It's too big, every nation could fit on Tahn and there'd still be a lot of empty space.

My ideal solution would be move every nation to tahn and then use ceru and asul for 6.0 and 7.0. Also cloud temple should be an rp hub, not a dead area

Absolutely not. Having an RP hub where RP is inherently restricted (you can't fight/kill/maim) is bad. You want people in cities or settlements.

Tahn is absolutely massive compared to the other ones and also where I feel like most of the RP is centralized. (And even  then it is too damn big) Everything overall could use some trimming down. I'm pretty biased towards ceru in terms of aesthetic.

My profe$$ional suggestion: Start off with a map that’s about 40% the size of Axios and then later on introduce a new island with respectable lore about how that island was found.

The map is way to big, and as already mentioned doesn't suit the current player base. We also have plenty of builds going unused, and falling inactive. I mean ruins are interesting, but not miles upon miles of them. As for events I hardly see an ET team, let alone consecutive interesting events anymore. Athera did a great job with the story line, and I feel like Axios and Vailor strayed away from that. Get back to the basics!

Too my knowledge it doesn't matter what the map is. If you put a poll like this up there is a large portion of voters who will always choose the negative option because whatever they are given they want the opposite. That isn't meant to sound bitter or spiteful but rather stating how it is. The community is largely split on most issues and either you are content and don't raise a fuss or participate in these type of forum discussions or you are discontent and do.

The map size is nice, a bit large but it gives longevity to the map so long as staff work together to create storylines that don't destroy the map we should be good for a long while. I do believe development of future maps is something that should occur HOWEVER if you are pulling resources that could be going to this map I say tone it down. You don't necessarily need a giant event line to tie into the map but a big event line in general could serve to be a good binding agent for the community. Give them "The North" expansion or something equivalent again. There is so much map that just block off a few tiles, make them fantastic, and open them as a stand-alone event region/storyline. Rinse and repeat.

My thoughts on the map thus far:

  • Fast travels are terribly set up in comparison to Vailor.
  • Biomes are really bad in regards to how it all transitions. I.E, massive mesa biome into grasslands.
  • All the islands should be on one map instead of various ones connected by boats.
  • Map size is fairly good but just the way it's all put together means that everything is awkwardly spaced.
  • Regions should've never changed from pure worldguard with RP borders w/ nation leader control.

I don't think that developing the map for more time wouldn't have helped, honestly. Anthos was a good example of what we should have again.

This is the worst map we've ever had.

I don't believe that the polls will accurately relay my distaste for the map so I will answer the questions in this post.

1. What is your favourite Isle of Axios?

There is only one island where there are actually players.  However the Map is massive and it's just badly worldpainted in general.  I think the Sutica one is worldpainted decently though I've been there once.

2. Do you feel we have too many settlements?

Yes but there is nothing you can do to fix this. The amount of active settlements is fine however there are a lot inactive settlements. Players will always want to go out and build there own settlements.  They will always find a way.  It would be nice if the ET turned these unused settlements into ruins after some amount of time.

3. How do you feel about the map's size?

Whoever thought making 3 massive maps is an idiot.  The fact that there was no fast-travel from roleplay hubs before a month ago or something shows that the map was not thought out by someone with an IQ above 75.

4. Do you feel the Lore created for the map was sufficient for release?

Do you mean the ooga booga we wuz shamanz lore?  I don't think the lore developed by the lore team has much impact on the server as a whole to be honest.  Most people just ignore it don't know about it.  All I know is there was a Axios storyline when I logged in and I thought it was dumb.

5. Do you believe an additional few months of development would have greatly improved the map?

No the map is an inherently flawed and bad map.  Trying to sculpt **** doesn't change the fact that it's ****.

6. Do you feel that the creation of the map was too rushed?

I believe that the team designing the map was out of touch with the playerbase and they focused on the wrong things.  They wanted a map where you can admire the exotic and cool biomes but they didn't realize that most players sit at roleplay hubs and type.

7. Would you like to see more Events directly related to the story line and Lore of the map?

If we are still on Episode 1 of the Axios storyline then it shows how useless the Event Team is and it reinforces my opinion that the Event Team should be turned into a Nature Team that improves areas and makes unused settlements into ruins.  Most people are on the ET for the pex might as well keep the builders which are useful.  You don't need a team to promote roleplay and it just hasn't worked in my opinion.

8. Do you like the tile system?

No it just makes it easier to split up roleplay.  If I manage to see a Charter I sign it to show how useless the charter system is.  Just split land between nation leaders and give them a restriction on the amounts of settlements and make it so that if the settlement goes inactive the settlement is destroyed or turned into ruins.

I voted for Asul and my vote registered to Tahn, which is in my opinion the ugliest, wtf

It's too big, Athera was small to a point you could find rp pretty much everywhere, whilst in Vailor you had fast travels (whilst they did make is stale and led to over crowded non rp hubs) to make up for its large size. If the map was smaller then I feel rp would be more available.

Personal rant time.

Honestly, I just don't see the point of why this universe exists. 99.99% of fantasy universes pictures the heroes of the realm fighting against some greater evil force. This is the main driving force of the universe and the reason for players playing. I realise this is not the point of LOTC only, we also want politics, cities, RP other than war and so on, and I really like all that stuff.

My main issue is LOTC has taken my real life existential crisis and also placed it within the LOTC. Why do I play my character? What is the point? There is no reason for me to play? There are no clear-cut conflicts in the world?

LOTC and more specifically Axios needs some core lore and some awesome antagonist. Anyone. This gives massive chances for the event team to do awesome lore events.

Also, the map is too big. I personally tried to advocate "Terrain anomalies" but even with this, the map seems bleak and boring.

'map too big, don't want fast travels cause i want road rp!!!' - bunch of people on vailor

'lets make 3 really big maps and remove fast travels' - gms

axios is absolute ****

EDIT: tile system pmuch just ended up not mattering in the long run, it just made more hoops to jump through. mostly because of the population bullshit and how oren was 'going to lose tiles if it didn't get more players,' but that never happened
idrc but gms really fucked up everything on this map

Three maps was terrible to begin with. should only be tahn or the two smaller ones.

If youse going to develop a new map please be more in depth with it. I tried to get input on tahn when I made it and I got almost no feedback until it was released.

Would just prefer if instead of going to a new map, we would just sail back to an island we have already been to like Asulon and Anthos.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This. Anthos, like somebody said, would realistically have drained itself some time ago. I think it'd be interesting to go back and sort of see giant ruins of our past. If we want to avoid literally copy/pasting Anthos, we use the flood as a reason to sort of re-shape the map in a way that makes it feel slightly different.

this is honestly a great idea, it would be nostalgic for old players and unique enough for newer/whatever players who weren't there to have a good experience, but i honestly don't believe the staff team would put in any amount of effort to do it

While I agree, I wanted to add how appreciable it is that this poll was given nevertheless. Many (not all) of the player base seems to complain often that the staff/admins don't input their opinions. This is valid proof of their effort to show they're listening to the rest of the community.
