Commerce City-State of Kaethul
“I, Yera Silveira, as a pure Mali’thill whose roots are planted in Haelun'or but who's branches have long since outgrown it, officially state my claim of Kaethul and intention to rule it as a Commerce City State. Diverse and multiracial, acceptant of differing cultures and non-hostile ideologies. United by true progress in all aspects of life without forsaking one's morals. The Commerce City State of Kaethul shall be run as a meritocracy beneath my leadership, with fifty percent of all taxes being divided up amongst the influential Nobility who have staked their claim through contribution or contribution of their forefathers. Kaethul, that's name stems from the elven words for self and raw or not yet refined, stands to inspire and guide others towards perpetual growth. In wealth, magic, strength, power, mind and heart. “

OOC Description
The commerce city-state of Kaethul is an up and coming merchant city forged entirely through roleplay and through event lines to get to this point. There has been no ooc collusion, no former groups pulling together to form something a half-baked concept, instead it has all been driven by the characters coming together. A big emphasis is put upon merchant roleplay and nobility, with power, wealth and knowledge being treated as valuable commodities. Shops are entirely free, but at in high demand, whilst houses are kept at the cost of a single days worth of voting (23 Minas).

Pre-Aevos History
“The following is written by the surviving current Matriarch of the Silveira clan. This is a piecing together of my family's history, from accounts written by them, however, great portions are missing or were so damaged that I have had to fill in the blanks from vague mentions and excerpts.”

(OOC: Mostly backstory history!)

Spoiler

The Silveira family was a highly revered clan among the oldest High Elf clans or families, known for their purity and their commitment to excellence. With a storied history dating back to the earliest days of the race, the Silveiras have long been able to be considered pure of heart, blood and intention. The story of the Silveira family began in the second generation of Malin's children when the High Elves were still young, and the world was new. During this time, the Silveiras began to develop their skills as Artificers, crafting intricate creations and creating masterful works of art that were powered by magic. The Elves of other clans highly prized their creations in their isolated local area, and soon, the Silveiras had become renowned throughout their people for their skill and creativity.

Over time, the Silveiras continued to hone their skills as Artificers, creating ever more wondrous and elaborate creations. Their works were sought after by lords, and even kings of other races, and their expertise became invaluable to those who sought to harness the power of magic. In addition to their skills as Artificers, the Silveiras were known for their proficiency as magic cultivators. They studied the mysteries of magic, seeking to unlock its secrets and harness its power for the greater good. They were said to possess great knowledge of both ancient and modern magics, and their expertise was highly prized by all who knew of it. However, like many, their elders were decimated during the dwarven wars and spent the seventh and eighth centuries recovering their former strength and resources.

Despite their great power and knowledge, the Silveiras were always known for their humility and their commitment to the greater good. They used their powers and their influence to help others, and they were always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

As the centuries passed, the Silveiras became known as a clan of pure and noble High Elves, the envy of all who knew them. They continued to produce great works of art and creations, and their expertise in magic cultivation remained unmatched. For a time they moved to Haelun'or, living in collective peace and prosperity. One of the most famous members of the Silveira family was the renowned artificer Tariq Silveira, who lived during the Silveira clan's Age of Dreams. Tariq was said to have created some of the most wondrous creations ever seen, including a clockwork dragon that could fly and breathe fire on command. His works were highly sought after by the patriarchs of other clans, who recognised his genius and sought to harness his powers for their own gain.

Despite the many tempting offers that came his way, Tariq remained true to his ideals and refused to use his powers for personal gain. He continued to create works of art and creations that amazed all who saw them, and his commitment to the greater good earned him a place of honour among his clan.

Another notable member of the Silveira family was the magic cultivator Arin Silveira, who lived during the Silveira clan's self-proclaimed Age of Heroes. Arin was said to possess a deep understanding of the mysteries of magic, and his powers were unmatched by any other magic cultivator of his time within the clan - a surprising feat considering that Arin was accordingly a member of a side branch not initially known for their talent in the area. Arin's most famous achievement was the creation of a magical garden, which was said to have been so beautiful and so enchanting that it could inspire even the most jaded of souls. It is said that Arin spent many years cultivating this garden, working tirelessly to make it as perfect as possible.

When the garden was finally completed, Arin opened it to all who wished to enter, inviting the Elves of other clans to come and experience its beauty. The garden soon became a truly famous attraction, drawing visitors from far and wide who came to marvel at its wonders.

Over time, the Silveira family continued to produce great works of art and artificed creations, and their skills as Artificers and magic cultivators remained unmatched. They were known throughout their kin for their purity and commitment to the greater good, and their influence was felt in every corner of the realm. Despite their many achievements, however, the Silveiras remained humble and committed to the ideals that had brought them so much success. They continued to work tirelessly to create works of art and creations that would inspire awe and wonder, and their commitment to the greater good remained as strong as ever. Whilst the Silveira Clan at this time could have been seen as pure and highly respected, there was an opposing Elven clan that sought to crush the Silveiras out of jealousy and animosity, forcing the Silveiras to defend themselves against a powerful and dangerous foe.

This rival clan, known as the Athri'cinh, had long held a grudge against the Silveiras, convinced that the Silveira family's success was undeserved. Some members of the Athri'cinh believed that the Silveiras had gained their power through deceit and trickery, and they resented the Silveiras for what they saw as an unfair advantage.

Despite this bad blood, however, the Silveiras were unaware of the Athri'cinh's animosity towards them, and they continued to focus on their own pursuits, producing great works of art and creations and cultivating their knowledge of magic. That all changed one fateful day when the Athri'cinh launched a surprise attack on the Silveira stronghold, intent on crushing the rival clan once and for all.

The Silveira warriors were caught off guard by the sudden attack, and many were killed before they even had a chance to fight back. The Athri'cinh had come prepared, attacking with a force and brutality that the Silveiras had never before encountered. Despite the odds, however, the Silveiras refused to back down, fighting with ferocity and courage to defend their home and their honour. They used their skills as Artificers to create traps and weapons that would give them an advantage, and they used their knowledge of magic to shield themselves from the Athri'cinh's attacks.

The battle raged on for days, with both sides suffering heavy losses. The Silveiras were outnumbered and outmatched, but they refused to give up, determined to defend their family and their way of life.

In the end, it was the Silveiras' resilience and determination that won the day. Though they suffered great losses, they were able to outlast the Athri'cinh, forcing them to retreat and ultimately securing their own victory. Their bravery and tenacity in the face of such overwhelming odds earned them the admiration and respect of all who witnessed the battle.

Despite their success, however, the Silveiras knew that they could never let their guard down again. They had seen the true face of their enemy, and they knew that the Athri'cinh and others like them would not hesitate to attack again if given the chance. Additionally, it could be said that many of the elders of the clan were massacred, and even the grand patriarch of the family, Elder Surriel, was gravely wounded and was thought to have passed on following this occurrence why; however, few records exist to tell the specifics of this tragedy.

In the years that followed, the Silveiras remained vigilant, constantly honing their skills and preparing themselves for any threat that might come their way. And while they never forgot the bitter rivalry that had once existed between them and the Athri'cinh, they refused to let it define them, instead choosing to focus on the betterment of their own family and the greater good of the Mali'aheral.

The devastating attack by the Athri'cinh clan had a profound impact on the Silveira family. Not only did they lose many of their elders and loved ones, but they also discovered that dark arts or some unknown evil had been employed to gain an upper hand against them. This revelation caused the already cautious clan to become even more reclusive, focusing all their energy on training their youth and preparing for an uncertain future. The Silveiras retreated into isolation, building upon their already strong magical and artistic abilities and developing new techniques to defend themselves against future attacks. They trained tirelessly, both in the art of magic and in combat, becoming some of the most formidable warriors and magic cultivators around at the time.

As the years passed, the Silveira family became increasingly protective of their knowledge and their secrets, closing themselves off from both friend and foe alike. They continued to produce stunning works of art and magnificent creations, but now only for their own use, keeping their abilities and knowledge within their own clan.

The Silveira family's focus on training their youth became their top priority. They sought to instil the values of their clan into the next generation of Silveiras, emphasising the importance of purity, humility, and the pursuit of excellence. They taught their children the ways of magic and the art of Artifice, ensuring that they would be well-prepared to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

It was during this time of isolation and focus on training that the Silveira family became aware of a prophecy that spoke of a great calamity that was to come. The prophecy spoke of a great darkness that would descend upon every living High Elf, threatening to destroy everything that the High Elves had built.

This prophecy served as a call to action for the Silveira family, spurring them on to even greater heights of determination and focus. They continued to train and prepare, creating new spells and devices that were designed to combat the darkness that was prophesized to come. Whilst easily speculated that this prophesied disaster was the great migration that occurred due to the Mori’s invasion, many of the Silveira family remaining debate this fact. Despite their isolation, the Silveira family did not lose sight of their commitment to the greater good. They continued to use their magical abilities and artistic talents to help others, often secretly lending their aid to those who were in need.

What happened to the family as a whole after this point is known only by the current surviving members of the clan. Today, the Silveira family still exists, though their numbers have dwindled over the centuries. Despite this, their legacy lives on, and their contributions to the world live on in the teachings they left for their descendants. As a side note, it is also important to note that the Silveiras commanded a vast wealth, one that was never reported in the hands of others after their great collapse, it could be assumed that such wealth remained within their clans vaults.

Aevos History
(OOC: The following events are written based on roleplay that happened! They will continued to be added to, but are written in a biased manner.)

Spoiler

Following the mass exodus from the former continent through the tunnels to Aevos, Yera Silveira an Oem’ii by all right, travelled alone amongst the masses of Mali'Thill. Scared, tired and without any of her family's wealth she was left in squalor and without guidance upon the raising of the Silver walls now named Haelun'or.

The choice that she had at this moment was simple. Live meekly and die without effort, or pour her heart into the skills that she had in order to overcome the hand that fate had dealt her. From nothing she began to rise, conjuring creations from metal and wood, works of art that she would never have dreamed of creating without her clans skills and training.

[SA 133.1] Provided the Sillumiran of Haelun’or 20 sets of Aurum restraints (+Art), for free.
[SA 133.3] Provided the Sillumiran of Haelun’or a text on Investigative and Counter Investigative techniques. (Volume 7.4)
[SA 133.6] Provided the Sillumiran of Haelun’or a text on Unarmed Combat (Volume 7.2 and 7.3)
[SA 133.8] Provided the Sillumiran of Haelun’or a text on Physical/Combat Training (Volume 7.1)

She wasted no time in reaching out to the highest forms of government within the Silver City, donating to the cities most prized structure (the library) books of her own devising on diplomacy and politics, forging smithing contracts with the military, el Sillumir, befriending and obtaining the guidance of the Maheral and investigating two higher-ups within the Sillumir respectively. Athri'annyer and Naith Loa’chil. The former being the Tilruir’sil and the latter an officer.

[SA 133] A concerted effort was made in order to improve relationships across the continent and within Haelun'or. For example, in one particular act Yera Silveira went to great expense and provided drastic discounts on all products sold in ‘Yera’s Workshop’ to Haelun’or Citizens; as well as bringing in customers internationally through advertisement and referrals including members of peerage (e.g. Knight Esther of Velec, a protectorate of Lady Carrion).
[SA 133.5] Donated to the Library of Haelun’or; a copy of all currently translated volumes, including several with practical and usable knowledge.

The former's name had her on edge and his relation to family that was ultimately shunned from Haelun'or had her seeing him as a threat to be neutralised for the longest time despite an otherwise friendly demeanour.

[SA 135] Yera promoted to Tilruir. Lesser council.

Within a matter of Elven Weeks, she had gone from rags to riches. Hundreds to thousands of Minas, that didn't go unnoticed. Her ambition shone and the meritocracy that was Haelun'or appointed her to the lesser council as a Tilruir, a position that lasted only one Elven Week before she was elevated once more to the position of Okarir’akaln whilst still only a child in the eyes of Haelun'or.

[SA 136] Yera promoted to Okarir. Silver council.

Yera Silveira went on to put her suspicions of Athri'annyer aside as both himself and his accompanying officer went on to become two of her closest allies. That which could be trusted with blood and soul, through strife or peace. Leveraging her position as one of the most influential politicians within Haelun'or despite her young age she purchased a vast swathe of land from the nation to its northwest, whereupon the formation of the Silver Merchants Sovereignty was established. Supported by her allies, Athri'annyer and Naith Loa'chil, alongside a number of notable shareholders and those she called friend.

[SA 137] Bought land (2000 Minas for several hundred acres with an additional 150 per year).

The Silver Merchants Sovereignty existed for several decades, continuously growing and absorbing new merchants into it's fold as the Silveira’s resources influence and Minas grew in quantity. Several guilds and kingdoms were brought into the fold, such as the Kobalt Enclave and Urguans gold hand clan, the first of which unfortunately ceased function but the latter going on to provide valuable support for many years with its presence only waning after the untimely demise of its clan head.

Following the continued success of the SMS (Silver Merchants Sovereignty), Yera Silveira did not stagnate. Seeing the magic city-state of Hohkmat suffering in its attempt to reach completion, it's build not yet even close to funded, she sought to strike out whilst it was at it's most vulnerable and grant them the minas they required in exchange for land in foreign soil. Four thousand minas at a time when many kingdoms had barely six was effortlessly deposited and she played her hand in both seeing the city built and it's culture and societal norms developed. Aiding in the guidance of others with her training as a Silveira, a noble Mali'Thill and as a powerful enchantress in her own right. The Hidden Tower, her domain within the Magic City State of Hohkmat was forged, providing knowledge of dozens of Alchemical recipes that she had accumulated over the course of just as many years, and establishing a dominant political faction there.

The Matriarch of the Silveira clan sought to further her influence within Hohkmat, after being accepted as the student of one of the world's strongest mages, a golden lance that stood unmatched. Dexterously manoeuvring within Hohkmats three mysteries until such a point that she had enough power and land that she created a forth seat to the council of three formerly, taking control of a quarter of the city in one fell swoop. Her ascendance was not without challenge or strife. Her and her teacher's goal to raise the strength, power and knowledge of all magi and civilians within their respective domains, to better face the future, came under threat as a force of over a dozen sought to ambush her mentor within a tavern, unaware and unarmed on behalf of the Grand Magister of Hohkmat in an overt power struggle.

The dozen-strong failed.

Her mentor managed to escape and retaliated with fifty strong following, devastating the populace for some time after. A tragic event but an unavoidable one that saw the end of any further conflict.

Yera's position remained secure despite her allegiances, through careful leveraging of her alliances, favours owed and her value as a Magister - her fellow Magister and ally Valindra not proving so lucky in her ultimate dismissal from the city, even going so far as to receive attempts on her life.

The Magister and owner of the Silver Merchant's Sovereignty wasted no time in quickly consolidating her power. As war to the north was finally sparked and tensions in and around Hohkmat rose. Naith and Athri'annyer meanwhile had begun truly entering their own domain of power and dominance in research and military progression. Establishing an alchemical guild within the lands of the SMS, the Ak’vei was finally formed. It's popularity and strength spiked dramatically as it's running became like no other guild on the continent. Active without fault and a complex ever-changing dynamic of social interaction and alchemical advancement.

The continued and consistent success of the merchants guilds, shops and businesses, mixed with the now immensely successful alchemical guild of Ak’vei, finally reached a tipping point. With contention in the north, Yera saw fit to finally take a step that had been planned for decades, a step towards a dream she had claimed since her beginning in rags since arriving within Haelun'or.

The City-State of Kaethul was formed, ten thousand minas being poured into the land that the Silver Merchants Sovereignty had stood upon, its massive Pavilion being raised into a palace in which houses, shops and facilities quickly formed around. Tunnels beneath the land were carved out, immense aqueducts for ensuring clean drinking water could reach every citizen with irrigation being provided to the surrounding farms such that sustainability would never prove a problem, and its people would always live in comfort. Its shops remained free of rent to foster the advancement of merchants, and its houses cheaper than almost any of its neighbours. The alchemy guild of Ak'vei was named the Royal Kaethul Academy of Ak’vei, Naith Loa'chil named the High Lord and Chancellor, whilst Athri'annyer was named High Lord and Justicar, to command Kaethul's military, the Sentinels.

As the war raged on in the north during Kaethuls inception, bandits from both sides targeted merchants heading too and from respective nations - and thus a period of diplomacy and trade was forced upon them. What went from one or two large cases a year, was reduced to a case a decade at most. This further decreased as a non-aggression pact was signed with the Uruk of Krugmar.

[7th of the Amber Cold, SA 164] Kaethul’s Constitution was written and signed.

Noble Ettiquette

Welcome to this guide on proper etiquette for nobility. As a member of the aristocracy, it is important to conduct oneself with grace, dignity, and respect. Understanding the intricate social customs and etiquette of the time will ensure that you navigate society effortlessly and establish a positive reputation. Mastery of noble etiquette will help you navigate the intricate social landscape of your time. By adhering to what you are taught, you will impress others with your decorum and charm. Remember, true nobility goes beyond titles and wealth—it lies in your ability to treat others with respect and dignity. May this guide serve as a valuable resource in shaping your noble behavior and enhancing your place in society. Let's delve into the principles and practices that will guide your noble behaviour.

Royal Family of Kaethul Physical Appearance
The Silveira family typically has either incredibly pale blonde or light red hair. Said traits having been passed down within their family for generations. Their skin is pale and fair, with no recorded muddying of lineages. Their frames tend to carry muscle better than most, perhaps due to a wish to preserve strength in all its forms within the bloodline.

Royal Family of Kaethul’s Philosophy
“A wandering dragon cannot ignore a local snake.”
The Silveira family dedicates much of their existence towards two things. The first of which is their craft, which any practicing artisan of the family prides themself upon. The second of which is the protection of their people. Long since time immemorial, the Silveira family have considered themselves protectors of the Mali’thill, acting openly or in secret to accomplish said goal. They have never been afraid to act brazenly like a dragon, or covertly like a snake, when protecting their kin from threats. However, due to the decimation of the family and many of its branches, it relies on the current generation to decide whether this remains true. What has been proven and is embodied by the current Overlord of Kaethul, and something she respects greatly, is that friends are to be treated generously and with great boon, and enemies are to cease existing with maximum discrimination, politically or otherwise.

1. Courtly Behaviour:

Spoiler

- Addressing Others: Always use appropriate titles when addressing your peers and superiors.
- Greetings: Greet others with a nod or curtsy, accompanied by a warm smile. Pay attention to the level of formality and respond accordingly. It is important to note that those with the highest station at any occasion set the level of formality and cordiality, pay attention.
- Conversation: Engage in intelligent and polite conversation. Be mindful of topics that could cause offence or discomfort and avoid them. Listen actively and show genuine interest in others' opinions.

Unofficial Rule: Reputation is everything
Reputation alone can be a tool to intimidate or win with. Once reputation slips you can become vulnerable. If your reputation is untouchable then your opponents hang themselves simply by becoming your enemy, thus destroy your opponents by opening holes in their reputation and protect your own.

2. Dress and Appearance:

Spoiler

- Appropriate Attire: Dress in accordance with your station and the occasion. Choose clothing made from luxurious fabrics and adorned with suitable accessories.
- Personal Grooming: Maintain hygiene and grooming standards. Keep your hair well-kempt, nails clean, and breath fresh. Pay attention to personal hygiene and use exquisite scents.

3. Dining and Banqueting:

Spoiler

- Seating Arrangement: Be familiar with the general rules of seating. Higher-ranking individuals should be seated closer to the host, following a prescribed order of precedence.
- Table Manners: Follow proper table etiquette, including using appropriate cutlery, dining at an appropriate pace, and refraining from speaking with your mouth full. Practice good posture and avoid leaning on the table.

4. Social Conduct:

Spoiler

- Courtesy: Treat others with respect and courtesy, regardless of their standing. Display modesty and humility, avoiding boasting or speaking ill of others.
- Chivalry: Embrace chivalrous behavior. Show kindness and protection towards the elderly or young, assist those in need, and uphold a strong sense of honor and loyalty.
- Graciousness: Express gratitude and appreciation for acts of kindness or hospitality. Write letters or offer small gifts to express your appreciation after attending social events.

Unofficial Rule: Plague
Those that are constantly unhappy, unlucky or miserable are viciously sick. They are, for all intents and purposes, the plague. They should be avoided at all costs. Emotional states are infectious and being around them only spurs on your own demise. Associate with the fortunate, optimistic and happy instead.

5. Cultural and Religious Customs:

Spoiler

- Religious Observances: Respect religious customs and practices. Attend religious ceremonies and services with reverence unless there are valid reasons preventing your participation.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Be aware of cultural differences in customs and traditions. Educate yourself on diverse cultures and maintain an open mind when interacting with individuals from different backgrounds.

Unofficial Rule: Actions not arguments
Even thinking you've won an argument is a pyrrhic victory at best, resentment is long lasting and swallows any momentary change in ones way of thinking. Rather, one should seek to have others agree through one's actions instead without saying a thing. Demonstrate you are right.

Court Protocol

Spoiler

Overlord;
Structure, order and dignity are all hallmarks of true Nobility. The power of nobility is granted by royalty and naturally the power of royalty stems from its relation to the Overlord. The Overlord is to be unassailable and thus must sometimes be thrust upwards into the highest peak and kept out of reach of the common crowd and random challenges by the boastful or savage. Equally, those who take the mantle of nobility must hold themselves high to not besmirch their station.

The Overlord is a unique individual not held to the same rules as everyone else, and if the Overlord designates an heir then the same protocol should be extended to them.

Screwing up in front of the Overlord is quite likely, and it's one of the few times one should avoid doing so, for it is their duty to remember slights, incompetencies and mistakes. One should stand far enough away that they are not within whispering distance, but close enough that they need not strain their voice, only drawing closer than this provided that one has permission from the Overlord. Drawing a weapon on the Overlord is a punishable offence, as is using magic of any kind without prior permission.

All protocol towards the Overlord should be perceived unless the Overlord gives explicit permission. Bowing (or alternative) is to be expected prior to being allowed to speak to the Overlord.

Commoners may not speak to the Overlord without first being introduced to the Overlord by a Noble, who must also wait for permission to introduce a commoner.

  • Never sit while the Overlord is standing unless given permission, and always stand up when the Overlord enters the room. Exceptions are made for the physically infirm and crippled.
  • One should bow (or equivalent) to the Overlord in every greeting or new scenario in which they arrive. After departing from their side a second motion of courtesy should be offered in fairwell.
  • Do not disagree with the Overlord unless they have given the right to counsel them. This should be requested subtly or in private only.

Unofficial Rule: Do not outshine your master
That which is above you must feel superior and powerful. When you seek to please or impress your master, do not go too far in displaying your talents should you accidentally spark fear and insecurity within them. One should make their master appear brilliant to attain power.

Nobility;
One should not speak to Nobility without proper introduction from another, or alternatively without requesting the permission to introduce one's self. One should bow or provide another formal signature of greeting such as a hand over one's heart. Disagreeing or arguing with a Noble is unacceptable in public, and one should request permission to counsel in private. This is an offence and should be enforced by all lest the nobles weaken their station and that of their Overlord. A noble should not be touched without permission and never with bare skin, and those interacting with them should be exceedingly polite. Not knowing ones title is acceptable, however, in such a case using your honourable lordship or ladyship is expected until corrected. Equally one can request to know how one should be addressed. One should bow, curtsy or equivalent when introduced or greeting a noble. This is only expected once even if multiple meetings occur throughout the day. Those of a higher station do not need to bow to a lesser station though it is seen as respectful to do so. Nobles are expected to refrain from overly public displays of affection, as they are seen as vulgar.

Titles may be unnecessary in private, though one should be given permission to refrain as opposed to assuming. At the very least, one should be referred to as Lord or Lady unless given leave to dispense with formalities.

Master-Servant Relations;
Master servant relations must remain apparent, and servants should apply proper protocol in public at all times. Servants should be treated well, with proper living conditions and respectable treatment with proper wages, boarding, food and free time.

Unofficial Rule: Dependency
Keep those that are reliant on you, reliant on you forever. Never teach them so much that they can entirely do without you. Make them depend on you for their happiness and prosperity.

Commoners

Commoners;
Commoners must be given reasonable respect, though respects may be disregarded if the Commoner in question shows any sign of disrespecting the Overlord, the nobles position or is Darkspawn. Fraternization towards Servants or Commoners is strictly forbidden - and in the event that this is unavoidable, permission should be sought from the Overlord in order to have it officialized, the commoner raised in station and/or the servant removed from their current position. Flirting, Debauching and other interactions normally reserved with close relations are strictly forbidden towards Servants, as they interfere with the Master-Servant relation.

Unofficial Rule: Trust your enemies
Trust your enemies, not your friends. Friends are quick to become envious, and quicker to become spoilt or tyrannical. Ensnare and recruit a former enemy however and with their wish to prove themselves you'll obtain far more.

Dress Code;

Spoiler

The current dress code is that anything goes. As Magi, alchemists and the brilliant minded, one must pursue their own style and expand their presence.

Subtleties:
In the delicate dance of courtly life, where whispers carry and silence speaks volumes, the fan, attire and other such things become an exquisite instrument of coded communication. Master its language, and you shall weave secrets in the air, flirtations on a breeze, and silent commands with a flick of the wrist. Being able to communicate subtly to another is not just a way of secret communication. It's a game, a dance, a way of keeping others guessing - were you flirting with them? Are you angry?

Spoiler

A fan held at the right eye: "Follow me."
A fan held at the left eye: "Beware, someone watches."
Covered mouth: "I am surprised."
A fan or two fingers touched to lips: "Kiss me."
Closed fan tapping forehead: "Think of me."
Open fan resting on chin: "I am bored."
Slow fanning: "I am impatient."
Fast fanning: "I am excited."
Fanning rapidly and then closing the fan: "I am angry."
Pointing a fan at someone or holding the hilt of a sheathed sword loosely: "You intrigue me."
Lowering the fan to hide your face: "I have a secret."
Twirling the fan in circles, drawing a weapon an inch out it's sheathe: "We are watched."
Dropping the fan: "Leave me alone."

Unofficial Rule: Speak Less
When trying to impress others with your words, say less. Those that speak more appear to be less in control, whereas if you seem vague and open ended in your words you come across more like an intellectual, covered in mystique. Equally, the more that is said, the higher the chance you will slip up or appear foolish.

Designs;
Designs, patterns and colours are perhaps a little more intricate than given credit. Not everyone will design their outfit around a message nor can necessarily afford to. Floral Patterns: Each flower has a meaning, from roses (love) to lilies (purity). One should consider what each flower signifies to them.

Unofficial Rule: Hide
Keep others from knowing your intentions or reasons for acting, for if they have no clue what you are up to then they can't possibly prepare to defend themselves. You should seek to guide them to false conclusions, incorrect assumptions and strike whilst they're befuddled.

Fan Shape Sentiments:

Spoiler

Round fans: Perfection, wholeness, eternity
Oval fans: Grace, elegance, femininity
Rectangular fans: Practicality, stability, strength

Unofficial Rule: Limelight
People are judged by their appearance and what goes unseen counts for next to nothing. One should not allow themselves to become lost in the crowd. Instead, stand out at all costs. Make yourself a magnet of attention by appearing larger than life, mysterious or more colourful than any of those around you.

Fan/Sword Handle Materials

The material in which a ceremonial sword or fan consists of, or other such focal points of a nobles outfit, depicts a certain theme or warning about an individual. Likewise it can convey a certain message when handed to the individual as a gift. Such as an admiring quality about them.

Unofficial Rule: Home Advantage
Force your target to come to you to take control. When your target comes to you, it forces them to abandon their plans. Whether you lure them with temptations or not, you hold the cards.
