The Duchy of Adria, having now firmly re-established itself upon the continent of Almaris, now seeks to elect its Duke once again. Given the recent abdication of Duke Heinrik ‘the Victor’ of House Sarkozic, the faithful electors and government of Adria stand to respect the tradition of Dumacracy and find a new leader from among the ranks of the Adrians. With our nation having rooted itself in the fertile lands of the Lower Petra, having won its independence at Rolly’s Hill, and having secured its sovereignty against an invading coalition, we now aim to continue our long-held traditions and see them perfected in a peaceful transfer of power. 

 

The Duchy of Adria invites all of the recognized Electors of Adria, as named and confirmed in the Document of Abdication of Duke Heinrik, to come to Velec and elect a Duke. It is time that a new leader takes the Adrian mantle and leads our people to further glory, as Good Heinrik would have wanted it. There shall be drink for all, revelry, and celebration for this joyous occasion. 

 

INVITATIONS ON THE FOLLOWING RULES:

 

1. The Duchy of Adria shall only be elected by those Elector Houses specifically named within this document. The Electors named within those documents shall only be those that abide by section V of the Franciscan Articles:

- The Electors of the Duchy of Adria are hereby defined as those vassals sworn directly to the current Duke of Adria. In the case of an interregnum, they are defined as those sworn directly to the previous Duke.

 

2. The Duchy of Adria shall neither be a titular nor roaming title; it shall be bound to the allotted lands decided by the Duke Heinrik Sarkozic, within the bounds of the Lower Petra in the County of Veletzia.

 

3. Although he is not required to hail from Adria proper, the elected Duke of Adria must reside primarily within the Duchy of Adria. He who neglects this duty is liable to be deposed.

 

4. The elected Duke of Adria may not hold any higher title, nor stand to inherit any higher title. Such candidates are hereby barred from holding the Duchy of Adria unless they renounce their previous titles or inheritance.

 

5. The Duchy of Adria may never be conferred, inherited, purchased, granted, or otherwise obtained through methods other than election by the Duma.
