The following missive, publicised among the nations, is accompanied by a small addendum prior to the actual text.

“In light of perceived bad-faith falsehoods being peddled by the Aegrothondite Seastone Court in negotiation, the Atraedean Throne has decided to publicise its response to the general populations, so that no secret agreements or diplomatic engagement are unnecessarily kept from the people, and in order for the other side of the story to be given. Attached also are the missives preceding the current response.”

My brother-founder Belestram,

Recent developments have proved fortunate for reconciliation and peace among us. The inactivity of a previous archchancellor allowed me to step up and claim the post, and my top priority is to attempt diplomacy with you, to finally reach out and dispel the hostility between our once-united people. The Ithelanens, with whom you have such often understandable hatred no longer monopolise power here. If you would accept him, I would like to send the son of Abelas - Artanis, to Aegrothond in order to begin to help thaw relations Though our peoples may never be united again, we can begin the path towards friendly relations between kin.

Khaine

To the Archchancellor Khaine Csarathaire,
Servant of Gladewynn,

In order for diplomacy to proceed, the Principality of Aegrothond requires the following truths to be made public by the Crown and Chancellory of Gladewynn:

1. That the accusations of treason levied against the Prince Belestram Sylvaeri are fabricated in their entirety, and were originated for the political gain of the Ithelanen gangsterite faction during the declining years of the Dominion. Likewise the maiming of the Prince by “Kaz” was unjust, and demands an explicit apology.

2. The various denouncements of the House Silma, and other individuals loyal to the old order and ways, must be retracted. Those who resisted the rise of Gladewynn in the Dominion are the true loyalists of Elvendom, and heroes of the cause of Free Elves.

3. To that end, the claims of Gladewynn to the Crown of “all Elves” must be retracted- the Ithelanens and their rebranded faction Atraedes do not control a majority of Elvendom, and we are deeply insulted by the implication that they have some manner of sovereignty over our free state.

4. The attacks and maiming perpetrated by the Silver State (your vassal) upon our sovereign Elves must be denounced as an aggressive and baseless crime.

There will be no thaw until the Ithelanens (Atraedes) and the collective of Gladewynn become willing to admit their past wrongs, and the wrongs committed by their forebears. A new name and a new approach do not wash clean the blood and injustice perpetrated by their tyrannical founder, and there will be no peace or unity without justice. However, Aegrothond is not the aggressor-state in this dispute, and has striven always towards peace with honour.

We are willing to host you at Aegrothond, where you may rely upon the Prince’s peace, if you wish to discuss these points further. The status of Artanis may be discussed subsequently as well- we do not wish to frighten the boy, as his last visit prompted him to falsely accuse us of mistreating him (to the chagrin of his poor aunt Aelin.)

The Prince and the Seastone Court.

To the Prince of Aegrothond, my brother-founder Belestram Sylvaeri and the Seastone Court,

The response to our magnanimous and condition-free offer to warm relations has not gone down well with me, nor with the people of Gladewynn I represent and serve. Instead of welcoming peaceful relations, you have demanded and essentially commanded for the concession of various things, many of which are simply false and meant to be rejected. This missive shall attempt to both respond, and to correct the narrative which you seem to be negotiating by.

The accusations levelled on you, Belestram, as attested to by multiple witnesses are not untrue in the slightest. The Dwarven kingslayers looked to you, their ally, for confirmation before they slaughtered our king and my friend Abelas. You did nothing when you easily could have prevented it, wily semantics and sly words will not erase this. The punishment meted out on you after a trial by combat by King Cassius Atraedes was just, and their grievous nature exaggerated for political gain by your Aegrothondite Court. In fact, King Cassius even saved your life and was treated to hospitality by Illynora - your wife, for this deed.

In regard to the second point, the Atraedean Throne requires clarification on what it is actually being accused of. Should an apology be appropriate for the supposed offence of which we are currently unaware, then it will be given. Otherwise, it will not be. Moreover, we do not accept the latter clause that those who ‘resisted the rise of Gladewynn are the ‘true loyalists’, we acknowledge that choices to reject or accept its rise were made by many, and those choices have resulted in this current predicament. It is these choices which we wish to contend with now, under the guidance of my new administration.

As for your third demand, Atraedes are the kings of Caras Eldar and Gladewynn and the Elves that live within. Moveover, attempting to smear the formation of Atraedes as an illusory and deceptive ‘rebranding of the same thing’ is a falsehood which contributes utterly nothing to the proceedings. Ithelanen was not without fault in the demise of our former nation, among many other factors, and the ascension of Atraedes is an attempt to right the wrongs of the past. King Cassius also recognises the imperfection of his father as King, and does not claim to entirely wish to emulate him, instead wishing to learn from his mistakes to form a better state for all.

Your fourth demand regarding the Mali’Aheral also requires clarification. The rest of the administration and I are not aware and have not been aware of the details regarding any assault upon a citizen of Aegrothond by one of our vassals citizens. Should this have occurred for any illegitimate reason, and it proof is provided, then an apology shall indeed be issued and recompense given to the aggregate party. The Mali'Aheral have given their side of the story, and we should like to hear that of the victim, in order that justice might be done.

Overall, this saddening attempt at parrying a genuine attempt at diplomacy is not only wrong, it is belligerent and has angered me. All ‘olive branches’ extended by this ‘Seastone Court’ are of little utility for any but themselves, and reaching an agreeable conclusion on mutual terms is impossible under said conditions. This is self-evident in the missive received by me - the Archchancellor Khaine Csarathaire. You ask us to change and negotiate, but only on your false terms. The moment we attempt change in order to right past wrongs, you use this against us in a false manner. It is starkly clear that my attempts to thaw the relations between us will not progress unless your leadership changes its attitude.

Should you wish to do this, and negotiate on equal and mutually beneficial terms, our gates shall always be open to your diplomats, despite the many wrongs also done upon us by you, for the sake of our common ancestry as Malin’s children. As a token of generosity, your people shall formally be allowed to travel into our lands without fear of apprehension, arrest or persecution. Should this promise of safety be violated in any way, the perpetrator will be punished accordingly.

A parchment washes across Azoth’s desk, his eyes widening in disbelief. He re-reads the original missive as well as the response, a laugh escaping his throat. He shakes his head a few times, sending a short yet sweet letter to Khaine Csarathaire.

My friend,

Good work in keeping the truth well known and the deceit at bay.

The Druidess would read over the parchment that was publicly displayed, exhaling deeply at the responses going on between both parties. Though as she looked upon the first demand Aegrothond required, a flash of emerald hue would cast within her eyes before fading away quickly afterwards. It was then the mali’aheral would give a slight shake of her head and after finishing reading the rest of it, would move to depart back towards the Sage Way Sanctuary. “Much wind pours from your mouth.” Her voice would utter quietly as she gracefully moved down the path.

“Imagine banishing a group of Mali, raiding them, and then being insulted when they hesitate to engage in diplomacy. Large mouths attached to small brains,” a certain Snow Elf decides, tossing the missive into the fire.

“A skygod granted visions of the attempts to take my household without even consulting me. The imaginations of this populace.”

The elf frowns, moving off as he packed the rest of his items in a rather large, unhindered box and moved out of Gladewynn.

Cyrene’s brows furrow as she reads over the public papers, soon glancing down in thought. She mumbles to the person to her right. “Well... I guess it wouldn’t be the first time he’s done this. I’m becoming doubtful.”

Atandt ‘the Honorable’ Irongrinder states “I do nothing asides for the glory of the great leader ZAHRER IRONGRINDER the MERCIFUL. You can blame some elf for me chopping your kings head off but I would’ve done it again if I had the chance. Also not kingslayers. just kingslayer.”

Evar'tir Lorenthus Oranor Sulirrin Ithelanen reads over the display of notices from an aging office within Caras. The Chancellor leaned back, as he mulled the demands over. "The 'Aheral attacked Aegrothond?" The Exarch blinked to himself, lifting his gaze to scan the empty room, before returning to the correspondence between the two nations, cotinuing to read until the end.

"Interesting. Very interesting." With that, the Clan Elder began to pen a letter.

Victoria Vientos would chuckle from her home in Sutica.

“The fool hasn’t lost his pride and feeling of self-importance, even after all of these long years. It will be Belestram’s death,” She’d look to her husband, “And I will gladly wear my finest and make a toast on that glorious day. Perhaps, then, even sweet and simple Eris will be free from his grip.”

Vexalia Lothryne smiled deeply as word reached her through her ever loyal halfling secretary. “I’m glad they’re making peace... I wonder how many times Artimec was beaten to ensure these steps were taken.” With a soft chuckle to herself, the mali’fenn got to work on another paper. “I hope Kaz’s reign continues to be this decent, and that he stops calling himself a human name. Kaz suits him better.”
