A Writ of Excommunication,

As Decreed by the Holy See,

15th of the Grand Harvest, 1588

High Pontiff  Theodosius II the Maximum Presbyter of the Holy Church, the Vicar of God, the Successor to the Immaculate Throne of the Exalted, the Metropolitan of Johannesburg, the High Exarch of the Canon Rite, the Servant of the Servants of God does decree...

Foreword.

To the faithful people of Holy Oren, the High Pontiff offers you the hand of condolence, his tears of sorrowful grief, and his anger toward the sacrilegious actions thus committed within our sacred walls of GOD’s Holy Empire. His Imperial Majesty’s actions have shocked the populous so much so, that the eyes of GOD within the Seventh Sky look upon us with much wrath as our Emperor blasphemes with unpardonable sin. We pray for those in Oren who continue to suffer the ill-minded effects of His Imperial Majesty Philip Frederick of the House of Horen. We pray the Emperor refuses to listen to evil counsel and that of Iblees and returns to obedience to God and of the truth faith. We pray to Julia, Perpetual Mother of Imperial Oren, that in her, he may be redeemed from apostasy and from the clutches of heretics.

Reason.

  • He has violated the respect of Julia, Perpetual Mother of Holy Oren, by showing ill-will toward a meek young woman in assaulting her with an unlawful backhand and referring to her with profanity.
  • Under his command and order he forces his guards to sin against the Holy Laws of the Canon, subjecting them to unwarranted murder. Murder that is committed to silence and repress individuals.
  • He has failed to reprimand one of his council who took the life of a churchman.
  • He had forced the High Pontiff to wed him within the Imperial Palace on unconsecrated ground.
  • He displays and acts with an utter lack of respect for the Holy Mother Church.
  •  He Claimed to be free of sin and refused confession.
  • He has disrespected the Vicar of GOD by belligerently silencing the voice of His Holiness. Shortly after the Emperor had assaulted a minor he instructed the Pontiff to hold his tongue. This occurred when the Pontiff spoke out against the act reminding him of the Jubilee year of Mercy.
  • He has stood idle as his men continue to wrongfully address the dignity of His Holiness and belittle him as an egotistical priest.

In that the Emperor has rendered no act of contrition or repentance

We do now separate him from the precious body of the Holy Canonist Church and from the society of all Canonists. We exclude him from our Holy Mother Church and all Her Sacraments in the Seven Skies and on this Earth. We declare him excommunicate and anathema.

His All Holiness Theodosius II, Maximum Presbyter of the Holy Church, Vicar of God, Successor of the Immaculate Throne of the Exalted, Metropolitan of Johannesburg, High Exarch of the Canon Rite and Servant of the Servants of GOD.

"This is done under absolutely no legal grounds for excommunication. A piteous power play by wretched clergymen," comments the ecclesiastical scholar, Charles Macdonough, upon reading the writ.

Jon would glance at the missive, a slight chuckle emitting from his mask.  "A bold move, though a clear one.  His only reasons are his vanity."  He would turn the piece of paper over to Cedrik, allowing the younger knight to read it for himself.  "The lack of specifics is quite notable.  If he had specifics to actually support such an act, he would have brought them forward, that they could strengthen his claim.  Note that his causes are that he was hushed and deemed himself insulted, along with some vague and unclear mentions of misconduct.  A vain man should never be the Vicar of God, nor should any true Canonists follow such a man."

He would nod with a sense of grim disappointment, turning back to his desk to read a new document from the House of Kovachev.
