MissToni 3487 Popular Post Share Posted February 5, 2023 Spoiler The Death of a Crow Katerina had over the years had many encounters with death, yet had always escaped its grasp every time. During her youth she had always been thankful for not meeting her end, but now she was old and in pain. She had hidden it to her friends, her fellow clergy members and her family. Perhaps if some had questioned the use of her cane they might have known or the fact she was often seen with red eyes due to the use of drugs to avoid feeling the pain. But none had pressured, and when asked how she had been doing she’d put on a smile and pretend she was fine. She hadn’t even told the elfess she considered more of her mother than her real one of her problems. Aestenia was much too dear to her than to inform her of her suffering, even during their last meeting. But she had a feeling she had known, nothing could get past her mentor after all. She was now laying on her deathbed, surrounded by friends and family. She glanced over to Analiesa, smiling fondly at her great-great niece. Her hand reached to touch her cheek. “Vyr now a woman my dear. Remember to take care of vyrself. Ea shall watch over vy from the seven skies with vyr mamej and papej. Remember our many talks, da?” She wiped away the tears that were felled from Analiesa’s eyes from her cheek. “I don’t want to care for myself. I want you to watch over me here. Please don’t go, don’t leave.” Katerina wanted nothing more than to say she wouldn’t go at that moment. To hug her and tell her she would be there with her forever. But she couldn’t, as it would be a lie “Ea will always be here with vy, in vyr heart my dear” was all she could say to give comfort to her beloved Analiesa. Another familiar face dawned in front of Katerina’s bed, Bishop Iosif, as he leaned down to give her the last rites. A smile on her lips as she waved him forward to speak as she could tell he wanted to say something more as well. “Thank you for teaching me of the scrolls and for taking me to Felder's rock. That’s when I knew I wanted to become a priest.” She nodded her head “Vy were my best student, ea know vy will do wonders in my footsteps as vy become the Patriarch of Jorenus after me. But remember to life vyr life as well, da?” Katerina came to also spot Marius in the corner of her eye, waving the boy towards herself. Though he was no longer a boy anymore, he had become a man. “Marius, although it did niet happen the way ea had hoped it would. Vy finally found a woman to love, and ea give vy my blessing. But ea see vy, ea see the mask vy carry. Vy might get to love a woman now, but love vyrself, Marius. Above all, for there is only one vy.” For a second she saw the mask slip and a nod came in response from the man “Guide me from the seven skies, da?” And then she smiled at him. Katerina turned her head to face Georg, the boy that had always been such a cheerful little bundle of joy. His happiness was perhaps no longer as visible anymore, she knew why of course. The loss of his parents and the burden of the crown would be enough to stifle any joy from even the strongest of men. “You will struggle my dear, ea wish ea could have stayed longer to be there for vy and help ease vyr burdens. But my time is up it seems. Don’t lose vyrself to the power of the crown like so many have done before vy. Surround vyrself with people vy trust will keep vy on a dobry path and call vy out if vy stray. And if vy ever need me, just walk to any church and pray. And ea shall be right there to comfort vy.” She squeezed George’s hand, offering him a bittersweet smile filled with regret of not being able to spend more time with him anymore despite having watched him grow up and been there his whole life. If only she could have lived longer, but she knew that she had already lived a long enough life. After all, many died young in this world. “I shan't tend to disturb you, hauchhauchaedymamej. You have lived a long life, and you have done much. The most I can ask for you is that you let your soul rest, and in knowing that I will find a great comfort.” And she knew then, that she could rest. She barely even registered the touch of Georg and Analiesa holding her hands dearly as she began to slip, she thought of her past memories. She thought of Mariya of Aurveldt, her best friend, and she thought of Camilla vas Ruthern, Stefan Vyronov and Marie Barclay. A chuckle escaped her lips as the image of Stefan in a dress when they had all forced him to wear one after her hauchmetvas had been a fiasco. “My friends… Yam finally joining vy now” she whispered. Then the pain stopped, it was no longer hard to breathe and her body no longer felt heavy. And she was met with many familiar faces in a place she did not recognize. Katerina Ceciliya Barbanov-Bihar was dead. Katerina Ceciliya Barbanov-Bihar 347 E.S. - 463 E.S. The Pontifical Chamberlain of the Church of the Canon, and the Matriarch of Jorenus OOC: Spoiler Thank you to everyone who has made Katerina such a blast to play from her childhood to old age. I have played this character for an amazing two years almost, it’s fricking insane. But she has been my favourite character in her later years after she became a priest. Thank you to Kevin for allowing women to become priests, it has been a wonderful experience. And thank you to Ramon and Fionn for letting my character climb the ranks of Bishop to then being the first Matriarch of Jorenus. It has been so much fun being welcomed back in Haense on this character after I originally left with her. Thank you to lilly for always sticking around and listening to all my vents when it came to Katerina, and for being an amazing friend on Mariya and like a chosen mother on Aestenia to Kat. Thank you to Zaerie, Julius, Ender, Pepsi, Wolfey, Valannor, Vic, Siren, Unbaed, Doreebear, Sarah and Xarkly for also making her more fun to play during a rough time for me when she was younger. Katerina has gone through so much and I sometimes wished it had been way less of a rollercoaster, but in the end I am thankful for her becoming such a strong and powerful character. I never imagined she’d be the first Matriarch of Jorenus and have such an importance to play in the church alongside the rest of the curia. Thank you to Balthy, Borin, Mordhaund, Burnsider, Littyfam, MCVDK, Nolan, Milkiy, Greener and so many others in the church. Hope you all continue to do your best with it on your characters without Kat. It has been a wonderful experience getting to play with you all and decide things alongside you all for the Church in roleplay and oocly. As for the rest of you all, thank you. A last thanks to Gus, GMRO, Shay, Peachy, Mio, Livrose, Xarkly, Zuzie and Coolcod for making Katerina also feel part of the Barbanov family again.

Fionn__TWG 2616 Share Posted February 5, 2023 "It is always ein pleasure to see ein preacher of His word come to join Him in the Skies." Tylos III remarked as he welcomed Katerina. "At least two of ihr vater's kids has ascended in the end. GOTT knows the eldest is always the most troublesome." he quipped, a chuckle following shortly after as he turned to walk deeper into God's domain.
CopOwl 1668 Share Posted February 5, 2023 What once was Adrianna Darkwood, now just a faint Spectre, caught the wind of the remnants of her dying mentor. The Cardinal of Jorenus's name whispered on the wind, and long-forgotten memories of doctorhood, apprenticeship, and lessons under the then-Surgeon General were returned to the lonely spirit's mind; she shed a tear. Adele Ludovar hears the news of Katerina's death from one of her overworked clerks. "Oh mea...." Murmurs the mournful Lady Justiciar, signing the lorraine in respect of the aged Princess, Surgeon General, first female Priest, Cardinal, and in memory of all of the other wonderful and fascinating things that Katerina Barbanov-Bihar had done in her long life. Notably, wife was not among that list. "Vy were admirable, vyr eminence..." Murmurs the aged woman, stifling a hacking cough. Adele lights a candle in her window that evening to honour the remarkable legacy of a Princess. "Spasiba for vyr wise counsel on the occasions we spent together."
Maevlin 681 Share Posted February 5, 2023 Aestenia Aevaris smiled softly as she looked at the missive, then to the living doll that now resided within her office. "You did well Kat dear, may you get to rest well now.." She looked out to the forest, taking a moment to mourn the last of the human children she helped raise. Mariya couldn't stop bouncing around, her grin growing into a bright smile as she finally saw Kat since she asked her to send her off. "Schwester, you and I have a lot of catching up to do..." She couldn't hold in her happy tears as she pulled Kat in for a hug and further into the seven skies.

Lokvank 339 Share Posted February 5, 2023 (edited) A certain deceased musician, Gustaf Sigismund Morovar, would raise his eyes from the sheet music he was looking at and lower his reading glasses in order to set his gaze on the figure who had just entered the Seven Skies, where he had been residing for some time already "Ah, it took vy quite a while" he would comment while scratching his chin, then offering a small smile "Ea almost thought vy would never come, cousin" he added Edited February 5, 2023 by Lokvank

Nolan_ 4221 Share Posted February 5, 2023 Bishop Iosif sat in the Basilica's library, brought back to the present by an intentional cough from the acolyte. "Oh!" He responded having snapped out of his reminiscing. "Where were we? Ah yes, the Canticle of Charity." Iosif's eyes crept along the common translation and a soft smirk found itself onto his face at the fond memory when he asked "Would you read lines five and six for me?""'And so I have placed into your hearts the blessings of abundance: the virtuous wealth of the spirit. And as I have given to you this blessing of My Word, you shall also give unto your fellows.'" The young acolyte then looked up at the Bishop with brows furrowed in confusion. "What does it mean, Father?"Iosif exhaled an amused snort. "I'm going to tell you exactly what my mentor Katerina told me. . ."
