✧ The Taelu’Avernan ✧

“This guild? It's not for us. It's for the people that can't learn what we can because they're not allowed the same experiences. Our writings? Our research? That's for them.” - Axilya, Founder of the Taelu’Avernan

History:
Founded in the struggles of living in a world meant solely for hearing people and heavily inspired by the familial values of the Vale of Nevaehlen, the culture of past Mali’Ame seeds, as well as the passion and pursuit of adventure, did such an idea come to fruition. To take the best of what has been priorly learnt, experienced, and observed and meld it into something new that would grow and develop its own traditions and values as its members do, in order to share knowledge and information about any and all subjects with the world. Created by the deaf elfess known as Axilya and after much turmoil in finding a place to properly settle within, the Taelu’Avernan now resides within the welcoming arms of the home of the Father Circle and ‘Ame culture.

Values:

At its core, the Taelu’Avernan are a gathering of peoples bound to or respectful of Aspectism that focus upon the adventure of experience, knowledge, and growth; firstly of the self, before following with family, community, and lastly, the world. The Taelu’Avernan are a close knit group, more akin to family than anything else. None shall be left behind or forgotten and everything they do, they do together. The safety and livelihood of each member is just as important as the next and it’s more than expected that guild members look out for each other both on and off the expedition-field.

Beyond that, however, the Taelu’Avernan are a group of adventurers that wish to assist in bringing knowledge to those that are unable to learn about or experience a specific subject - no matter how grand and dangerous the task or how small and trivial the research may seem - due to a disability, position in life, way of living, and/or etcetera. The Taelu’Avernan aim to leave as little impact upon the unexplored, choosing instead to learn and leave rather than mindlessly kill and take whenever possible. There is never an action performed by the members of the guild that bears no reason. In addition, so long as it is possible to research, the Taelu’Avernan are willing to give it a shot.

Though the guild prides itself upon its ‘Ame ways, one need not be a Mali’Ame to join. They must simply respect the culture, be within the good graces of the Vale of Nevaehlen, and hold a care for nature’s balance.

Religion:

The Taelu’Avernan, while walking in the footsteps of Aspectism, has no set religion its members are required to primarily follow. Members are free to practice their own religions within the guildhall and around guild members so long as it doesn’t directly contradict the belief values of the Wild Faith. That being said, there are some minor traditions directly implemented into the practice of the guild itself in order to retain respect for the balance and origins of the guild’s foundation.

In addition, while no descendant is perfect, if one is found deliberately upsetting the balance, found to be a necromancer, mystic, dragonkin, voidal mage, or bear any other dark magicks, they will be harshly dealt with and kicked from the guild.

Structure:

In an attempt to keep every member safe upon expeditions, the Taelu’Avernan bears an inherent structure of command and titles:

I: THE GUILD LEADER:

The Av’Chirr

translated roughly to ‘the Wandering Wolf’, is the current guild leader, and bears all autonomy over the guild. Should the Av’Chirr not be present, the trio of branch leaders (the Av’Tayna, the Av’Lareh, and the Av’Maehr) retain autonomy, followed by branch members themselves, and lastly but not least, unspecialized guild members.

II: THE GUILD BRANCH LEADERS:

The Av’Tayna

translated roughly to ‘Wandering Life’, is the current medic leader, responsible for regularly training up the medical branch and ensuring all Av’oeman know, at the minimum, first aid. It is their responsibility to oversee the members of the Medical Branch and ensure all responsibilities are being upheld.

The Av’Lareh

translated roughly to ‘Wandering Mountain’, is the current warrior leader, responsible for training up the members of the warrior branch and ensuring all Av’oeman know, at the minimum, basic self defense and formations. It is their responsibility to oversee the members of the Warrior’s Branch and ensure all responsibilities are being upheld.

The Av’Maehr

translated roughly to ‘Wandering Wisdom’, is the current researcher lead, responsible for preparing and training members of the scholar’s branch and ensuring all Av’oeman know, at the minimum, how the Taelu’Avernan operate on a guild sanctioned expedition. The Av’Maehr is also largely responsible for the upkeep of the Taelu’Avernan’s records and tomes. It is their responsibility to oversee the members of the Scholar’s Branch and ensure all responsibilities are being upheld.

III: THE GUILD BRANCHES:

The Av’oeman Tali’Taeleh

translated roughly to ‘Wandering Ones Part of Mind’, otherwise known as the Scholar’s Branch, are fully fledged members who have passed further trials to take on greater responsibilities and specialize in the gathering and spreading of knowledge.

Spoiler

Scholars of the guild are often sought out for their guidance, for they are the ones who strive to be wise in life. Their thirst for knowledge is what feeds the guild and spurs it forth as the world evolves. In addition, scholars are often the craftspeople of the Taelu’Avernan. While anyone can make a spear or trinket or armor, it is those who learn, practice, and absorb that become masters of creation. Their crafts supply the guild with the necessary equipment for expeditions and their knowledge learned helps prevent unnecessary loss during a mission. Upon a guild sanctioned expedition, it is the scholars’ role to keep logs of all that happens and all that is discovered, no matter how mundane. Scholars are the foremost leaders of an expedition when a branch or guild head is not present. It is they who lead the guild’s goal of research, learning, and understanding forth, utilizing their learnt skills until a clear physical threat or medical emergency arises. As such, Scholars bear the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for handling minor diplomatic necessities during an expedition, such as asking other groups for information, attempting to use speech to deescalate a situation when possible, and so on.
    • However: the Taelu’Avernan are representatives of the Vale. It is prudent that Scholars do not make allies on behalf of the Vale, nor the guild itself. Should such a situation arise, The guild leaders will act as a collective unit in regards to it.
      • The purpose of this responsibility is to retain immediate safety and efficiency of an expedition group.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Av'oeman are fully prepared for an expedition.
    • This is handled through briefings before an expedition sets out and can contain multiples.
    • Scholars are to make sure everyone knows what the Taelu’Avernan may be encountering, what the objectives of the expedition are, and that everyone participating understands the rules of the guild.
  • Responsible for listening to the other branches' suggestions during an expedition, taking them into consideration, and making the final call outside of a combat or medical situation.
  • Know and utilize the strengths and weaknesses of fellow guild members during an expedition. This includes but is not limited to those of all three branches.
  • Responsible for creating logs and reports of an expedition during or after the mission, as well as the debriefing processes.
    • The debriefing process includes delivering results to the leaders of the guild: Expedition logs, items obtained, and further knowledge gathered.
  • Outside of an expedition, and as a way to grow closer to fellow guildmates, the Scholars are responsible for aiding all other Av'oeman in creating and sharing tomes of knowledge.

The Av’Oeman Tali’Diraar

translated roughly to ‘Wandering Ones Part of Guard’, otherwise known as the Warrior’s Branch, are fully fledged members who have passed further trials to take on greater responsibilities and specialize in the leading and protection of guild members in combat.

Spoiler

The warriors of the guild are first and foremost protectors. It is their job to value the lives of the Av’oeman over all else. Fighters of the seed sacrifice much of their time training to become strong in both mind and body, quick on their feet and trained to be aware of every aspect of their surroundings. It is not unusual to find two or more members sparring on land or training their specific senses, and they often seek out the knowledge of the scholars and the partnership of the healers during an adventure. On an expedition, it is their job to bring all members of the guild back home, alive and relatively unharmed. They are the first to enter a situation and the last. When the other two branches join in on any fighting, it is this branch that leads them through the battle. Though they may call the final shots during such a situation, a true warrior allows those they protect to advise them. Should an expedition descend into physical violence, and without a branch or guild leader present, it is this branch that then works together to lead the group back to safety. As such, Warriors bear the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining the sole goal and objective of ensuring the Scholars and Healers - and their fellow Warriors - return home as safe as possible.
    • The warriors have the final say on whether or not the expedition should turn back due to danger or suspected danger towards the group, and can overrule the majority that wish to continue on if needed.
  • Responsible for knowing the strengths and weaknesses of their fellow Av'oeman and being able to utilize these in a combat situation.
  • Responsible for working with their fellow warriors to lead as well as making the final calls during a combat situation.
  • Responsible for listening to the other branches' suggestions during an expedition, taking them into consideration, and making the final call during a combat situation.
  • Responsible for being the shield and the swords of the group: protectors.
    • They are the first ones in and the last ones out of new areas and situations.
  • Responsible for keeping the group together during an expedition.
    • “Whatever we do, we do together”.
    • "If all else fails, the needs and health of the many outweigh the few.”
  • Outside of expeditions, the Warriors of the guild are responsible for training with each other as well as training up the other Av'oeman.
    • This goes hand in hand with knowing the strengths and weaknesses of one’s kin. They are responsible for training up both body and mind of themselves as well as their guildmates.
    • Practices in the physical form as well as the mind are run by them.

The Av’oem Tali’Walehan

translated roughly to ‘Wandering Ones Part of Healing’, otherwise known as the Healer’s Branch, are fully fledged members who have passed further trials to take on greater responsibilities and specialize in the health of both mind and body for guild members both in and out of expeditions.

Spoiler

The Healers of the Taelu’Avernan are well respected, as it is they who keep the danger-prone Av’oeman alive before, during, and after expeditions. It is they who work to prepare salves and supplies for the rest of the guild, as well as ensure expeditions are conducted in the safest manner possible while out in the field. Any Healers on an expedition are considered field medics, and should conduct themselves as such: ensuring a balance of care between keeping oneself and others alive. During a medical emergency, it is the members of the Healer’s branch that default to leaders of the expedition when a branch or guild head is not present, with the exception of the Warrior branch’s leadership during an active and physical threat to the Av’oemans wellbeing. As such, Healers bear the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for taking charge during a medical emergency and performing any medical needs necessary in order to keep the injured Av'oeman alive.
  • Responsible for utilizing the other members of the Av’oeman - their strengths and weaknesses - when they are in charge, such as having the warriors stand guard or assist in getting the injured to safety while scholars act as extra hands for supplies and aid where possible.
  • During a briefing, the Healer’s branch is responsible for ensuring the Av'oeman have enough medical supplies, rations, and other health related equipment before an expedition.
  • During a briefing, the Healer’s branch is responsible for approving the physical health of each Av'oeman before departing.
    • A Healer has full right to bench a guild member if they have adequate reason to believe said guild member is not at a reasonable condition in both mind and body.
  • Outside of expeditions, the Healers of the guild are to perform routine lessons on first aid.
  • Before, during, and after an expedition, the Healer’s branch members are to keep an eye on the mental wellbeing of the Av'oem as a whole, as well as check in with Av’oem individuals on occasion.
    • The work of an Av’oem can be taxing, and up keeping an Av’oem’s health is the most important aspect of the guild’s work.

IV: THE GUILD MEMBERS:

The Av’oeman Maehr’sae

translated roughly to ‘Wandering Ones Disseminating Knowledge’, are the current guild members who have fully passed their trials and are active within the guild.

Spoiler

For the Av’oeman who have passed their trials but have yet to prove their skills to become specialized, or for those that have passed their trials and do not wish to enter a specialization, certain responsibilities befall them in their contributions to the health and knowledgable wealth of the Taelu’Avernan. As such, every Av’oeman, including those who work further within a branch, bear the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for researching and recording information, creating tomes and crafting items to share the knowledge that they as an individual or they as a guild whole have collected.
  • Responsible for the sharing of knowledge collected through:
    • Word of mouth.
    • Hosting small scale events to assist in the spread of knowledge.
    • Creating tomes viable for public usage.
  • Responsible for offering suggestions and sharing opinions with each fellow Av’oeman during and out of expeditions.
  • Responsible for knowing what constitutes a change in branch leadership during an expedition as well as respecting the final calls made by said branch members.
  • Responsible for finding trust in fellow Av'oem and allowing their knowledge, suggestions, and opinions to influence a branch member’s final call.
  • Responsible for finding time outside of expeditions to get to know fellow Av’oeman.

The Av’oeman Sirame’sae

roughly translating to ‘Wandering Ones Developing Honor’, otherwise known as honoraries, are members of the guild who have passed their initiate’s trials but are unable to enter the field with the rest of the guild based on personal circumstance, be it age, physical disabilities, or even just a desire to not join their guild mates on expeditions.

The Av’oeman

Translated roughly to ‘Wandering Ones’, are the current guild members who have fully passed their trials and are active within the guild.

The Taelu’Avernan Initiate

Are simply that! Aspiring members that have yet to complete their trials.

Guild Branches:
Those that have passed their trials and taken up the rank of the Av’oeman further their responsibilities within the guild to specialize in certain areas - particularly used during a guild run expedition. These specializations, though able to be switched between expeditions, are encouraged to be stuck with for at least four years at a time. When switching, it is required that the Av’oem inform the branch leaders or the Av’Chirr. Regardless of what branch one takes up, all members are encouraged to further their knowledge within all specializations.

The Warrior’s Branch:
The warriors of the guild are first and foremost protectors. It is their job to value the lives of the Av’oeman over all else. Fighters of the seed sacrifice much of their time training to become strong in both mind and body, quick on their feet and trained to be aware of every aspect of their surroundings. During a medical emergency, it is the members of the healer’s branch that default to leaders of the expedition when a branch or guild head is not present, with the exception of the warrior branch’s leadership during an active and physical threat to the Av’oemans wellbeing.

Their thirst for knowledge is what feeds the guild and spurs it forth as the world evolves. In addition, scholars are often the craftspeople of the Taelu’Avernan. It is they who lead the guild’s goal of research, learning, and understanding forth, utilizing their learnt skills until a clear physical threat or medical emergency arises.

Trials:
One wishing to join the Taelu’Avernan must undergo a series of 3 trials, overseen by the Av’Chirr or one of the branch leaders:

  1. Firstly, the initiate must reach out to one person from each of the three branches and record their answers to the following questions: What does ‘Taelu’Avernan’ mean to them? Why did they commit to the branch they work under? What has been their greatest adventure yet? When the initiate has finished recording the answers and gotten to know their interviewee, they may return for review and, thereafter, move on to their second task
  2. The second trial involves showing prowess for a branch of the Taelu’Avernan, for while it is not mandatory to classify towards one branch in particular, it is necessary for the initiate to understand the importance of such a structure.
    • Those interested in medicine shall shadow a medic of the Taelu’Avernan, assist or observe in the curing of three individuals, then record the experience and return it for review
    • Those bearing a thirst for knowledge shall go out into the field and record their observations of three various encounters that they learned something from. This knowledge can range from recording the behavior of a certain species to scribing down the events that soon turn to history.
    • Those bearing a physical prowess shall spar thrice, on three separate instances, and with three different weapons or techniques, before having their sparring partner or teacher vouch for their completion. It is not required for the initiate to win the spars, however, but rather experience the fight and learn from their mistakes.
  3. The last trial is a simple one. The initiate must return to their reviewer and tell them why they seek to join the Taelu’Avernan. Should the answer satisfy the reviewer, the initiate’s trials will have been completed!

Upon completion of all trials, the initiate shall lead a Wild Hunt, an honor and rite of passage into the ranks and family of the Taelu’Avernan as well as an acknowledgment of Aspectism and the Balance, followed by a feast from the meat of the animal hunted - typically elk. This hunt will not only introduce the initiate to the way the guild operates as a group upon an expedition, but it will also allow the Av’oeman to get a grasp for what the newest member’s current abilities are. After the hunt, the pelt of the animal shall be turned towards the guild hall, where it shall be used within various crafts, armors, and weapons. Alternatively, one may instead lead an expedition of their choice, provided it is approved by their reviewer.

Trials had been completed, and the uncle of a straw hat drinker, former nomad and captain of a pirate ship, once a adventurous spirit regained the spark of his youth as he joined folks of a similar mindset. Easing himself into the situation and getting quite comfortable and content as tales were regaled, stories were told and ideas of adventure and exploration was done together. But there was one thing he realized about this guild...

 "
We need more booze stat. Oy niece! Do we have any back lock? Need to help these lads and lasses loosen up aye bit!"
