A Shadow Recedes

What was left of the beacon of hope and humanity since its fall?
Ruins, silence, foulness. Wood and trees were burned in the great fire, stone crumbled, constructions collapsed. Truly, Bastion was no home of life anymore. A shadow of its former self.
On the evening of the 6th of The Great Harvest 1615, it all changed. There were movements in it.
The rotten corpses, minions of Mordring, summoned by his loyal Necromancers, marched out. The foul trolls, wicked Liches, silent Darkstalkers and crude Dreadknights, all moved towards the gate, summoned by their master, the lord of the Abyss, Mordring himself.
In a silent, final march the troops of the Abyss, marched in their slow pace gen South.
To Barad-Khor, to be exact. The massive icy fortress which was constructed to protect the portal to the Abyss. With its impenetrable walls, constructed out crude abyss steel, it was constructed by Mordring himself.

The massive red and black gates opened for the forces which strucked down and conquered the Westerlands, while the troops silently marched inside facing the portal a final time, before one by one stepped inside before getting shred into pieces and getting sucked into the depth of the abyss. One by one vanished from the surface of the current realm, devoured by the Abyss until no corpse was left.

The Westerlands are free. Empty. A ruin.

And as the sun faded and the long shadow of the portal reached out over the walls of Barad-Khor, a crumbling noise emitted from within the portal. The ice broke off the walls, the ground started to shake. Slowly and steady, a massive hand, constructed entirely out of bones, reached out off the abyss into our current realm, to rip and demolish the portal itself.
And as the key stone broke off, the hand pulled back, just before the shimmering surface of the portal vanished and the entire construction and only connection to the Abyss itself collapsed.

Mordring was gone. The Abyss was gone. The West was free. One last horn echoed.

OOC:

The Abyss will be removed so the spawn area for the spook players will be moved.

"What... What the ****?" Nazorean said, confused, not seeming to have been following anything recent. "Why would they do this at all? I thought they were winning; scaring us all. There must be something I am missing here..."

A human knight named Willhelm silently slipped out of the nearby woods, his purple cape clasped in his hands to avoid it billowing as he quickly but cautiously made his way toward the ruins!

"Probably got bored after killing several thousand people." remarks Quinn.

Ganved tilts his head ever-so-slightly, his visage washing over with pure confusion. "Wha-" he pauses, unable to muster anymore words through his pale lips.

Steven waved to Mordring as he left.

Torug the Dreadknight simply tilted his helm as this all happened, utterly confused. He mumbled under his helm before setting his claymore upon his shoulder before marching back off towards his Master, not caring anymore for Mordring or what occurred.

Coltaine sways his feet as he sits on the top of an icy spar near the portal, watching the armies of the dead march in but not joining in, no he still had work to do in this world, him and the dreadknights.

The Orc Zlash'Lur continues praying to the Spirits asking for guidance when word is received about the Undead withdrawing from the Westerlands "They win a quick wagh against one of da most active human natiuns and simply wiffdraw? The Nubdead am trying to get out of dodge for sumthin."

"Bastion? Ye mean the previous Grand King of Urguan, eh? He ain't got the undead bed bugs no more, aye? He's dead? Oh! Ye be meaning of the other Bastion! I haven't heard that name in years.."

The Captain paused, taking a swig of his precious grog; the drink dripping down his face as he sat upon the pavement of Mardon; a coconut keeping him company. "Wonder if the sheets were ever made, Monarch's Suite was the best place in the entire palace." A deep seeded frown came to rest on Thomas' face then, nostalgic.

"Yo ho, yo ho... A pirate's life for me." He turned then, making way out of Mardon: It'd be a long walk to the Westerlands, for one last look... And maybe even a loot.

"What a pointless endeavour." Ser Joseph's hollow helm rotates in disapproval as Mordring's legions depart. The Dreadknight would march after Coltaine and Torug, grumbling to himself: "So much life... So much activity, killed off without reason."
