President Warren's first action is passing a bill for the re legalization of marijuana. Though it proved disastrous last time, with the added public schooling money, youth are less disinterested in society and therefore less likely to abuse the drug. It is a massive success, and money the money from it is put into lowering the costs of tuition. The US economy is still in a slump, having dropped behind China in terms of GDP and almost fallen behind Japan, but now has a large population of extremely well educated and interested youth, which brings the economy on the rise again.

 

President Warren gratefully accepts China's gift of the type-36 body armor and it is distributed mostly to the US Marine Corps. Construction begins on more of the armor to replace conventional body armor [[5 pages]]

 

Government relations with China are at a record high, and the gift of the body armor helps somewhat, but American citizens are still generally unhappy with China, which blocks further cooperation between the governments. 100 US citizens are chosen to partake in the mars mission, christened the Pilgrim I, and, along with the 100 Chinese citizens chosen, and they are brought to the Kennedy Space Center, the headquarters of the CAJSP, where they will prepare for the flight.

With the new propaganda waves and outreach programs, Catholics around the world are beginning to feel more connected to the papacy,  less independent and more unified. ACTIONS

Inspired by the progress of the economy, Pope Sergius sends missionaries to third-world countries, ordering them to establish hospitals and food banks for the needy. Missionaries are sent mostly to the Middle East, namely Syria, Palestine, and Iran. The missionaries work closely with other charitable organizations such as the Red Cross, in the hopes that more people will be inspired by their actions and convert to Catholicism.  ((MOD PLEASE))

The Pope makes a speech on live television declaring his sympathy for the countries and his desire to form ties and bolster Catholic populations in the area. In addition, Pope Sergius sends diplomats to Japan, the UK, and Germany to "Discuss opportunities for mutual growth."

Though greatly appreciated, the charitable efforts of the Catholic church do not do much to convert the people of the Middle East. However, the small amounts of missionaries sent to East Africa report resounding success, converting hundreds of formerly Islamic believers to the faith. It appears that the instability in the region has shaken the faith of many there and the people are willing to embrace a new, more tolerant faith.

Vatican City

Emboldened by the progress made in Africa, Pope Sergius diverts the remaining missionaries to increase the support being sent to Africa.  The ones stationed in the middle east remain, but no further missionaries arise. The Pope also diverts treasury funds to start the Vatican Television and Radio Publicity (The VTRP), which broadcasts about the Vatican's political movements and increases pro-catholic sentiment ((MOD PLEASE))

 

In addition, the Pope begins talks with the Italian government about buying large portions of countryside near Rome and developing it into farmlands, the idea being to give employment to Catholics near Rome.

The Pope declares Rome to be a "Holy City" and encourages Catholics to move there, claiming it will bring them closer to God. This is also broadcaster on the VTRP and advertisements are bought on major American, German, UK, Indian, Canadian, and Portugese news channels. ((MOD PLEASE))

Republic of Peru

 

Pedro Pablo's government has seen a wave of reforms and improvements ushered into the country. Several education mandates to the public school sector means more of the population can receive basic and further education. The health department saw a massive reform - much to the mixed anguish and support of citizens. Rather than a decentralized system that led to disorganization and awkward insurances, the 5 blocks have been brought under a single entity, the PNHS - or Peruvian National Health Service. The sector is split into three branches, each occupying a cut of the annual budget for expenses: 10% for the private sector, 32% for the military and national service sector (policemen, firemen etc) and the rest towards the public sector. In order to avoid large hospital bills, childcare is free, as is health insurance for those who serve at least three years in the military or public service sector. This encourages a large increase in recruitment for the military and law enforcement.

 

The military has seen an increase in budget from 2.5 billion USD to 4.3 Billion USD. In a bid to expand the military in response to rising tension in the continent, the USA, India and China are asked to help modernize the armed forces. Only one country may get the chance to help, and in return they would see a significant rise in influence in the country. The Peruvian government calls it a potential chance to 'reap the benefits of access to South American trade networks'. As well, a new method of troop transport begins to be designed. Moving troops in vehicles through thick jungle - which occupies 60% of the country - is difficult, if not impossible. To combat this, a VTOL Dropship takes priority research. 

 

 

This VTOL quadcopter would fly at speeds of up to 400 mph to its destination, switch flight mode to hover, and fire jet propelled static lines into the ground from as high as 90 meters. From this, soldiers within the dropship (up to 20 men or two vehicles) will attach to these static lines and slide down them into target areas. Supplies can also be attached to these lines. This would allow for quick deployment into the jungle from above canopy height. ((7 pages))

 

A new infantry combat suit is also going under research. It is designed to be cooler and lighter for the soldier to wear, whilst still provided the same protection as kevlar. It is also supposed to increase camouflage in foliage. ((5 pages))

The Brazilian Situation

 

It has been far past time that another South American nation had spoke out about the actions of Brazil towards a sovereign nation of the continent. Pedro Pablo makes an announcement to the nations of Central and Southern America.

 

 

"The actions of Brazil are simply unbelievable. A country who, for decades, have ignored their Latin brethren, shrugged them off for foreign powers, dismissed them as useless or unimportant, had the audacity to ask for union with Argentina? Union with a true nation of sons and daughters of South America? Worse yet, they show their true colours. They have invaded the sovereign nation! Pretenders, that is what the leaders of Brazil are. Pretenders, trying to play the victim in order to justify their true bloodthirsty intentions - to gain control of the entire continent through force!

 

We have a chance here, sons and daughters of South America. A chance to show that we stand with unity against a bully that abandoned us for foreign trade. I call upon the Inter-American Treaty for Reciprocal Assistance. Article 9 of the treaty reads:

 

 

ARTICLE 9 In addition to other acts which the Organ of Consultation may characterize as aggression, the following shall be considered as such:    a. Unprovoked armed attack by a State against the territory, the people, or the land, sea or air forces of another State; b. Invasion, by the armed forces of a State, of the territory of an American State, through the  trespassing of boundaries demarcated in accordance with a treaty, judicial decision, or arbitral award, or, in the absence of frontiers thus demarcated, invasion affecting a region which is under the effective jurisdiction of another State.

 

"Members of the treaty: Chile, Columbia, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, Uruguay, Paraguay, the United States of America and all others - I urge you to take the necessary steps in order to defend Argentina from Brazilian imperialism! Peru stands true to this pact, and our military is prepared to help Argentina by any means necessary, though no offensive operations will be carried out."

 

Peru requests to send 12 divisions of men to Argentina, complemented by tanks and APCs, to help defend against the Brazilian invasion.

 

Meanwhile, with UN sanctions crushing the Brazilian lumber and fruit trade, Peru steps up it's legal logging operations in the southern part of the rainforest. Peru invites all nations to replace it's lost lumber, fruit and rubber trade with Brazil, with Peruvian goods instead.

United Russian Republic

 

Iery stands outside the Kremlin, looking out to all the media gathered outside. From there he makes a heartfelt speak denouncing the west and demanding all Russian patriots prepare for the wars to come. He also demands a formal apology from president trump if he wishes to keep the United States safe.

 

Elsewhere Russian troops mobilize on their western borders, beginning an offensive pushing into Belarus and Ukraine. The leaders of these two countries are offered peace and tranquility as long as they allow themselves to be annexed. Just after the Invasion Iery goes back on television and justifies the invasion by saying they are taking back land that is rightfully theirs and that any nation that stands in their way is assisting thieves and criminals.

The Republic of Turkey (QUICK POST)

 

The situation that was happening at the Iranian-Indian was one that would surely spark a world conflict. But Erdogan had pledged his support to the Iranians, he would not let the Middle-East be bullied and abused like it has in history past. They are contacted to ask if they could establish a military base that would allow for them to mobilize more quickly. If so immediately 75,000 active infantry would be deployed to help. Along with the highly classified multi-purpose jet fighter. President Erdogan very well knew the consequences, but he saw it as simply defending a nation.

The European Union

 

With the integration a relative success, the retaliation of the deluded nationalist fools came rather unexpected though. Now President Jean-Claude Juncker saw the old establishment crumbling under the new European order; with Belgium and Spain anxious of leaving the federalizing EU. Despite the French backseat moderating, the EU saw mixed signals from their Polish and Hungarian counterparts. They were against being integrated, but they weren't much of an independent country either. Their economy was streamlined with the central bank of the EU, and their military high command replaced with one in Strasbourg. Leaving was no longer an option. 

 

Inspired by the many political constructs that occupied the European continent in the past, such as the DDR, many methods of surveillance and censorship were put in place. The general media spoke favourably of the new EU 'state', denounced nationalism as a fascist construct of the 20th century, et cetera. A heavy crackdown on alternative media and forums were put in place, and the EU Bureau for Information started to set strict guidelines on what entered the EU as 'news'. It was time to disarm the sentiment of nationalism, and alter the truth.

 

A large mistake was made from its colleague's part, that being the retaliation against the integration of Europe. The EU was willing to trade, cooperate and even back certain regime's in return of recognition and border stability. Yet, nations such as France or Turkey went on to sabotage the process; aggressively proclaiming the alternative. For President Juncker, that alternative was not welcome:

 

 

"The European Union is a democratic entity, that through democratic means integrated a variety of countries into a stronger Union; one that stands for peace and stability. The alienation of our government, primarily from a fascist 20th century sentiment, is simply outrageous. We shall not steep to their level and play the game of petty politics. To the French and Portuguese delegates before me today, I assure you, this will be the last day you will be booing here." 

 

 

 

Amidst the Russian invasion of Belarus and the Ukraine, the Prime Minister was invited to an emergency EU-Russia summit to discuss an alliance and the cooperation between the governments. The EU couldn't afford more neighbouring hostilities, but it had to stand firm against the fascism that Russia had. However, a productive relationship was established: 

 

The Russian Federation's government, at the moment consisting of incumbent Fascist fanatics, would slowly transition towards a proper Socialist state within 10 years. This new USSR would be democratic, and overseen by EU officials who hold facultative roles in the transitioning government. 

 

The Russian Federation would become an observer in the European Union, and fall subject to the advisory councils to the European Commission and the Council of Europe; this would set a path for much closer cooperation in the future. 

 

A military pact was established between Russia and the Unified EU army, who would obtain Russia's defense systems and apply them to the borders of the EU superstate. In return, Russia would receive a multitude of EU weaponry to defend Vladivostok and the rest of the far east. Future military endeavours, would be together.

 

A variety of trade deals were agreed upon where Russian manufacturing would outsource its jobs to the EU, allowing the unemployed Europeans to work for Russian-EU industries. The EU would decrease its tarriffs on luxury goods in return of a reduced price on oil & gas. Russia would gain a strong footing in the European market, and with cheap Russian industries, the EU could entrench itself into the Russian economy and provide more jobs through it.

 

 

 

In retaliation against British aggression in Latin America, with its unjust intervention in Brasilia's internal affairs, the three established allies: The EU, The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics & The People's Republic of China have mutually decided to install a full scale embargo against the United Kingdom. 

 

The Spanish Kingdom & Italy are warned that if they continue to support the United Kingdom or the disintegration of the EU, similar embargo's would follow.

France continued to resist the federal EU's attempts to remove national sovereignty altogether, for both the French homeland and for the other non-integrated nations. Funding and campaign advice is given and increased to Euroskeptic parties in all non-integrated nations, with Italy, Spain, Greece, Poland, Hungary, Denmark and Sweden being the main targets, though others do receive some help. Targeted propaganda is produced for each nation, though all share common themes playing on the frightening censorship in the federalised states, its alliance with fascist Russia, its attempts to control the entire EU's foreign policy, and the actual threatening of sanctions on member states for not submitting. The main goal of this international campaign is to cause the non-federalised nations to at least refuse to submit to the continued German-led aggressive unification, and hopefully leave the EU altogether. [MOD PLZ] A open demand is also sent to Germany and the federalised states to cease their use of economic and diplomatic aggression in their attempts to force other states to federalise. 

 

France begins fiscal and legislative preparation for the exit of the EU. The French treasury sets aside a large fund to be injected into the economy in the event of economic crisis, and financial support for French industries. 

 

France offers a group of army officers to the UFA in order to train their own military, a sign of co-operation between the two nations.

 

Meanwhile, the new supercarrier, dubbed the Napoleon, has begun construction, and would finish in the next couple of years. In addition to graphene reinforcement, making it practically unsinkable, it also featured all the modernised technology that had been afforded to the Charles de Gaulle's refit, as well as anti-air and anti-torpedo armaments. The French had abandoned any developments of fifth-generation fighters long ago, instead directing their resources to a sixth-generation fighter, that would technologically surpass any currently fielded aircraft. Finally, French defense industries have put forth a design for such a fighter in order to defend French skies. The fighter would of course utilise a graphene composite in its structure and outer surface, which would render it not only much lighter, but also far stronger, meaning it would be capable of achieving and handling greater speeds and withstanding damage, as well as giving it greater operational range. The graphene's natural self-healing properties are once again exploited in the design. It's armaments would include a gatling rotary cannon and multiple varieties of air-to-air missile, both utilising graphene to some extent (greater heat dissipation for the former, and lighter chassis for the latter). SYRIAN ARAB REPUBLIC

 

Having negotiated a new trade deal with Portugal, and with machinery now entering the country from that nation in exchange for crude oil, Syria now offers to trade crude oil with:

Assad speaks of Kurdish-Syrian combined efforts against ISIS, and the fact that the SDF - a mostly Kurdish force - was some 40% non-Kurdish. Videos of combined SAA (Syrian Arab Army)-SDF actions are sent to the Kurdish State. They hope to negotiate on the Syrian-Kurdish border, parts of the latter haven been part of Syrian sovereign territory for decades, and long-considered a part of Syria’s historical territory long before the nation even gained independence. Therefore, Assad argues, open borders ought to be set up between Syria and Kurdistan. Syria begins building up her textile industry. With new machinery coming in monthly, she keeps costs drastically low by using buildings that became disused as a result of the war. With a raw cotton production accounting for a massive amount of Syrian exports, it is not hard to find material and it is hoped these new investments will pay off in the long-term.  [MOD]

Syria immediately puts the agricultural implements such as tractors being exchanged for oil to good use. With Syrian unemployment at around 10%, the country puts many of these people to work in agriculture, paying them poor wages. Those with the skills needed to maintain the machinery are given good wages, and soon it is hoped they will be able to make Syria autarkic in terms of food. The main products are wheat, olives and fruits, which are produced in the Mediterranean climate of the Western side of Syria.

At a conference in Damascus, Syria’s main political party’s are formed by way of popular demand. Candidates are elected by the members, with several parties prominent:

 

The Syrian Ba’ath Party (Formerly Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party)-The new, democratic version of the Ba’ath Party, led by the current president, Ali Al Assad. No longer Arab Nationalists as they were, they can now be described as Syrian Nationalists.

 

Arab Coalition-An Arab nationalist left-wing party led by former SAA general Suheil Al Hassan, a popular soldier and once the youngest Major-General of the Syrian Army. Led the elite ‘Tiger Forces.’ The party supports the new democratic model more out of pragmatism than any else.

 

Hezbollah-A Shia Islamist, anti-western party, led by Yusuf Shaheen. Advocates the implementation of Sharia Law in an Iran-style theocracy.

 

Sons of Khaleed-A Sunni Islamist Party, led by former Free Syrian Army soldier Hamza Yusuf. Advocates the implementation of Sharia Law in a way similar to Saudi Arabia or the Gulf States.

In response to Russia's actions, the Pope gives a public speech condemning the United Russian Republic for their actions. The transcript is as follows.

"My fellow Catholics, these recent months have seen drastic changes in the world around us, some for better, and some for worse. Today I stand to talk about the changes that have been made by the barbaric leader of the United Russian Republic, Iery Gerasimov. Last night, I was gifted with a vision from God Himself, and this is what he spoke to me. He told me that the actions of Iery Gerasimov and the URR are to be condemned; that they are evil, unholy, and sacrilegious; and that Satan has a place in hell designed specially for Iery Gerasimov, where he will burn for all eterntiy! We, as a Nation of Catholic peoples worldwide, must NOT sit and watch while this infectious evil is allowed to grow in Russia and spread across Europe like a foul rot! We must take a stand as one people. So I command you to rise up and speak! Do not allow this festering disease to spread further than it already has, and condemn the URR at every opportunity. The citizens of the once-proud nation of Russia especially, it is your duty to rise and condemn the actions of your leader. Remember that he will burn in hell if he does not repent soon. I pray for the citizens of Belarus and Ukraine, and for the souls of the heartless politicians who stand by and do nothing, allowing their neighbors to be oppressed by these monsters."

Sweden

 

Change and stiff opposition against it is sweeping through Sweden. Parties are at each other's throats, arguing. But in reality Sweden is a far better off place then some. Across the globe the tension is beginning to rise. It's scary, especially for a small, diplomatic people. Some argues they were too soft, and are working on that. But until then, the reality is simple. This new EU, this Federal beast, is putting the fear right into the Riksdag politicians. So far Sweden abstains from implementing any of the new creed. Sweden remains how they've always been. It seems a very European power struggle has began to rear it's ugly head. French propaganda is kicking off, inspiring some. However people remain to their own opinions, follow their parties. No reply or words of encouragement are sent to France. It seems that for now Swedish politicians would sit on the fence, ignore both sides.

 

In actuality, Sweden is very far from just idling by. With the Centre-Right Parties failure to implement a part time draft, they lose some face. The opposition is able to pick up the slack. They realize the need for a higher rate of troops, demands are rising. But instead of issuing a draft, they still to all volunteer. Searching for the motivated soilders, the ones who want to fight. These troops will be put into long training cycles, not being in a particular need anywhere. After a long boot camp, they'll be outfitted and form entirely new Swedish regiments. The low intake of troops expected will hopefully not be too costly to outfit with elite gear. Slowly, both Swedish parties are recruiting a new and motivated army.

 

Time was passing by too fast, things have been progressing rapidly. Artur Carlsson and his coterie were meant to take things slow. But as they say, the world doesn't wait for you to catch up. Already Sweden's military was being improved. Unfortunately, still desperate for manpower, they made up for it in arms. The new Bumble Bees, assault helicopters, are finished on time. Their production begins immediately, and is charted to run smoothly. For now only basic prototypes and first models are available. The Swedish cavalry is assembled, and given their new steeds. They will begin training immediately, using the first models. They practice high altitude drops, and savage and fast landings. The Bee itself is armed to fight off other aircraft, and heavily armored to sustain ground fire. In the rear a full squad of troops and one light AFV can fit. It is meant to rush elite troops and light support vehicles into tactical positions. A perfect weapon for a nation that has to avoid attrition.

 

The UK is assured that the meeting of monarchs will proceed as planned. Their trade deal is accepted, though tariffs are placed to limit how much the UK could flood their market. Sweden did not quite want to flood their markets with anything. However Sweden will not stand by and let the centralized EU browbeat other nations into following it's agenda. That betrayed the heart of the European Union. For now however, all the EU will hear is a collective sigh from the Riksdag.

 

Denmark and Norway's proposition to take things a step farther is taken to heart. Sweden proposed the three establish a confederation, to pledge to work together in all things. The reasoning is that already partially integrated, they could form a more influential political front to the world. A more powerful front, especially to an increasingly more dangerous EU.  If the Scandinavian powers stuck together, merged an already merging system, they would prosper. To balance the weight of this offer, Sweden would elect to have a smaller amount of seats in a new parliament then the other two. It would be up to the new confederative parliament to vote in their name and body. Things would be planned, after the other two nations voted yes or no. Iceland and Finland are not invited, Sweden figuring they would not join. However the offer is their, if the other Scandinavian states see the sense to joining. Each nations would keep it's own goverment and identity, just be a part of a bigger whole. It would be up to how much power they give the confederate goverment, to decide who would truly rule. In accordance with recent actions taken by the Russian state and the Swedish proposal, the United Kingdom hereby offers the following emergency motion to the United Nations, to be voted upon as soon as is possible:
