Forest Imp

Forest Imps by telthona

Habitat:

Thick Forest

Size:

Three feet tall for maximum height for both variants.

Diet:

Vegetarian, due to habitat in a thickened forest they utilize the claws for obtaining seeds and nuts which are the preferable food.

Temperament:

The Imps are cautious on meeting new creatures, being in such a thick forest usually those around damage and harm the habitat or try to feast on their species, seclusion is the best for these creatures alone if ever encountered due to an aggressive behavior if felt threatened.

Brief summary of the creature:

These creatures live in seclusion within thick forests where the sunlight fails to reach them, due to this the creatures have developed an luminescent head to keep track of individuals around them which is at the correct light-level that won’t harm these creatures. The both variants of assumed gender hold the male prominent to have non-attachable claws whereas the female prominent is able to detach theirs which is assumed for easier for resource gathering.

Characteristic: (Behavior, Reproduction, Gathering food)

The forest Imps act as one, though sharing what they have equally with everyone in the tribe. The species not developed enough for tools or weapons besides what they have themselves, this meaning they’ve not encountered outside intervention and will behave extremely cautious when meeting newcomers to aggressive if feeling threatened. The creatures hunting in packs with male dominants first in line and female dominants following behind them to gather anything they find, the claws on the creatures are equally sharp all round able to saw through wood at ease like a razor meaning flesh would be an extremely easy task for them  to slice/saw through.

The forest imps would communicate through the correlation of light luminescent they produce dimming and brightening with a constructive pattern to communicate. It is unknown how these creatures reproduce having no sexual organs visible on the body however the tribe never seems empty with new members growing swiftly when one falls.

Origin:

These creatures came from the trees, or so believed. It is unknowing where they came from as the communication barrier prevents them from communication, even from druids. It is only known that they’re native to these new lands.

Weaknesses:

The luminescent light they have is also one of the biggest weaknesses of the creature, easily disrupted by strong light levels which blind the forest imps. The creature itself however does have a thickened skin much like an orc despite its small size, with growing in an environment it has.

LM Approval Required:

No.

If playable, what are redlines?

These are ET event creatures for a native creature for the new map.

- Small size, yet decent speed. Think of a running halfling.

- Sharp claws, can easily saw through flesh / wood.

- Orc Thick Skin.

- Blinded by Light.

- Pack creatures.

Note to LT:

These creatures origin and purpose is supposed to be for the new map coming to add a unique creature within the forest biome. I posted this lore now being close to the new map to give preparation time for ET if they decide to add these creatures somewhere on the map for event purposes.

This is pretty cool, but consider using a different name! Sprites are already a creature on LotC.

If the creatures came from the trees, are they considered natural or of origins outside of Nature?

If they’re Natural, why can’t druids commune with them?

“  It is unknowing where they came from as the communication barrier prevents them from communication, even from druids

Meaning, they don’t speak and therefore have a dialect to communicate back to the druids if spoken towards. If one can translate how they communicate with the flickering of lights, then yes. They can communicate. Though this would be an extremely long process and difficult to get close.

Even if natural I am genuinely sick of this idea that druids can commune with all things ‘natural’ zzz

Wouldn’tmindbeingabletoplayasoneofthesetoo ;). Loving how they look, hits me right in the hollow knight. Could imagine wandering through a forest and seeing little lights running around the bases of the trees in the distance, going to investigate and finding nothing. Go to chop down a tree used as a home and suddenly my head is severed in two.  Me likey
