Nexus professions are bad, I don't like bad.

I say we tie the bad and then throw it in a well from which it can never crawl out of again. No professions, no Nexus, no grinding. When will we learn? :(

No. It's bad enough that it's only 90% roleplay, it should be 100%! It's a roleplay server, and you can still RP making exotic dishes or new alchemic recipes, you just don't have to grind all day to make it! Keep nexus and PvP as far as little as possible, and make RP the 99% thing on the server.

All of these things still exist, but in a way that you actually need RP credibility to perform. You actually need to know how to RP it. To enchant, you actually need to be a mage and know how to do so. To do alchemy, you need to actually know what you're talking about and not just throw mechanical plants into a brewing stand.

I was vehemently against the removal of nexus but the fact that it has now lead to an economy that's dominated by custom-made RP items is something that pleases me greatly, and the fact that skilled professions like alchemy, enchanting, blacksmithing and the like require actual RP to have credibility is amazing and something that was extremely rare back then.

Agreed! Mainly on the way rp items are the way of actual making economy know of late run.  I myself actual been working become a mage just to do and sell enchanted items really irp. Be it enchanted weapons of simple enchanted trinkets even. That's what I'm working towards right know. Which needs rp and that's what this server meant to be about even! And I've enjoyed the moments I got see you selling items and could buy things off of you. You sold lore items i did not honestly get how you'd go about usual going for at times even. So, yes agreed economy run by mainly selling and buying rp items and it's best thing if late

((Did this all on my phone so it's worst then usual sorry))

Dark_elf01 do you know how many people are doing this now?.With nothing else to do the server will end up like a hogwarts harry potter school rp server.Seriously i ve seen 100 mages and one blacksmith rping.I have seen 0 farmers and 100 clerics.0 chefs , woodcuters ,  miners and 100000 druids.Am i wrong? Some cities have communal farms for everyone.Which doesnt make sence rply. Where are the nice farming houses on the countryside? The mines owned by companies or nations?

Maybe lotc is not suited for you.Maybe you like centered roleplay like school , house or city roleplay. Lotc has nations  , communities and groups. All giving life to the land .By your suggestion warclaims shouldnt be even a thing.Or even we should all live peacefully with no war.But what happens to history then?Did a powerfull mage cast a friendship spell upon all?Oh we friends noe , undead , clerics , humans , orcs and elves alike. Or maybe we should warclaim with rp.Waiting for 200 or more players to emote. Not everything can be rped. But what is roleplay?Playing a character , a role. What demands the balance between the rp and mechanic , is the recipe of lotc going for an alive world. Not a staged centered rp server.

I had to deal with Nexus professions and crafting for over a year, it was not enjoyable. While such things may be fun for the first time, what about the second time? The eighth time? The hundredth time? Nexus turned it all into a slog, and people were always doing things in the OOC and not in RP. It wasn’t very nice, and I would not want to go through the whole Nexus experience again.

What about when u pk a character that was a mage? Then after sometime you decide to go with another one. Dont you start a similar process?First , second or third?Even when you start a new character you have to learn everything again or most of the things. Also still things happen ooc.Just the other day someone was asking if anyone sells aurum blades.Balance is the key.

So because things have to be relearned in order to get a new mage character, it’s ok to make people do a repetitive task over and over again to get gear or other items? Relearning how to do magic on a character can be fun RP, whereas having to do x y and z in order to get K amount of F items isn’t that fun.

I fail to see your point here

I only see a few mages honestly. A few in haense and mainly in dominion. While druids yes there a crazed amount of them as with the clerics usual too. But, I actually do a lot of farming and of the sort, I'm even going start selling wheat. Don't make much profit but still, something to do while chef and of the sort there I'll agree we've lost most if not all rpers of that aspected of late but at best another food plugen would help with it xD

I have no problem with combat, I just believe that mechanical combat should be MUCH less prominent, and RP combat should be the default way of fighting. Playing a role such as a farmer or blacksmith or chef can be rp'd very easily with only a few tidbits of mechanical content included. Though, I see your point.

You're missing the point here. People play on LOTC to roleplay in an enviroment that changes and twists as time goes on (Not to mechanic-play in an enviroment that changes), every character's actions mean something, and all the progress in a roleplay isn't over once it ends. We do this in a well fleshed out world with a lot of other players, most of whom we will not every get to know well and RP with. This means that there's always something going that you don't know about, there's always something behind the corner. It's that sense of mystery, that sense of a grander world, that is what makes LOTC the place it is. We do not play LOTC for whatever different mechanics it has from vanilla, there are other servers that do that, and many many many mods that could do a way better job at that. We play LOTC for the roleplaying, and mechanics and roleplay are mutually exclusive. When something is done entirely in mechanics, it is not roleplaying. When something is done entirely in roleplay, it is not mechanics. By adding more and more mechanics, we would basically be making LOTC less and less of a roleplaying server and more and more of a survival/pvp factions server. I'm sorry, but I just don't agree with you on this.
