GM Update Log - May 2018

May has been the first full month with Fireheart as lead. There have been a lot of changes going on behind the scenes and a huge shift in team culture which has led to a more closely unified GM team in both community and communication amongst each other. We have also been able to retain a lot of GM’s and have a positive growth ratio this month with the end goal this summer to achieve a functioning team of 25 staff members! We have set out to accomplish nearly everything we’ve wanted to do in May; the only two things not getting completed being our situation boxes for training and training for a dedicated group to focus on war procedures. Both these items will be completed in the month of June as they have been started, just not finished!

GM Training: There has been a lot of feedback given to us about being consistent and this is something we are always striving to achieve. To help us get better our focus has shifted to our base and our life-line, being our trials. All our trials are now taken through a streamlined training area <pictures> that we’ve built for the purpose of training new moderators. This area gives us a base to work with and helps us remain consistent between trainers as we go through the different aspects of server moderation and player management. The situation boxes are designed to take new trials through example modreqs they might encounter and it is something we are actively developing to add onto the training area in the near future!

 

Player Management: Another area we’ve taken to heart is how we handle situations with mass-confrontation. All of our trials for the month of April and May have been receiving player management training to better help teach them the perspective players have in a situation. This includes teaching moderators the importance of hearing out both sides of the issue, even if you have evidence, and also speaking to players through an issue to resolve it in a respectful manner that supports server guidelines. This does not apply to all situations, such as mass pugsy or DOXXing, but we are intent on developing out our communication skills with players and being more transparent in areas we can!

 

The Future: In the near future we will be looking at improving our moderation of poor villain rp and also be taking a look at a new system for coups. This will be our focus through the month of June as we look at these complex issues and figure out the best way to contribute to the safety and care of the LoTC community. The team is in a very solid state and has improved in leaps and bounds since the start of the year. Looking forward I will be encouraging GM’s, who typically hang out in our Game Moderation voice channel, to join me in spending more time in the public LoTC Discord. Our hope is that we can join in on helping make the community more inclusive and friendly for old and new players alike! * The GM team received a total of 3522 modreqs in May.

* Congratulations and thank you to: Tarrebear, LatePopeTrudeau and Corvoo for handling the most tickets!

 

The monthly quota for the GM-Team is 3%, for this month that meant an individual GM had to complete a total of 105 tickets. Below you can view the general statistics for all members of the team. Keep in mind some trials were accepted to the team, late in the month, the high Non-GM count is mostly due to Ioannis helping with coverage in GMT or other people leaving the team.

 

 

In addition to completed tickets, there was also a sizable GM Contribution in regard to:

Warclaims, raids, bans, ban-appeals and extensive modreqs. You can view these statistics below: (Note, submissions are voluntary and only count up to 100 points for moderators so this data is not fully accurate)

There is! When I was speaking to the admins I told them I would be willing to look at one of them for June and the other for July. We agreed that heist would be the one to look at for July so you will hear more about those down the line in the future! It is on my to-do list and GM sub-forum feedback is all cleared out besides those topics. I'll be sure to mention it in our update log for next month as well!
