Runic smoke grenades are allowed.

Iron-man laser rings are allowed.

Flying runic cities are allowed.

Building something that actually existed as it did in real life, in various incarnations, is not allowed. And re-posting a thread after FM block you from edit because the thread isn't about the submarine but the naval blockade and the war, is a banable offense.

Flying Runic Cities are not allowed, it existed for piss poor reasons. I don't know what the heck you mean by iron man laser rings though.

Hey all! I am somewhat familiar with the area and recall having a modreq several months back about someone wanting to claim it. It was meant to be used for an event related project on the map, but due to the staff involved leaving it's just sort of sat there and has been forgotten. I'll do a follow up with Flamboyant, Seventh, and Xarkly to ensure that it is not being used and if it isn't being used I'll ask for it to either be re-purposed or removed. I am unsure on whether or not it makes sense from a lore standpoint, but I'll do a follow up response once I look into it!

Thank you and if you have any questions you can ask here or private message me

this is a bad take tbh, particularly because there's nothing that breaks the fantasy element of the server about a floating castle island. it does remind me of the ascended's underground fun castle in 3.0 but tbh I don't see why you would be mad about that either. it fits the fantasy aesthetic just fine and doesn't really affect you, unless you're really eaten up about not having your own floating castle. but I'd like to remind you that the map is freebuild, there's infinite stone & dirt, and schematica exists, so there's that

with all that being said, banning someone because they have an anachronistic boat is ludicrous. I'm wondering when this server can just switch to just being a low-fantasy studio ghibli magi-tech setting, since the admins and lore team get to have their own laputa robots and flying machines and MArt mechanisms. this stuff isn't new, we had the same debate about the "techlock" last year and I remember there being steam-powered magic technology (steamboats particularly) all the way back at the start of athera. it'd only be fair at this point to let people, especially dwarf RPers, just have their steamboats and floaty islands and crystal-powered rune fridges. it makes our server look cool on PMC, it's aesthetically pleasing, and it hurts nobody.

bad and also bad. it should either be made freebuild or just left there for some enterprising player to explore. I don't know why you would purposely take an area out of the game instead of just unbanning medvekoma for following precedented lore, it doesn't make sense

In Aegis some Dwarves built a floating city called Kal'Himmelen, which you can see in this video where the Undead attacked it, after that it was written to have 'crashed to the sea floor' and either removed or moved to the ground (bonus points if you can spot a young 501warhead charging into battle, and a certain guy called pugsy fighting a giant zombie):

Also we Undead had a floating city which was imagined to have been a chunk of the nether ripped into the real world:

That's all I really have to say. Personally, if people create it and it's fun, just let it happen. Floating islands? Yeah, why not, as long as it's just 1 or 2. A partially underwater boat? What can be the harm in that, it certainly doesn't merit the outrage it received.

As others have said I imagine its basically because a floating island castle fits within the high fantasy theme, whereas a Soviet Nuclear Submarine does not

when medvekoma changed their post to make it serious and lore-compliant, he got banned

this server is extremely boring because whenever someone tries to do anything fun like blockade a port, or really do any sort of RP that is even slightly outside of convention, the staff (& especially the lore team) come down on it like a pack of ravenous wolves. what's happening to Medvekoma is basically almost what happened to us when we tried to use druid magic to pull down that wyvrun statue dude

I dont think he should have been banned I'm just saying that the LT were right to not allow a reenactment of "Das Boot" on LOTC

fair enough

Let me start with this: I'm not for the idea that submarines shouldn't be a thing; in fact, I like the idea, especially if it isn't magical. My issue is when you get something like a modern or nuclear sub, magic or no. I don't know what exactly happened with Medvakoma, so I can't say much on that.

This floating island motherfucker was meant for a world event, to my knowledge, so ET magic prevails. If only we, as the LT did something to deal with Arcadia. regrettably that didn't happen.

Laputa is cool, but I think it should be more for events rather than player hands. Floating things are a... touchy subject.

Okay! So island is moved off the main server in case Xarkly ever wants to use it for an event line. It's something that has been just sitting there collecting dust and serves no purpose on the live server. On the topic of if it meets the standards of lore I have confirmed with Flam and several other LT that there is lore that allows these floating islands to exist. I've asked one of them to provide me the specific piece that gives permission for a floating island to exist and will edit this response once I receive that.

It's because you can't warclaim a floating island.
