A child was murdered in Karlsburg

Addressed to the people of Haense and to the Maer of Karlsburg:

 

THE CRIME OCCURRED IN KARLSBURG

 

It is with anger that I pen these words, I have to say that I couldn't imagine your men comitting such a terrible crime, even though I have always known that the Kingdom of Haense was a corrupted and imperialist kingdom.

 

I couldn't believe it when my distant cousin Marcus Meren told me that after hard days of research he then understood everything. I couldn't believe it simply because I thought your people had at least some honor. Unfortunately I was wrong.

 

Let everyone know that during the 13th of The Grand Harvest of 1602 an innocent and sweet child was brutally murdered by Haensetic Guards. His name was Charles Meren, a sweet 5-year-old kid who had always been kind to everyone and very clever for his age. He was the son of my distant cousin, Marcus Meren, a carpenter who until today was happily living in a small house near the Westerlands with his two kids: Charles and Sergius. Fortunately, I have recently been able to put them under my protection and they are now safe living in Courlandic lands.

 

Apparently, as his father Marcus and some witnesses have confirmed, the now murdered Charles was at the city of Karlsburg with his father Marcus when this tragedy occurred. They went together to Karlsburg to observe the greatness of the city and to trade. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on their side. His father Marcus went a moment to the tavern and told the child to buy some enchanted books at the Karlsburg's shops. So he gave him a pouch full of coins and the child started walking around the main square of the city looking for enchanted books to buy.

 

I have no more witnesses to confirm what happened next, just a person who observed a haensetic knight beating a child. Somehow the child was then found dead after a while.

 

This is a terrible, awful and monstrous crime against humanity and the basic values of life. Especially because House Meren, which is a different house than mine (House Merentel) was indeed a neutral house and not affiliated to Courland and had good relations with Haense and the Westerlands.  I hope you all pay for it one day.

 

Probably the killer won't be punished for it but at least the whole world will know about this crime.
