No Place like home...

It was a peaceful day, as far as one in war can be... Maria was just going back home from the Family boat when on the road a stranger in black armor, started to insult her about how Valah cause wars, cut throats, take lives and are nothing more then dust. Of course, Maria argued back that she didn't wish for this war. Neither are any other insults the stranger threw at her true. At Least not completely.

Of course their argument didn't stay vocal only, as the stranger sent their gauntlet down on Marias head. Making her stumble, and dazed for a moment. Before she then drew her sword standing in a protective pose, as she wasn't sure what they were planning. She had never met them before, Studying their movements.  As the stranger drew their sword in return and aimed to slash her open. Maria moved her sword to block it, as their swords started to clash, and the taller person started to push Maria back. Maria, foolish as she was, didn't realize that she was being pushed straight into a mountainside, and became stuck in between her attacker and the mountainside some call home.  Aiming her sword down past the attacker at their hand aiming to cut herself to freedom. And she did, the Stranger in armor let out a growl in pain and indeed stepped back, enough so for Maria to move out past them…

But  her escape didn't last for long as she got a small taste of freedom. The stranger in armor hit her across the head again, and she lost her footing, falling to one knee. And a foot was placed on her back, pressing down on her. She turned herself around aiming to slice at the Strangers foot but their armor deflected her atack.

Then it started, the attacker aimed their sword downwards at Maria’s leg. Lucky for her she managed to get it to somewhat be deflected, and ended up with only a small cut, but at that time the attacker stomped on her ankle and a loud Crack was heard… A broken ankle. Soon after her sword was hit out the way before she was striked in her face breaking her nose, and dazing the young woman.  She stumbled over from the pain and ringing of her head, as she had been hit, three times over her head. Quickly the armored one relieved her of all her weapons.

Then it started, as her attacker leaned down over her, and pressed into the wound on her leg while holding a dagger at her chin scratching it open in a fine red tin line.  She let out a cry of pain from both. She then asked a simple question: “What do you want?”  That was answered with her throat being grabbed with one hand and the other slicing the young woman's left ear off. A muffled scream sounded, from the pain as she tried to struggle for freedom.  But she wouldn't get it, as the one in armor wasn't done and moved their dagger now horizontally, pushing it down at her aiming to cut her eyes. Maria’s  eyes went wide as her hands desperately tried to pull the dagger away from her face, but eventually she failed as the dagger cut her nose and eyes open, and blood mixed with tears she was let go. Her attacker stood up picking up their Treasure that once was Maria’s left ear. And threw her bandages.  Scared, and now blind, she did as they asked and bandaged her leg, feeling about where the pain was.. as well as a bandage going around her face covering her nose, eyes and missing ear..

Surely this would be done right?’ Was what went through Maria’s head, as she then got grasped by the shoulder and told to get up. So she did, fearful of what would happen if she wouldn't. In terrible pain, she got dragged off somewhere blind, scared and not sure if she would live.  After a horrible trip across the land  she got told to spin, and in a twisted way they left her alone, blind.. And not sure where she even was.   She begged them to not leave her, not sure how to survive being alone in who knew where… But her words were answered with threats and eventually silence.  Now alone in a forest with her sword, a piece of bread and some water.  She was struggling, as the day turned night, she tried to walk unsure where and in terrible pain of her broken foot.  She eventually walked into a stone structure left abandoned as she sat down in pain, alone.. Trying to bandage her foot with what she had left in her bag or could feel around her on the ground..  She didn't know if she had walked into the right direction or if she had walked in a circle. But most of all she was scared and worried she would never return home.. Desperate to find some form of good news in her terrible situation. Desperate to see again so she could find her way home.

Maria wasn't a religious type growing up. At Least those who were around her, but she wasn't sure… She never fully understood it..  But eventually Maria set herself over her pride, and prayed for guidance, to heal her eyes, or for hope… For some way home. Anything…

This cycle of waking up, walking in a direction for hours, sitting down, resting continued for a few days. As she truly was lost.

Desperate to see her family once again.

Viscountess Annika Denodado the mother of the poor lass, would not sleep that night as she wondered, worried and griefed over where her child may be, or if she would return. Regardless, her hope did not falter.

The Denodado heir’s brother, Lord Josef Karl Denodado, would stand waiting atop the walls of the front gate of La Dorado. Though he did not interact with his sister much, he cared for her deeply as any older brother would for their younger siblings; he began to think of many bad situations that could or could’ve happened to his sister. Though he would be vigilant and determined to see if his sister soon arrived home as he brought his spyglass to his right eye before being called up to by his wife to come home for the night, he nods his head as he stowed the spyglass in his bag before descending the stairs.

”Be vigilant, be determined, and stay alive, Maria… for DIOS and for us all, especially me..” He spoke before giving a quiet prayer to DIOS before he left his post to return him.
