AmericanSimp 510 Popular Post Share Posted August 17, 2021 BLADE MANIPULATION - THE SOUL OF THE SWORD OVERVIEWFor the world advances everyday, even in regard to the way a swordsmen wields his sword. Let it be known that even the controlling of such through mana is not out of reach; therefore leading to what is known as Telumkinesis. This art of the sword is one that is not taught off of parchment or that of written literature, but one of bondage between the blade and soul. This specific art of swordplay is not akin to the mechanical practice of swinging metal upon metal, but revolved between the connection of soul and sword. This practice was one that has been refined throughout the years, however it’s accessibility to the world did not have the same fortune. To begin such a connection one must first grow close to a blade. Whether it be the sword used to defend one’s family, or the hunting dagger that has been passed down throughout the family; a connection to such must always be prominent. Once this connection has been established, one must then invoke their mana upon such. Through meditation and inner peace one may tap into such mana, allowing its network of connection within the body to be extended onto a bladed weapon in the same manner. Whether sword, spear, or dagger every weapon holds a story deep within its core. Once blade and soul have established a connection, the stories each share merge. Throughout the course of time, the tales of struggle and success are shared in a manner that helps strengthen the bond between a swordsman and his weapon. To a swordsman, their blade is akin to their closest friend, albeit one level above such. Should the blade of a swordsman find its end, not only will the heart of the soul be crushed, but the bond blade and soul once shared will be lost. ORIGINS Far off in the western mountains of Almaris, a small hut meticulously built by the hands of a singular man overlooked the teeming world. Bound to honor, seclusion, and tradition this man traversed the mountains daily, slowly yet surely collecting the resources to craft a forge. The forge swiftly found safety within the man’s hut, and soon birthed a blade as its flames burned like that of the sun. Etching the very essence of his own life within the blade's metal, the man crafted a blade to symbolize his journey within the vast mountains of Almaris. As he carried on with the remainder of his life, the blade forged within the fires of his hut never left his side. Sharing every hardship, every joy, and every encounter over the course of an honorable life the blade truly learned every aspect of its creator. Though like most descendants, death soon called the name of this mountain man as his last breath was taken peacefully within the depths of his hut. Time continued to flow yet again, turning the man to nothing but a pile of bones beneath a vine riddled hut. Clenched within his hands the blade which told his story, the blade which held his honor. Fate, then stepped in the door of this death riddled hut in the form of a young boy fleeing from an elderly slaver. Fearing for his own life, the young boy grasped the blade of the hut maker, and plunged it deep within the heart of the elder who wished to sell him for coin. Having saved his life, the boy retrieved the blade from the core of the elderly man, his gaze soon taking the moment to briefly look over the blade.. A simple, “Thank you.” filled the air as the boy then darted from the hut, blade in hand. Eventually the boy came to a halt atop one of the many peaks nearby, and took the moment to truly examine the blade he had acquired. As the fingers of the boy slid across the blade's edge, the stories etched within this blade's surface were soon revealed. Yet again, the blade found itself brought alongside the life of another human, watching him grow, develop, and thrive. Though unlike before, the boy took pride in the origins of this blade, sharing not only his stories, but the stories of the blade he so loved to wield. Soon the young man opted to dabble in the arts of the magi, in hopes of finding his place among the elite to no avail. Upon his failure, the boy returned to the mountains where the blade was forged, hoping to hone his magical abilities in the safety of seclusion. Days, months, and years passed by as the bone failed time and time again. The time finally came, for the young man to make one final attempt. Though unlike before, the boy did not attempt to make a connection with his soul and the void, rather the boy looked to the blade clenched between his digits. Falling deep into a meditative state, the boy’s focus was absolute and soon an unbreakable connection between swordsman and blade came to be. Sprouting deep along the surface of the blade, a flurry of mana filled veins slowly made themselves a home. As the connection truly came to fruition, an idle buzz began to emit from the surface of the blade. Not only had the young man discovered a connection lost to time, the young man found himself a friend more loyal than a god to its creation. Time continued to flow as always, and the bond between this blade and the young man continued to grow, producing abilities and new types of combat that would change the world of Almaris forever. THE VESSELThe vessel refers to the weapon in which a swordsman has made a connection with not only physically, but through their mana. Connected weapons are easily sought out in an armory as they create a humming noise, a sign of life within the metal itself. These vessels are metal, bladed weapons that tell a story of the user's life, and even reflects such in it’s swings. Connected weapons have an appearance of “veins” amongst the metal of the blade. These veins are an expanding network of mana within the metal, and the color of such reflects that of the user's aura. The stronger the connection, the more veins.Redlines Spoiler - Vessels must be ST signed to prevent loopholing connection lore, and tiering lore. If a vessel becomes completely destroyed, the process of tiering must be repeated. ABILITIES PassiveTelumkinesis (NC/C)Telumkinesis is the connection between user and sword, and is the first step to mastering the craft of such. This connection allows users to wield their bladed weapons in a fashion that breaks the laws of standard physics. Such a connection that allows them to control their sword not through physique, but through connection of one’s soul. This connection by no means makes a sword stronger in regards to force as it can only be wielded with the same power that the connected individual has already. An elf cannot have the same swinging force as an orc, and a mage cannot regain strength that they have lost through the process of voidal poisoning. This manipulation of a weapon in regards to speed, is only equivalent to the speed in which they would be able to throw such in the first place, meaning that there will be no super-sonic flying swords. As the connection between swordsman and blade grows stronger, so does the ability to manipulate such. This connection however is one that acquires the full attention of the user, making it so they cannot wield a weapon with their mind along with their physical nature. Should a swordsman connection be throttled to the point of no concentration, the sword will lose all aspects of telumkinesis.Mechanics: A swordsmen is able to use their weapon through a connection between mana and sword, allowing the sword to serve as a moving vessel free of the man’s hand. This way of combat has the same mechanics as normal blade CRP, save for the extension of range in which the weapon is used. To emote such, a swordsmen must have a connection between blade and mind, in which they can then maneuver it as they wish within limits described in the lore.Redlines Spoiler -Swordsman can only manipulate one weapon at a time should they choose to do so through mana connection, meaning they cannot use a sword through telumkinesis, and wield a sword at the same time.- The power of each swing is equivalent to the power that the swordsman would have if they swung it normally, meaning that there is no power advantage should they choose to use a weapon through telumkinesis. -While actively manipulating a weapon, the swordsman can only move 1-2 meters per emote. -No super-sonic speed swords.-If a swordsman connection is completely severed, their ability to control their weapon is non-existent. Tier OneBlade Connection (NC)(1 Emote)Once a swordsman has been taught to tap into their inner mana, and expel it onto a weapon of their choosing, a time will come in which they need to replace that weapon. To do so once must tap into their inner mana, before expelling it onto a weapon before them. Swordsmen can only be connected to one weapon at a time, and can only manipulate one weapon. This connection can only be made between beings that possess a strong state of mana, excluding soulless beings and beings with lesser souls. This connection is one only made with bladed weapons such as daggers, swords, spears, and etc. and can not be made between blunt weapons, irregular objects, shields, needles, ranged weaponry, and etc..Mechanics: A swordsman connects with their vessel allowing them to utilize it through telumkinesis. Once this connection has been made, the weapon must be signed by an ST to prevent loopholing, as they can only have one bladed weapon at a time.Redlines Spoiler -Swordsman can only make a connection between themselves and bladed weapons.-Only one connection at a time. ((This means you cannot manipulate more than one weapon at a time, as you can only be connected to one.)) Awakening (NC/C)(1 Emote - Connection)To activate the control between the wielder and weapon the swordsman must first make a connection to it. Upon connection the veins within the vessel will begin to glow the color of the user aura, alongside emitting a humming noise. Refer to the range in which a swordsman can awaken their sword to the tier system below in regards to their aura of control.Mechanics: The area of summoning goes as follows. Tier 1 = 1 Blocks, Tier 2 = 3 Blocks, Tier 3 = 5 Blocks. A swordsman must make one emote to activate their weapon, akin to if a person was to unsheathe a sword.Redlines Spoiler -A swordsman may use their connection to summon their weapon back to their aura of control should it be knocked aside or if they are caught off guard in combat scenarios.-To awaken a weapon it must be within the range of the swordsman.-A user cannot strike within the same emote as their awakening. Tier TwoBlade Hardening (NC)(3 Emotes - One Connect - One Cast - One Transformation)Once connected with their sword, a user may harden the physical material of their weapon. More times than not, this proves useless as they are only able to bring a material to the physical standard of average ferrum, a common material used for forging. To do this a swordsman must first activate the pre-existing connection between their soul and sword, before placing it within their grasp. After connecting their mind and sword as one, they can then manipulate the physical compound of the sword to harden it to the equivalent of ferrum. This ability can only be used once per weapon connection, and only affects a swordsman’s connected sword.Mechanics: A swordsman, outside of combat, can harden their vessel to the durability of ferrum, taking one emote to connect into their inner mana, one emote to cast it upon the weapon, and one emote of the weapon transforming.Redlines Spoiler -Weapons can only become as durable, and as hard as ferrum weaponry. -This can only be done to a connected weapon, not the weapon of others. -This cannot be done in combat.-This does not change the previous material of the weapon, only making it a hardened state that the aforementioned one. The Story Within (NC) (Emotes - One Connect - One Cast + [Amount required, no limit]) Hidden deep within the veins of a swordsman’s weapon lay the history of a weapon, and the stories shared between swordsman and blade. Swordsmen have the ability to imbue the weapon with mana in a way that allows for the weapon's veins to come to life. As the mana continues to flow into the blade, each of its veins begin to wriggle and writhe as they embrace their new energy. Then the swordsman speaks toward the blade, each of the veins dancing into shapes, symbols, or figures that bring the story told by the swordsman to life. Mechanics: Imbuing their mana onto the blade of their vessel, a swordsman is able to create a “living image” upon it. This is done through moving the veins of mana across the blade to make objects and stories come to life, a way of showing the devout connection between vessel and wielder.Redlines Spoiler -No highly detailed places, figures, or words.-Allowed artistic freedom in regards to implementation of the veins. -Veins cannot leave the surface of the blade -Cannot be used to metagame through telling the swords history. All personas brought to life through the blades' veins cannot be done so in a manner that reveals their identity. -Should the swordsman lose focus, the story fades and the veins return to their original positions. Tier ThreeRefinement (NC)(4 Emotes - One Connect - One Cast - Two Transformation)Should a swordsman’s weapon become near destroyed they have the ability to rejuvenate the livelihood of its future. Damaged vessels may be taken into hospitality by any tier three swordsman. To begin this process the weapon must first be placed upon a flat surface. Following that the weapon will need to be imbued with mana once more, just as it was when the initial connection was made. This imbuement of mana will fill the veins of the weapon, akin to how blood spreads within the veins of the user. Finishing the process the swordsmen will be unable to control their weapon for the following OOC day, whether it be their own sword or not due to mana exhaustion.Mechanics: After following the emote guideline of, One Connect - One Cast - Two Transformation, a swordsman is able to repair a vessel whether it be their own or a student, preventing from the complete destruction of it. This can only be done to weapons that have not been shattered, and only onto weapons that have bent, cracked, separated from the hilt, or snapped into two pieces in regards to the blade.Redlines Spoiler -Repairing a vessel will exhaust the user of all mana for an entire OOC day, leaving them unable to tap into their mana pool. TIERS Tier One - 2 OOC WeeksWhen a swordsman begins to master their art, they often realize the soul found within themselves can also be found within the heart of their blade. Upon acting on this discovery through the imbuing of their mana, the pair become linked until the destruction of either blade or descendant. Spoiler Can manipulate the sword within a zero-to-one meter range. Can harden the sword to the likeness of average ferrum. Tier Two - 2 OOC WeeksAs the connection between sword and swordsman continues to develop, their strength, speed, and capabilities continue to grow. Spoiler Can manipulate the sword within a zero-to-three meter range. Can recall their blade from up to five meters away. When recalling a blade, it cannot harm or collide with a player (The blade will simply go around obstacles). Tier Three - 3 OOC Weeks Upon mastering the art of the sword, the connection between the pair is visible through their unmatched prowess. Spoiler Can manipulate the sword within a zero-to-five meter range. Can recall their blade from up to ten meters away. When recalling a blade, it cannot harm or collide with a player (The blade will simply go around). Can only sharpen one's blade outside of combat. GENERAL REDLINES -Only one weapon can be bonded at one time. -The strength percentages and speed of your blade is based on the strength of your persona. If you are a mage, your blade will bear the downsides of voidal poisoning. -Only creatures with a greater soul may connect with a weapon. -No CA races such as Kha, Musin, Anthroparions, Homunculi, Wonks, or Ologs may utilize this lore due to a lack of a greater soul. -By no means can you perform ERP with your weapon, in any way. -If your sword is destroyed, you do not lose your FA, but you must restart at tier one with a new weapon. -While actively manipulating a weapon, the swordsman can only move 1-2 meters per emote. -Hardening and Refining abilities are non-combat only. PURPOSE Throughout many avenues of fantasy there is the use of weapon manipulation and sword manipulation and so on whether it be shows, literature, or even our imaginations. Creating such a piece of lore is one that we have imagined doing for quite some time, and there is nothing like 5AM ideas to get you started on this. Through weeks of compiling ideas, abilities, and making sure that there are drawbacks to even the smallest of magics within the server, we are proud to finally publish this piece of lore, and we hope to bring a step further into the fantasy side of roleplay by taking the sword out of the hand and into the mind. All this is, is simply taking what once was hand-held sword combat, to mind-controlled sword combat with the same mechanics, and same features, along with some roleplay enhancing abilities to guide you along the way.
