To the Canonist Church- A Most Humble Criticism by a former canonist, Rodrigo

 

“And thus marshalled, the forces of the Denier attacked the brothers and the pure of the tribes, and a great war ensued, and all suffered.” Godfrey 2:14

 

Oh how long will it be that the clergy of the day will shout their graces when in truth they fell from it long ago? Oh my brothers and sisters, how may it be that a faith that believes itself to be the purveyor of goodness and light should resort to the worst of the human existence to spread their message?

 

Indeed my fellows, I once was a canonist, true to the scripture, but also to my belief of the Ministry of God, in all forms. As my father and grandfather taught me the ways of the world, so to did the faith teach me the ways of the world beyond, and how to reach there through my actions in this life.

 

And it is by this knowledge I feel that I must pose this most humble criticism of the church as it stands, for though it states

“I believe with perfect faith that the Holy Scrolls can not be corrupted” Principles of Faith 1:11

I certainly believe that the Church can, and has, been corrupted.

I have left the faith, not because I disagree with the teachings; rather, I have left because the teachings have bade me to do so…

 

So herein I will place my criticisms of the current actions of the faith, using a number of their own forsaken teachings... Let us Begin..

 

You do not, you cannot, truly change hearts and minds through threats of the body ( forceful conversion). How can we expect to convert those who are astray through our teachings of peace and justice when we use such unholy means to force them to capitulate?

And what happens if they do convert? Their hearts will be filled with resentment, and in the shadows they will resist the true path. Then they will stray further away from righteousness through our doing.If these people fail to convert, or aren’t convinced, then they are put to the sword. As so stated,

“Thus, individual pagans and heretics can unknowingly adhere to his tenets and be virtuous,” Dogma 1:4

In our very Dogma, there are men that may be heretics and yet virtuous. Why must we subject good men to punishment when we have failed in our duty to convince them of the truth?

 

Why are we, the common people, sent to commit such crimes? Let the priest and the nobles do these evil deeds themselves. Why are we forsaking our place in the next world on the orders of other men in defiance of GOD’s teachings;  where is the justice in that?

If we believe that the creator will judge all equally when we go to the next world, why must we condemn this men in this world?Do we possess the omnipotent and truly just will of GOD? NO, and we dare not feign such power!

“The Ministry of GOD is not an instrument for the political endeavors of the lordships of any nation. It is, instead, a purely theological body which shall be subject to the will of no sovereign but the High Pontiff.”

The ministry of the church says that the church will not be used as an Instrument for political endeavors…. HYPOCRITES! Here and now many nobles use our faith as a cudgel to beat away personal rivals for Their Own Benefit! They care NONE for the common man! This is why they order us to do such atrocities, and hide behind the justification that it is “The will of God” when it is merely for their own Personal Gain!

We cannot stand for this! The Men of Norland, Haense, and the High elves have now been drawn into this total war, and unfortunately, we must finish what these corrupt individuals have started. There will be bloodshed, but all must remember who started this war….

While I personally disagree with the idea that any violence is admissible in the faith, I must concede, that salvation for the sins of this world can be earned through a Just Holy War in the original teachings… But do not be taken for fools my fellows, this is No Such War! Perhaps I could understand if there was legitimate heretic aggression leading up to now, but this isn’t the case!

There are no burnings of canonists in Norland, no crucifixions of the devout in Haense…  but there are burnings and crucifixions throughout the lands of the church!

The church is the aggressor ! For Heaven's Sake! HAENSE IS CANONIST! You are being sent out to kill the innocent, even our brothers and sisters! This is all done on the orders of a corrupt system. Corrupt both politically, and in the eyes of GOD!

If the true path is the right way, then surely through  debate, theological discussion, and religious missions will the nonbelievers find the faith.

 

To the Lords, the leaders, Stop your greed! You have been given the gift of leadership; do not squander what GOD has sought to bestow!  What good is a Holy empire if it is built on all that is unholy, and on the blood of your fellow man?

To the men of the cloth…  Save us! Cast off the chains of laziness and corruption; adorn yourselves with the robes of piety, and the sack-cloth of servitude. You too have been given a gift. Where you once heard the confessions and pleas of many men, now is the time for you to confess your sins upon your conscience before GOD and man! Do not let your fellow man be slaughtered over a task that has been always your responsibility! Remember you serve GOD, and ONLY GOD!  

To my fellow laypeople of the faith, do not fall into the trap that now presents itself to you; masking itself as God’s will when it is a  perversion of his laws! This war will lead to neither peace nor salvation! They would have you besmirch you good name, and condemn yourselves to the void through you condemnation of others! I beg you, demand a return to the true faith, become the people GOD wants you, us, to be!

 

I pray that the love and teachings of GOD may here be revitalized, and spread through peace, rather than mutual destruction and eternal damnation for all.

Lucienists hold two protocols for engagement. One: The Clergy is harmed and/or threatened. Two: There are undead. For those who have committed perceived heresy, such as evil magic or the rejection of the faith, the church holds trials, and offers methods for penance."
