For a long time, the process of being a snaga, becoming honorary, and what to do as a snaga has been somewhat vague- unclear. This is a guide for both masters and snagas themselves on how to command and how to be a snaga.

Kiv8RdeQdhSAPO3L0788cEyG-DmhKPoP8Yia_IR-a7zzY8GJUYxyhTmyDCD65rfeN3t2KD-N8iM5VgVjKFnQV7WrS1Exd5g8mG3Jw9q8_ZW5UNhH2FuNGgLBYWI2jzeKeBTVgC2A

For The Snagas:

Snagas must be loyal to their masters at all times. Snagas must go out of their way to do their best at tasks and excel. A snaga must at least be 16 years old for each race. They are expected to be strong, determined, and loyal to Krug and the goi, as that is how snagas are selected for the trials by their master or the snagagoth. Snagas must not talk back to their masters, unless they wish for a beating. Snagas must always listen to their masters and do what they are told. Snagas must always remember their place in orc society- snagas are property, and they must recognize that. Snagas must not betray their master or talk back to any orc. In addition, they must not leave krug or have a life outside of krug. Snaga duties and codes are as follows:

  • A snaga is expected to lend their mind and body to contribute to Krugmar’s workforce. They are to be forced to join the Worker’s Band, and fulfill their weekly quotas for at LEAST one branch.

  • A snaga is expected to praise and worship the spirits. Znagas will be put in contact with a zhomo for further indoctrination.

  • A snaga is held to the same codes as any uruk, as well as the same punishments.

  • A snaga must become a blank slate, and embrace the orkish molding by forfeiting their name, race, and past. Failure to do so will guarantee a life of slavery.

  • A snaga is not allowed to speak freely, especially in a disrespectful manner. Being a snaga means having no right to insult any true-born ork; One who failed to fight for their freedom may not freely disrespect their superiors.

  • A snaga is expected to learn about the orkish culture as a whole. Teachings will be provided by the snaga’s master. If the master fails to do so the snaga will be stripped from the ork, and will be auctioned off.

  • If a snaga is owned by a clan, they will have the clan insignia branded between the shoulderblades by the clan wargoth. If the snaga is not owned by the clan, the snagagoth will brand the krug insignia upon their left tricep or shoulder area.

Although snagas are property, you do not whip a horse if the horse is working. Snagas have rights, some of which include:

  • Alerting the snagagoth of abuse from their master. This can be excessive beating or beating when they are  already doing their tasks. Masters cannot needlessly beat snagas unless they feel the absolute need to.

  • Snagas have the right to a few personal possessions and clothes, however if these possessions or clothes limit efficiency in working they will be taken away or replaced.

  • A snaga is ENTITLED to basic squalor in order to survive. This includes food, water, and shelter. Masters should talk to the Yazgurtan about housing for their snaga if they are not to serve in the master's own blarg.

  • A snaga has the right to be protected by those of orkish blood against any hostile forces. This also includes protection from abusive masters. Snagas should not be punished without reason.

For The Masters:

Snaga masters must know how to keep snagas in line, discipline them, own them, get them to work, and generally use them to the best of their abilities. Snaga masters must be fair and just in disciplining snagas, as to not maim or injure them beyond the point of working.

Snaga master duties are things that all owners must know.  Snaga masters usually buy snagas, capture them, or fight other masters for them if the other master is deemed unworthy to hold snagas. Snaga masters are expected to:

  • Discipline snagas appropriately. Do NOT maim or injure them beyond the point of efficiently working if they are doing their proper tasks. If the snaga attacks you, you can give them fair punishment, as long as it is able to be healed by a zhomo.

  • Do NOT allow your snaga to talk back to you. Discipline them as necessary but do not cause any permanent injuries.

  • Do NOT allow your snaga to take comfort while under your watch, such as allowing them nice clothes, too many personal possessions (some are allowed), or a life outside of the War Nation.  You should always have them doing something productive.

  • Do NOT force your snaga into situations or on tasks of which they could die or be severely injured/maimed. They are slaves, and are not 100% expendable.

  • Do NOT neglect your snaga after claiming ownership. As the master it is your duty to mold your servant into an asset for Krugmar and possibly guide them along the path to honorary. Abandoning them to wander the city is neglecting your duties as a descendant of Krug.

On the Topic of Honoraries:

Snaga trials are something most snagas want to go through at one point in their snagadom. Snaga trials are the deciding factor if a snaga is strong and dedicated enough to become an honorary orc. Snagas must convert to spiritualism to be selected for the trials. This is non-negotiable. Snagas are selected for the trials by showing they are strong and dedicated after a certain amount of time, which is determined by the master. When a snaga master informs the snagagoth that their snaga is ready for trials, they along with the wargoth of their respective clan (if they are attached to one) will approve the servant if deemed worthy. Snaga trials consist of rituals and tasks listed below to deem the snaga worthy of becoming an honorary:

The Gauntlet:

First is to prove one’s tolerance for pain and their endurance to it. The trialist will be stripped down to just a loincloth and forced to slowly walk between a row of uruks on each side of them, the uruks cudgeling or beating the trialist as they walk. The trial is not intended to kill the trialist, but to weed out any weakness in the body and spirit. The trialist undergoes this to find their weaknesses and eliminate them: crying, whining, cowardice, lack of pain tolerance, among others. This is the first trial in the series, for any descendant of Krug must have strength of body and will.

The Bout:

Under guidance of the wargoth of the snaga’s clan (or the master/snagagoth if the snaga is not attached to a clan), the snaga will be trained in single combat. When they are ready, the snagagoth will place them in an arena to fight an uruk in a single honorable bout. The intent of this fight is to test their strength and skills in combat, not to needlessly maim or kill a trialist. It also is not necessary for the snaga to claim victory, but to show the skills and honor they have developed in training.

The Quest:

The quest is a clan specific trial given to the snaga by either the snagagoth (if the snaga is not attached to a clan) or the wargoth of their respective clan. The trial must be approved by the snagagoth.

The Sacrifice:

As the final step into a snaga’s journey into becoming an honorary, they will join a raiding party to hunt, capture, and sacrifice a member of their birth race. During the sacrificial ritual, which will be watched by the snagagoth and motsham, the trialist will be asked to cut the still beating heart from the sacrifice and consume it without hesitation. Refusal to do any step of this trial is considered an automatic failure. Trialists that fail this trial will be sacrificed as well. [OOC NOTE: This trial does NOT have a PK clause during the hunt, but it does have a PK clause for if you back out of the sacrifice. This clause is NOT for the victim of the capture but it is for the snaga if they back out of the ritual.]

The Rights of Honoraries:

Honoraries are, for the most part, like any other honorable orc. However, they are limited to several things, these being:

  • Honoraries can gain a goth position or a rex position, along with mid-level leadership. However, they can not be the snagaruka.

  • Honoraries can only breed with goblins (and other descendant races), to retain the bloodline of krug.

Other than the limitations listed above, honoraries can do anything a normal orc can do, such as speak blah or become a shaman.

The Second Path:

If the snaga is chosen for trialing and they do not want to become an honorary, they have the option to choose a second path. Second-class citizenry, which entitles the person to be allowed to have a house (you must pay for it, of course), protection from orcish enslavement, free passage, and basic citizen rights in krug. Second-class citizens MUST be dedicated to the spirits. They do not have as much freedom as honoraries, and can have NO leadership positions. The second class citizen will carry an identifying marker on their person proclaiming their status at all times, or forfeit said status until they do so.
