There's no way to become invincible in Minecraft besides dying though, so how come the hacker took 0 damage?

We don't know if they did. After I died and went to the Cloud Temple, I actually died again, and we were all taking damage still. So, he may have been killed, there may have been more than one, or the whole thing where too many entities can't be on top of each other might have been doing it, who knows.

Honestly, i've seen warclaims with more people be lagless outside of 20,000 snowballs being thrown at the battle of the crossroads and the battle of the Dreadfort. Hell even the battle of Mount Augustus with all that was going on lagged very little. It was only after the implementation of Nexus that battles went to ****. Just let us go back to Iron on Iron. No nexus buffs or anything. PvPing in a slideshow isn't all that exciting.

I completely agree with this, that is something that contributes largely to the lag. During a push, people charge forward against the opposing mass and collide with one another creating even more lag than there originally is just rallying enough people for the war (In this case, the larger numbers than usual). Also because of this reason, the lag completely drowns out any use for archery or cavalry which is pretty much 50% off the battle, you have melee and you have ranged. So with the excruciating amount of lag that is gathered up when a player is near one another causes crashes and a simple charge for PVP without allowing any realistic strategy into wars.

I first noticed this at the Snelf Siege when arrows worked in the beginning of the battle, until people started to slowly break into the fort and all the soldiers started piling on one another.

Yes, forgot to mention that we forgot to disable the entity cramming. That will be fixed as well.

REMOVE NEXUS

So what are the specific changes you'll be making besides the addition of a war server and the disabling of a few plugins?

Will the war server run in place of LOTC for the time being? Is that possible? No RP plugins obviously?

Why not go ahead and make vanilla iron weapons for everyone while we're at it?

An easy fix would be setting up another server for warclaims / skirmishes. Then connect it via a hub similar to how Hypixel and co do it.

oh boy i wish i just said that

via a case study conducted by me it has been scientifically proven that the removal of hit timers will increase the server's health by up to 300%
