I am pleased to announce that the Lore Team's first month-long project has come to a close and is now being released to the public eye.

For the end of April and all of May, the Lore Team's various members have each been individually constructing pieces of World Lore designed to broaden our server's horizons; For all of our time playing on Lord of the Craft, all of what we've done and roleplayed has occurred within the boundaries of the continents we've visited. That isn't to change, but a few years back something called Aeldin caught on to players' interests, and with the draws and benefits of such a place in mind, I set our team on a task to create more places like Aeldin: Distant lands as travelled and settled as the ones we've been to, rich in cultures, histories and diverse peoples. Aeldin offers something unique to the playerbase, and that's freedom and a sense of something larger which was our priority with this project. Over the course of the day and the coming week we'll be posting our finished projects for your reading pleasure, and will be formally opening lore like this to public submission-- if you've had an idea for a distant land or continent but felt you've never had the opportunity nor scope to post it, now is your time to submit.

I'll be updating this post as more pieces are submitted and added to the list below:

Wayfinding: The Nautical Art of Navigation

Skjoldier: Home of the Fjarriauga

The Meranesian Islands: Islanders!

Magara'lin: Dark Elf Origin Civilization

Vectra, the Scaled Forest: Turok with Elves

The Shogunate of Oyashima: Easterner Lore

The Godless Lodge of Yulthar: Also Easterners

Another announcement: The Lore Team's next project for June is going to be finalizing and ironing out the kinks and gaps in our Aengudaemonic Pantheon, so if you've been sitting on some according lore, now is the time to submit! I'll see you all on July 1st when we release Update 1.2.

Is this the time to tell the REAL story of the halfling people and the great nations of ancient halflings in distant lands?

This is lovely! Anything that enriches lore is marvelous in my book.

I love the lore, but I have a nagging feeling. Don't the LT think somethings don't need specific lore? Maybe a little mystery for the players, a bit of vagueness, is good?

I mean, sure. But in this situation, where lands are being built that players can make their characters come from, specifics are very good. It allows for RP to happen and people to connect. Everyone making their character come from some nondescript place with some nondescript backstory is fine, but if you have two people that come from the same, defined place and they both take parts of that into their history, that's super interesting and they can connect over it. It gives weight and life to the world we're trying to create.

Sure, creation myths, gods, origins, and mechanics of magic. Basic geography and history? Maybe not so.
