EDIT: We have an idea that might fix the lag entirely. We will set up a 'for fun' warclaim with free gear this week.

 

 

There will be no warclaim tomorrow should it resemble today's. The server can't handle them this large. If you want to do multiple small ones, or one small one, feel free and coordinate with the war team.

 

We know a lot went wrong. Some of it was due oversight on the War Team and Dev Team's part, and a lot was out of our control. PVP should have been disabled at the spawn, but it was not and a hacker kill aura'd at the spawns. We didn't have kill logging on in that world, so we don't know who it was. This was about 30 minutes of delay. Nexus didn't load due to us disabling a dependency by mistake. This causes vanilla items to be crafted, and we coded a quick fix to detect the items. This was about 30 minutes of delay.

 

Now, onto lag. We disabled a lot of plugins that are "quality of life" befor the war claim. It appears that they did help with performance, though the sheer amount of numbers caused lag nonetheless. We also had to increase the player cap. Our server 'tick' was perfect at the warclaim, which is the first in a long time and the main cause of lag during past warclaims, so we're glad we could resolve that. This caused no delay, however the lag came in a different form - connection lag. The server's network was overloaded. This causes commands to not run, people to not be able to move, connect, etc. We disabled Roleplay to attempt to resolve this, and after everyone got more spread out the lag cleared up. This causes about 30-45 minutes of delay.

 

We are sorry about all of this. Some of the delay was due to error, while some was out of our control. The dev team will be meeting tomorrow to get a separate war server set up, and it will be used for the warclaim next weekend should there be one. We are working very hard to make warclaims great again, and will give you guys an update when we have the war server properly set up.

There's no way to become invincible in Minecraft without dying and going immobile first though, so how come the hacker took 0 damage?

Can we just tell roleplayer not to log on until it's over? They can wait an hour or two for an entire week of rp.

If I am able to ask, as death logging was disabled does that mean if someone used a sword of thorns you wouldn't of been able to detect it?

Please, just give us another warzone, and make the results actually important. A warzone between Metz and Ostwick would be great.

From what folks were saying, without hurling names and etc, the war staff has been proposing ideas for working the war system into smaller battles to deter some of this mess. Supposedly the ideas are being blocked by the administrative staff without extensive reason or explanation. Is any of that true or are people just making this up?

So, there was a person running Kill Aura in both of the spawns of the warclaim and this wasn't an error in placement by any of the overseeing administration?

Erm... I can't see where you have addressed why tons of people died when they tried to use portal signs to the warzone and why there was no rollback or backups before the warclaims as I believe there was a restart shortly before which should make backups.

A warzone would be **** and isn't relevant to the thread at all. Warzone is pointless without a warclaim.

Its funner PvP though, because theres less lag

The only time it stopped lagging. All i'm saying is War would be completely different if you didn't have to catch people teleporting everywhere unless they just get glitched into a block from all the lag their receiving.
