To think of: Complete Lore Wipe?

If shamanism is removed I will leave LotC and make my own server.

Its realm: The Stargush Stroh

Its players: Lesser and greater ancestrals

would be a fun twist to roleplay it from the other side, seeing shamans as the way between them and mortals, and have the mortals on the other side of the spectrum.

If shamanism is removed, I will leave.

I expressed the idea in a previous thread and the OP neglected to give me credit. I have played alongside Oren for most of the time after Aegis (I founded the Teutonic Order then). I don't think you all realize how competitive many people are and that a total wipe would give more incentive and "intrigue" into gambling and trying to form separate groups. No doubt, this will give a temporary balance of power rather than a total "shakeup" of the game - but with good staff and creative support, the balance of power can be relatively sustained. The argument of "but the time I put in!" is already used by smaller groups who tend to get swallowed up by the monolith. I'd say marching into the unknown instead of marching lock-step through the mundane would better encourage me to "put in all those hours" as a previous poster commented.

As I said, it's an idea I can get myself behind when not coming from someone who appears to simply be looking for ways to destroy Oren. It isn't even a bad idea, but there still is the argument I made in my previous reply, being: Groups will stay together and do what they did before all over. I know for a fact that the majority of the Highlander community (which I'm a part of) would just play highlanders again and start forming their old culture and families all over again. If that is the case, a reboot would be pointless and a waste of time. If there were a way to prevent this from happening without a huge loss of players, I'd be all in, but unfortunately there is no way to do prevent it.

I think it's a bad idea to wipe all of a big group's progress because a few others are suffering from it, because that's basically what this is.

But, an even bigger factor that made me disagree is that exactly the same people, will form exactly the same groups and will do exactly what they were doing before the wipe.

I do have to say, if this weren't coming from someone who just made an anti-oren post the other day I'd find it a much more appealling idea. At this point it just looks like you want to destroy Oren one way or another and you're touching into the unknown and extreme..

That's called questioning motive. His motive has nothing to do with how good or bad the idea is. That said, someone can be critical of the infallible Oren and still be honest.

I've heard for ******* months about how 'Undead are coming back!'

Can we ACTUALLY have this? In Vailor, there was a little bit on dragons and the drakaar- can we seriously reboot the undead?

Undead returned in Athera and were defeated. The Undead were also back every so often in Vailor as I engaged with them in rp combat with the Ascended at one stage, though it was a long bit of rp I'll admit they didn't really make much of an appearance throughout the rest of the map. I guess the reason they don't bring back old villains too often is because they get repetitive and eventually they bore you.

I say that this would be interesting, but it'd also maybe be terrible and too much of a risk for LotC.

A thought of mine, though, about magic on here is that I feel like it's not really "magical" anymore.  Everyone knows all about magic and a lot of people even practice it.  It also sort of just feels simple, in a way, and strict - like it needs to make sense to exist and have a purpose when magic, in my opinion, should be mysterious and perhaps whimsical at times where people might not even know its true source but they've been gifted it.

It's just a thought.  I've been thinking about it for a little while now and was considering making a post soon on it, but I've just been busy.

Agree with this. It's why I'm partial to frostie magic. No strict scientific explanation. It just is.

New characters, new factions, new people to interact with in roleplay

every faction is an ooc clique, they'll get back together before you even know it

I don't want it reset, but I think it would be cool to have a world event where if we lost, everything was reset and we started again, this would be cool for roleplay and give a good idea of who wanted the reset and who didn't, could possibly be a better alternative to resetting everything straight up as certain people could get visions to bring selected things back a few months in that was vital or like leaders might get some memory back or something. I think its a cool concept, I don't have much of a tie to it besides enjoying my characters roleplay, other then that... Event should happen to decide.

The lore of LotC can be hard to break into, and the idea of a wipe sounds appealing in some ways. The idea of everything being fresh and all players being equal is kinda neat. I have to agree with @James2k, most groups would be resistant to change and simply reform. The idea of an entirely new server is interesting as well, but wouldn't that take up resources that are better spent on improving LotC? I dunno, I'm just throwing it out there.

It made playing this server fun and I will truly miss the experiences of walking on the king's road only to just get ganked by the undead.

true

theres too many shitty regulations now a days that make everything so artificial, the undead 'events' that happened seemed organic. they didn't seem like an extension of the staff or an exclusive club when you could imagine them organizing in their nether fortress that you knew existed. things weren't set up when they randomly attacked galahar. or when you'd be walking along a road and see some hooded fucker come at you with a golden hoe. it just happened, and thats what made them great.

i agree too that magic is almost too fleshed out, theres a reason for everything and a lore piece for every solution. i like magic lore when its not understood all the way, or not fleshed out on purpose. like tolkien's.

theres just a lack of enthusiasm for the server over all,  a server wipe isn't what we need, because a lot of people are currently hanging on to the history and former glories of lotc for reason to play. removing that would be a slap in the face to the amount of effort and work people put into the server. a server wipe shouldn't be discussed when we're already in the 6th or so map.
