“At one point in the history of our Empire’s various incarnations, ‘Sers’ were looked upon by commoners, men at arms and nobility alike as not only competent warriors, but exemplars of imperial virtue and good. Through neglect of the title’s importance it has become something that now means next to nothing, distributed like coppers in the slums of Adelberg. This will not continue. This edict is an attempt to redeem any meaning of the position of Knight, and is of interest to each knight willing to work tirelessly for the honour.”

  • The title of Ser is henceforth stripped from all Knights of the realm, to be earned again as the reform dictates. The titles of Holy Ser are dictated in the seperate ‘The Pontifical Expulsion of Unworthy Holy Knights’ document. Any knight to continue use of the title after this point will be punished accordingly.

    •

  • No man will be permitted to grant the title of Ser except for the current reigning emperor of the Holy Oren Empire and the current Grand Knight.

    • The Meyster Knight of the Order of the Golden Gryphon and the Commondant of the Church Knights possess responsibility for managing the knightly affairs of their realms, though candidates for knighthood must be approved by the Grand Knight of the Empire or the Emperor himself. Any other regional knightly order seeking to use the title of Ser is also beneath the ultimate authority of the Grand Knight and the Emperor and may not appoint their own knights.

  • Knights are expected to be able to command men at arms competently when called upon in their home district or in the empire as a whole, and are expected to provide assistance to any military or guard forces if they are able to. Any knight to shirk his duty without good reason will be summarily stripped of his position.

  • Dishonourable, dishonest, wantonly murderous, pernicious and lethargic knights have run rampant throughout the Empire and its various predecessors. After this point, disregarding the chivalric code and shirking of responsibility will result in immediate fugitive status, punishable by death upon a guilty verdict. ((The character will be permakilled, according to OOC oath upon knighthood))

  • Knights may be landed upon their ascension to the position, but it is no longer a necessary prerequisite for knighthood. Whether or not this is given is the responsibility of the Grand Knight or the Emperor to discuss beforehand.

"Draken as Grand Knight... Where have I heard of that novel idea before?" mused Philip Frederick with a bemused smile upon his face.

"Abou'time!" a Daelish fellow would shout out, cheering on the new edict.

"Da, I lost my Knighthood in this reconstruction, but due to the reconstruction itself I find myself quite impressed with those who formed it. Ave Oren."

Wilfred salutes.

"And why should those who slaved away to earn their knighthood be punished to the same degree as those who were merely born into the title?" Pipes up a disgruntled Ser.

"Knighthood is not hereditary. A knight ought to know that. Ironically you prove my action necessary indeed."

The grand knight replies to the former Ser, drinking a cup of water.

"The 'grand knight' should invest himself into some literature to find out what a figure of speech is. In simple terms, why should a knight who worked under a king for nearly a full year of his life to be given his knighthood face the same punishment as a man who spitshined John V's balls for his? In my five years of being a knight not once have I heard of you, seen you, or spoken to you. Ironically, you try to bring yourself as an all powerful leader though you've not done one thing to better the knights of Oren, but rather strip all Sers of their titles?"

"I've been fighting in the name of the Empire sense the Greyspine rebellion, which brought Courland to a knee. I've spent my half life trying to earn my knighthood. Now after many years of loyal service, the Imperials repay me by taking it away." The former Ser Petyor States.

"Alternatively, if you've genuinely accomplished this and that beneath the Crown, then surely, you can appeal your case to the Grand Knight and I, and you've **** all to worry about!" Peter Sigismund exclaims.

Vaelin Al Sorna would grin at the actions taken in Oren for the removement of knighthoods of many incompetent people "A truly changed Oren, it seems the current Emperor, and the people under him are truly taking a change, hopefully for the better."

A stark contrast to many of the other knights, Ser Maxwell raises his head from reading the act, going to the balcony of his keep (which wasn't siezed  by this act, you still have your land!) and looking out towards the fields and forests of the crownlands. "I won this knighthood with my service before. I shall earn it back again. Any true knight should. There were far too many knights and that's coming from one personally." He says, before adding to his statement "Also His Imperial Majesty seems to like me, I should be alright." He says with a chuckle, heading back inside.

A sweaty, tanned farmer, named Matthew of York works the fields close to the fief looks up at Maxwell 'the Mediocre' and spits tobacco to the side in anger, deeming him unworthy of the title, as well as all the knights that just got humiliated publicly by the Imperial Act.

"The Crown didn't, your leadership did." Philip Frederick states before continuing. "And thank God himself that you were removed, not entirely noble to be calling others dirty pigs."
