c. 406 ES

A meeting of the Reinmaren in the Wilhelburg Keep.

To the citizens of Hanseti-Ruska and honourable invitees below,

It has been a time of good fortune for the House of Barclay

As war grips the nations of man, the Duchy of Reinmar continues to prosper, despite the occasional Orenian incursion. Under the guidance of His Princely Grace, the House of Barclay has continued not only to maintain control of its holdings, but rise to new heights in the wake of what will surely be remembered as a most tumultuous period in the history of the House. Pressured by a Ducal Union, which excluded the Reinmaren, the Crown was persuaded to strip our proud House of our rightful Ducal title, reducing sits holdings to a mere county. Many believed these misfortunes would only continue with the reign of Duke Johann, a man whose reign they hoped would bring only further stagnation to the Reinmaren.

To the dismay of our detractors, the House of Barclay has emerged to take its rightful place at the forefront of Haeseni politics once more. It has spread to the distant Principality of Savoy, with the founding of the County of Freimark, and His Princely Grace has retaken the mantle of Lord Marshal to the King of Haense. This change of fortunes, with His Majesty seeing fit to restore the Duchy of Reinmar, the continued good health of the next Baron von Sigradz, and a prosperous reign of twenty-three years has spurred His Princely Grace to celebrate. He seeks not to host a simple feast, but a long-awaited traditional festival of the Reinmaren; the Oath of Macken.

16TH OF WZUVAR AND BYVCA

I. THE MELEE

All able-bodied men in attendance, unless they should protest, shall make their way to the tourney grounds at Wilheburg. There, they will be given blunted weapons and shall engage in a free-for-all battle. The second last man standing will be afforded a purse of 50 minae, while the victor of the bout will receive a purse of 150 minae.

II. RELAY RACE

Following the melee, a race consisting of two parts shall be held. Firstly, the participants will be sorted into teams of two, who will then choose a man between them to start. He who starts will complete a difficult track on horseback around Karosgrad before arriving at the docks of Reinmark. Once there, his teammate will set off on another track of similar difficulty, though he will be riding in a boat. The team which finishes both tracks first will win a purse of 400 minae, to be split evenly between them.

III. JOUSTING TOURNAMENT

The first day will conclude with a tournament of jousting. Lancers will be given slower horses to ensure a more interesting competition. The last man still on the back of his horse shall be titled the Champion on Reinmar and shall receive a purse of 200 minae.

16TH OF JULA AND PIOV

I. DUCAL BAPTISM

Before the Oath of Macken, the prospective Chieftain of the Reinmaren, per tradition, will be baptized under the eyes of GOD in the Chapel of St. Tylos. After the baptism of His Princely Grace, the children of the Ducal couple - including the heir to the Duchy, the Baron von Sigradz - shall also be baptized.

II. OATH OF MACKEN

After the baptisms have been undertaken, the ancient Reinmaren festival, the Oath of Macken, shall begin. The new Chieftain of the Reinmaren shall be selected and affirmed by representatives of the Reinmaren tribsemen during this event steeped in tradition.

III. CELEBRATORY FEAST

To conclude the festivities, a grand feast shall be held in the halls of Wilheburg. In addition to food, drink and general merriment, guests can expect a number of games and activities to partake in. These may include various drinking games, as well as games of chance.
