment was also reduced due to the military's coup d'etat some years ago in May, but was finally to become an accepted and fulfilled transition from a Republic to an executive presidency. The petty politics of bought and manipulated parlaimentary members slowly became disintegrated from the decision making of the elected President and her ministry.

The prospect of war in such a volatile market, one of incredible growth and optimism, was not well received by the people of Brazil; or the United Nations Security Council. Rather than respond with swift military force, the Argentines move to hold along the river that makes up most of the Brazilian border with explict orders not to fire unless fired upon by Brazilian forces. Meanwhile, destroyers are deployed to search for and destroy Brazilian submarines while the remainder of the fleet docks in friendly ports. 

The Argentines move to the United Nations where they would protest the actions of the Brazilian government as illegal, and accuse the Brazilian government of war crimes against the people of Argentina by starting this conflict over nothing war-gaming.

Angola, threatened by the aspect of war refuses to join M.A.P and instead turns to ECOWAS as a possible ally in case the Brazilians are bold enough to attempt to cross the Atlantic.

Economic growth previously unrivaled except in India and China grinds to a halt as many Brazilian citizens fear recession or rationing as a result of the war and consumer good consumption plummets, especially in the provinces bordering Argentina. Small protests are held in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, and Brasilia to protest the war and hopefully put an end to it before a significant amount of South American lives are lost.

The execution and careful planning of Desert Crescent allowed it to be an operation of resounding success as Boko Haram cells are systematically wiped from the northern regions of Nigeria and bordering states. As the terrorist group feels its influence fading and its lifespan slow trickling away, the group launches one massive, final act of terror before vanishing from existence from defeat. Multiple bombings occur simultaneously across the country as roughly 800 Nigerians lose their lives to these acts of terror. Most bombs are set off in large, soft targets such as shopping malls or along busy freeways with congested traffic. Though the losses are great, what the attack does signal is that Boko Haram is desperate and these acts are their last gasps of breath before life is choked from them. 

In Chad and Cameroon, the funds invested by Nigeria, as well as general popular support for the alliance, lead to overwhelming results in both referendums in favor of joining ECOWAS. As a symbol of unity, Chad and Cameroon send a fair amount of economic aid to Nigeria following the terrorist attacks by Boko Haram as well as military support against the last few holdout cells. 

In West Africa, the ECOWAS movement comes across as a force almost entirely for good and many countries voice their outright support for the program or desire to join. The attacks in Nigeria only strengthen these sentiments as many voices cry out in favor of "one strong, united West Africa." However Central Africa poses a different challenge with many opposing integration with the West. These sentiments are especially high in the Central African Republic, Congo, and D.R. Congo.
