DELUSIONS OF THE DEMOCRATIC FALLACY

An essay of Urguanite democracy

Since implementation, democracy has spoilt the efficiencies of our political instrument. First, a council of Lords that was filled by gutless career politicians, serving an enterprise of their own advancement and not that of the greater benefit of the dwarven nation. Foremost, productivity was stalled by the rife contrast of selfish desire - how could policies be implemented and due action followed with legislation binded in the hands of five dwedmar that sought to preserve the order of hierarchy?

It could not be implemented. We endured stagnation through this false democracy, so that even through a minimalist consensus such as this, any angle of democracy allowed our nation to fail in its ability to drive forward. Such was the vulnerability of a system situated in the middle of either side of the political spectrum. As the years passed more power was brought to the dwed of Urguan, the devolution of power from government to Clans brought about Clan Councils and Senates.

In these newer times, even more process was brought about in order for a King to take initiative in the workings of his Kingdom. Every dwed had a say in governing Urguan, a vote and veto in the Kingdom’s decisions - a large step backwards from the interests of growth, and rather into the clutches of futility - where a King was reliant on the agreement of a Senate. On paper, the Senate was a just intention, that wished only for equality and fairness, a means of hearing the voice of everyone.

Emotionally agreeable, but for various reasons the Senate fails in practice. I will elaborate. In order to achieve a Senatorial seat, there have been various parameters that have practically been in constant change. The criterion of which have essentially altered with each new King, and after every election a Clan would have to adapt to the new rulers ideas. What constituted a senatorial seat was anything but permanent, which often allowed for confusion in who held legislative power through the seats awarded to their Clan.

Eventually, this led to negligence, and a Senate which had no awareness of its powers allowed a King to alter the articles into an autocracy. The Senate, in the believe it had some inkling of power, continued to exist in a system where it did not belong and should not have continued. Seats were an illusion in which Clan’s worked for executive power that wasn’t real, and in fact they were being awarded with seats that worked to advise. The biggest Clans could not influence a King if he didn’t want to hear it, which is not wrong in my eyes, but it allowed two opposite systems of government to clash and fail. In Elections - where the Senate did have legislative power, there was not enough consistency to allow the Frostbeards, with 15 times the number of the Starbreakers, to have any more votes in the Grand King Elections.

The idea of democracy has bred entitlement in our youth - all expect a say and believe they deserve a voice in the Kingdom simply for being a dwarf. This lethargism is a massive contributor to stagnation and unproductivity In Urguan, as many do not work for what they earn. The sad truth is that their sense of entitlement is for nothing, it is for fake power in a fake senate. If we want to see a Kingdom that boasts a strong force and economy we need strong rewards and strict goals that can only be realised by a strong leader with clear ideas.

The long and flawed democratic process has allowed incompetency to plague the workings of dwarven government, and allowed inexperience to spoil our foreign reputation. Governing should be left to those who know how to do so, a King who should not have to answer to the tribulations of a Senate, advisory or otherwise - with the resources to award Clans that work for their status.

Feudalistic society has proved its success, through the Imperium, but also through our own most successful conglomerates. First, the Empire of Urguan, led by Kjell Ireheart. Urguan held dominion over the Kingdom of Alras, Kingdom of Aroch'Nor, Kingdom of Holm, and segments of the Kingdom of Salvus. Kjell’s uncompromising politics and dictator-like ruling allowed us to become one of the strongest administrations in modern history.

Similarly, the uncompromising leadership of Thorin Grandaxe pays tribute to the success of autocratic ruling. The Second Grand Kingdom became a ruling superpower over the other descendant races, often regarded to be one of the most successful regimes in modern history. It is comparable to the reformed Orenian Imperium, Urguan held dominion over the human kingdoms and elven states. The truth is in history - democracy has seen us through our poorest depressions, and autocracy through our greatest triumphs. Morality has long dominated our politics, causing our policies to be consistently flawed by emotional clauses.

It does not take a scholar or a King to read the clarity of the suggestions. It is time the values of democracy stop blinding those who should see the benefits of a new and reformed society, rather than forcing them to clutch onto the values sewn into them by their government that have proven failure throughout history.
