Using a ravine would be interesting for a town, and it would look pretty cool as well with bridges going across the raving to new parts of the town for trade and maybe an inn for safekeeping. That could be connected to the deep road and have an entrance all the way at the end of the ravine. The only problem would be finding a large enough ravine to do this in.

I like this! We could make the town in the Ravine the Trade Town. In all of my private maps, Ravines are never really hard to find, But probably near a big rock formation for the capital will be tougher. If pushed we can always ask for the ravine to be created right?

(Also yeah Forest dwarfs wtf, What about Ice dwarfs?!

*is a Frostbeard-member, intentions are obvious*)

this all sounds good except that i'm pretty sure it'll be easy to get lost in it, so make sure to have alot of signs telling you were to go :D

We could build a vertical town into the walls of a ravine.

((I couldn't find any good pictures. We will need a very big ravine for something like this, though, closer to a canyon))

Yeah thats what I had in mind, with buildngs layering all across the ravine, and pathways stretching out it.

((I just tried building a small village in a ravine. Waterfalls are really annoying, and ravines are too small for even small buildings, unless they're all built into the walls, instead of against the walls, like I imagined. We'll definitely need something bigger. Most ravines are partially underground, which would be really cool.))

The buildings should be partially in the wall, but more or less in the wall entirely, theres no room for buildings sticking out randomly, only thing that should really be visible are lights and walkways. It could even be a mining colony.

I really wish to get close to this picture(below), If forced we'll just make the ravine broader.

Also Bridge-homes.

Lets say somewhere in the middle of the cliff will be a 20-30 block wide bridge spanning across the ravine it is also a bit high and ofcourse hollow, perfect for a home or four and will also create a large plane for people to; walk over/meet/trade/etcetera.

The raviene idea reminds me of orcs :/ I really wish to build into a huge mountain that inside will be a ravine where a single bridge would cross it so if we loose our outter gates we can destroy the bridge and people would have to try and cross the lava river below. There will be another massive wall built and behind it built into the walls will be our capital. With the King's Forrt at the top and have sorta a ring like idea where the market (with limited shops) will be at the bottom and the next ring would be lower income the middle then high the Clan/Guild/Noble Houses. Kings HOuse at the top. Slums to the left bottom near the mine (which would be very rich in ores) and to the right would lead to the deep roads that we can expand as needed for new colonies.

I 'ave a name for the capital which is Azeroth.

I'm pretty sure were keeping the name Kal'Urguan

Also, that picture was basically what I was thinking of as well.

I like your idea as well Hiebe, that way you can have emergency gates separating each specific ring for better defense. You could always do your idea for the capital, and then make a separate mining colony/trade town with the ravine idea anyway.
