Space 2335 Share Posted February 2, 2017 Even though it 100% won't matter, I sorta had this weird thought today where I'm a voting adult. And that made me care a bit more about my own countries politics. So, if you're a Canadian, taking a minute to sign this petition would be cool, so maybe the Liberals will see that Canadians do care about electoral reform. Context: A promise of the liberal party was electoral reform, i.e. something to first past the post, which sucks ****. They've slowly backed out of this, then recently just said it's off the agenda. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/trudeau-abandons-pledge-to-change-voting-system-before-2019-election/article33855925/ long live the queen
Narthok 10416 Share Posted February 3, 2017 I am genuinely happy they didn't go through electoral reform. 1. he doesn't have the support of the majority of the country for the motion, 2. FPP is not a terrible system and is good for maintaining a stable government in a federation containing a variety of vastly different views and populations. mmat 7460 Share Posted February 3, 2017 We have the same flawed system but reform was shut down here with attack ads because the status quo benefit from it. Long live the queen.

Kaelan 1918 Share Posted February 3, 2017 A political party running on a platform of promises and then backing out of said promises?!?!?!?!! Oh my word, this is unheard of! Yeah, all governments in Canada, both provincially and federally suck. I mean, you get the NDP here in Manitoba a little while ago. They said they wouldn't increase our taxes, and then they go and unlawfully raise our sales tax as they steal from ManitobaHydro and put the money into general revenue to balance their crappy budgets because they invest so much in social programs. And then the Feds lying. Why would they change something they won with? I mean, if it's not broken from their point of view because they got into power, you don't need to fix it.
