Memories upon the battlefield of the Prince of Providence

It was a cold morning in the winter when the soldiers had begun to place the armor upon the chest. It was a cold morning when families of the realm wished loved ones blessings, and it was a cold morning in which the Empire had begun to march away from the gates of New Providence towards the land once lost to them. Amongst it all, it was spirit and courage in which they held as they began to move forward.

The forces of the Holy Orenian Empire, the men of Blackvale, the Ferryman, and the Son’s of Nagg had formed together in columns as they pushed forward towards the foes. As they approached the battlefield that would be the lone tree within Lower Petra they had seen forces lined and ready to combat the combined forces. They were outnumbered, they had seen a horde of heathens prepared to jump at a moment’s notice towards the men and women who stood as defenders of the Empire and of the realm. God was watching.

Peter Augustus stood amongst the footmen near the front of the line. He watched as his father and the commanders of the army would shout orders towards the various battalions that would stand to face the test before them. God willing he thought victory was within sight. As others would begin to bang shields and blades together and scream, “Long live the Empire!” The Prince would join in, Long live! Long live! Shall they never forget the night they faced men and women of conviction and worth. But one man of our force is equal to ten of the foolish!” He screamed as the banging of the blade and shield would grow louder.

Both forces rushed forward with all the might they held against one another. Blades locked into place – whether  they would be a man, dwarf, orc or any other within the conflict. The battle took place over days as slowly but surely the lone tree stood still. Hundreds, Thousands, Tens of Thousands of bodies remained to the center of the town as vultures would look over the scenes.

As they continued to exchange blades and shouts the last of the combat would begin to fade and one side took clear lead. Images would remain planted to the young Prince even if this was not the first battle nor the last in which he would take field in.

Oren and her own remained victorious, the Prince would be bloodied as his face was covered with others and his own. He would arise slowly as he offered a smile towards the comrades that remained to his side – his expression remained one filled with joy that it was in victory – and yet that it was over. God had stood with his own on the given night. He would raise his blade, “SHALL THE EMPIRE PREVAIL!” As his comrades would reply the same. The last few hundred foes would run away from the town. As the commanders and the Emperor began to order the forces to carry on from the battle the youth looked back – the lone tree stood tall, and an Orenian flag remained planted to her side.

“Until we face the foes next – for today and the days coming, we are filled with pride and vigor.”

Diana Vuiller would smile with a hopeful look in her eyes as she read with missive. "It is always good to see the Prince be ever so patriotic. Ave Orenia!" She'd say as she raised her wine glass up to her husband! "Shall the Prince of Providence continue to serve the Empire loyally!"

The Duke of Azor read over the missive from the well travelled Imperial command post within the top half of liberated Lower Petra. "Very good, with men such as these we shall soon rid the Sedanian rats from this land!"

"His Imperial Highness the Prince of Providence represents the best values of our country and the bright future that awaits us all after we win the war: a new Golden Age of imperial prosperity and economic growth for us and for the next generations of Orenians to enjoy. Long live the Prince and long live the Empire!" Sir Charles Galbraith remarked upon hearing of Peter Augustus' heroic deeds on the field of battle.

Elijah Keen, upon the completion of the very literate missive, nodded his head and announced to his family court.

"This, my friends, this, is the epitome of based."

He then penned the Baron of Archisdorf his thoughts.
